Explosion of men creating female chars

I play both, My tank and melee dps classes tend to be male while my support and caster dps tend to be female. That being said my favorite character so far has been my female Lalafell Paladin on FFXIV. because adorableness.

Why would anyone even care what gender a person plays, it’s all cosmetic anyway.

hot hot hot, everyone should just play what they want and not care to be honest.

Female characters only, because I like woman and I don’t roleplay in MMOs.

But hey, it’s 2015. I don’t think people will be bothered if you ask them their IRL gender or sexual orientation.

also most FEMALE otaku Fujoshi players make MALE CHARACTERS.

Isn’t 90% an exaggerated figure? There’s more girls playing than you think. Though I know some girls say they’re guys to avoid in-game harassment (when playing with a female char) Well I’m a girl and play my gender, but only because I think they’re cuter.

I’m gonna make a male because that’s what I am. I’m not one of those freaks.

I’ve often played male characters to avoid the annoyance of having male players assume that I need help to kill porings or the in game equivalent thereof. A player’s sprite should never be considered indicative of their real life gender–which unless you’re using games to date, really doesn’t matter anyway. o_Oa

If there’s an afro i might make a male.

Depends on the player. One answer that I do get was the females gear/clothing are better than the males, which is true for me at least. Other than that, easy to get into parties.

Males create female characters because that activates their protective instinct, getting them closer to their character.

Personaly, i create male characters when given a choice.

Why does someones gender matter? I mean, unless you’re on the prowl for something that a MMO rightly shouldn’t cater to…

done it once before, it feels good… I mean you get special treatment and less trash talk compare to my male characters.

First off, if youre going to even going to talk about it. You could just simple describe it as

“There is a lot of men who play female charatcers. will you do the same in playing the opposite gender?”

Infact the word shemale can very offensive. And to further a point, the way you describe your perspective can come across as sexists because of some weird need for people to play characters in their designated gender? So that you can “know” that the characters, for whatever reason, is female.

Why is it considered “weird” by people who chose another gender in a game than what they are in real life? We don’t make a big deal about someone being a different race other than human. Choosing a gender in a game has nothing to do with sexuality.

The only people I can see this annoying is if you are going into games looking for a girlfriend/boyfriend and you are worried someones cute AV you find attractive might be a dude. Again, this is a stupid thing.

Sometimes I play as females because they look better than the males. Sometimes I play as males because they look better.

Why would you call us “Shemales”? My character in the game is a Female. Or it is male. Or heck, if I want my character to be a shemale than it can be if I want it to be! Roleplay does not have to be who you are in real life…that kind of defeats the purpose of what “roleplay” is.

The title…lol… That’s not even the right context for that slur…? :unamused:
I’d just title it ‘playing as the opposite gender’ even though that’s kind of offensive too…
Then again I guess the entire topic is kinda, because it shouldn’t be a big deal which character model people choose to play as.

I usually stick with female chars because I think they look better. Tree of Savior will be the first game I main a male character because the boy costumes are actually on par with the female ones. It’s pretty incredible that they’ve made both male & female characters so equal in the good looks department. I am not used to that being the case in most games.

It’s not weird at all. I really dislike the attitude that just because someone doesn’t match the gender of their pixels that there is something wrong with them. There are many reasons why people do this (and it’s not just guys, as I mentioned before). For me, I choose the sprite gender based off of whichever seems cuter.

Now there is an issue of people who do this with malicious intent (item scamming), but that is still a whole other issue. I find the title pretty offensive just as other users have said.

use the old term

Guy In Real Life (G.I.R.L.) any old gamer can understand the term. and teach the young ones of the terminology. dont forget to add dots on the letter.

Blame Steparu, he always play female chars in every MMORPG :stuck_out_tongue:

it also feels like less serious playing and keep everything that is just really for fun.
but this time since the game is not gender locked I go male character all the way

I think it just boils down to cosmetics and simply put females are more aesthetically pleasing to observe than males.
