I’ll make a male character, why should I play as female? :v
I always workhard in-game, doing quest, grinding, and exploring anything that I don’t know. This is role-play game, it’s not fit to a bad boy that want to play as a cute girl.
I wish some mmorpg will have a gender-restrict system in the future.
Because of this shemales gamer, we can’t distinguish between boy and girl.
Some of my friends will make a female characters and I ask 1 of them why he like it.
Me: Why you always make a female character?
Answer: I like playing as female because every people will give an items to me. They think I’m a real girl.

I’ve been on the thread for a while but I never mentioned it.
The only reason I’d roll a female character is that devs tend to design actually good looking hairstyles and costumes for females, while male characters gets ugly dull pieces of trash.
Hopes IMC gives the Granado Espada treatment to male characters in ToS.

Hm, do you mean when chatting in-game? Then, don’t you want players to address you as what your character is?
Of course, it’s a valid issue when the talk becomes less anonymous/character centric, for example, when joining a guild - unless it’s a role-playing one :).
If guys want to roleplay female characters, let them roleplay their fantasies of wanting to be a women.
I’ll only ever play male characters because I am a male, I have no delusion, I understand what roleplaying is, I have no intention of roleplaying the opposite gender, unless it’s for comedy, then I would be sour about it in a funny way.

I just took some quick research on Google and it seems that the statement of sex hormone only effect behavior and not personality is a theory which is based on a research on 200 volunteers and there are also researches and published papers which say otherwise (eg: http://www.darionardi.com/BulletinArt9.html). So I think the correct answer now might be unsure.
As you said, personality is a much deeper and complex subject that’s why I feel like the research can’t be counted as a mean to provide a scientific fact.
Not that I say you are wrong, just stating my opinion based on a limited knowledge without academic study.

Thing is. If you play a elf but act like yourself, you are just a dude (or gal) with pointy years. Elves have a deep culture, live centuries and certainly do not act like humans. So role playing a elf means responding to situations in a different manner as you and me would (you need to take into account their history and mannerisms). A more
simple example is playing a pirate character but not talking like a pirate, aye me hearty? It would ruin the experience (at least for everyone who expect to interact with a pirate).
I understand your point, 'tho. That being in a different world counts as role playing because you have to imagine yourself in that different position. But I argue that it is not really role playing but more “make believe”.
Alas, we can talk long about this topic. I’m very passionate about RPGs and have a very different view on the term (considering how it’s being used in computer games for a long time now). Mostly because of my
Dungeons & Dragons (and other tabletop RPG) roots.

Dude you dont have to be all saltly. not all Guys who roleplay as a woman wants to be a woman. Some of them are kids who have no one else in there house and just wanna check out how the female characters dance animation works. LOL! and some ppl have different reasons too. but remember when u play other MMO’s and theres a newly created female character half naked. dont forget to say Hi or lure a mob to the player so he can try to break the meta
