I choose the sex of my characters based on the class I play. If I play a swordsman or any kind of heavy armor warrior I like it to be a male. In the other hand, if I choose something with light armor like an archer or an assassin or even a wizard I tend to make them females. I have been doing this since I started playing MMORPGs 12 years ago and I will keep doing it because it just feel right to me and I am happy with it xD.
For me it depends on how cute/pretty the character is.
So i usually go with the female characters due to their customization choices being nicer?
The male characters are often very bland. Or i dont like the hair and facial choices haha. theyāre not really my aesthetic. I find it difficult customizing females too. bc a lot fo the choices also do not fit my aesthetic (especially the hairstyles ack).
But because ToS has equally cute female and male characters, Iāll probably just. go with whatever i feel like at that moment? or depending on the class I choose?
Names are also very important.
But basically I would choose either gender, more biased towards females though. ^^
Not like IG gender matters. It doesnt particularly change the quality of your gameplay. even if it may affect the way other players treat you, but in the end games are about self satisfaction not others catering to your needs, or yourself catering to otherās needs. because inside the game you can be whatever you want to be whether it is your IRL gender or not.
thatās the freedom of playing games online anyways. =w=
Uh. you do know about the brony stigma and etc right? The title brony is often associated with the part of the āfandomā that are male and outside of the target audience, have pony fetish, create/read pony porn, and are basically looked upon in disgust by a lot of people? Having pony waifus etc?
Also there is no reason for there to be a Pride (of being a brony???) here, because the topic of choosing which gender to play inside a game is not exactly related to LGBT+ reasons. there are maybe some people, but its mostly just personal and aesthetic choice, is what iāve picked up from looking through this forum topic.
Iām male and Iāll be playing male. lol
I usually like making girl characters because they have better design options then the make characters, I think they look cooler xD
Iām a female and generally I like to play with male chars ^^
Because females are cute and most of the time look cooler than the male chars.
Firstly being a āmaleā in real life and being a āfemaleā in game to some people is under the terms of LGBT (Transsexual)
Secondly bronies ARE NOT what you just mentioned. This is just following Stereotypes to their maximum. Bronies are according to Urban Dictionary:
A name typically given to the male viewers/fans (whether they are straight, gay, bisexual, etc.) of the My Little Pony show or franchise. They typically do not give in to the hype that males arenāt allowed to enjoy things that may be intended for females.
Until our communities gets rid of all the differences between ALL the genders and sexualities then Bronies are the men that doesnāt necessary have a moustache and 99KG of muscles and drinks beer instead of water. Bronies are males that likes watching cute things because they think cute things are better than beer. Lol.
I think you should respect peoples choices, I donāt think calling them pussies is the right thing to do. Not everyone likes what you like, choosing to play female or male doesnāt have anything to do with being less man xD.
@marioms1988 or less woman ^^
This guy must be upset, just because he was trolled by a guy playing as female, haha,
Exactly, my wife plays male character most of the times (she likes to tank a lot) and I usually like high DPS classes or Healers so I am usually choosing a female. I just find disturbing some people think I am less man or a pussy or she is less woman by the choice of sex in a computer game xD.
I like to see my waifu character walking and hitting stuffs <3
What? No? Thatās not how it works at all. When I play chess as black I donāt become a trans-race woman of color.
In wider response to a lot of people in this thread:
People are confusing two things here. The Game and the Meta-game.
Playing as a male or female in the Game is simply a difference in how models look and the animations associated with them. Nothing more. Sure, they may give people an impression to what your real gender is, but that is fallacious logic to follow.
Playing as, or rather, pretending to be male or female in the Meta-game means that you sending data like chat messages, forum posts etc. whilst acting as one gender or the other. This can be for the purposes of role-play (OK), or because you want to be considered as another gender (tenuously OK).
Some people abuse the Meta-game in order to manipulate or harm others. Please do not confuse role-players and transsexuals as being one of those people. Obfuscating or hiding your gender for the purpose of manipulating others is one facet of this abuse, and is considered to be Social Engineering which can be illegal.
These two spheres (Game and Metagame) are completely different. Please do not confuse them.
The thing is⦠I think some people here look at this post in the āMeta-gameā way, while most of us only see the āGameā way.
No no. I think i came off as really aggressive.
But what i meant was the stigma that comes with the title of brony.
I understand that there are a lot of decent fans. But i named the stereotypes because thats how people view the people that call themselves bronies. this is why even fans that like the mlp franchise tend to distance themselves from the ābronyā title, because they know that the term brony is associated with such views (i used to be an mlp fan myself lol. i had stopped labelling myself as a brony after i found out about that part of the fandom).
and also being a different gender inside of a game does not automatically mean you are transsexual or transgender. being a different gender in game and identifying as a different gender from what you were born as in real life are very different matters, because inside of a game you are essentially playing as a persona of yourself or as another ācharacterā or personality and does not have to correlate with your gender or sexuality in real life.
I never said all people who pick X gender or Y colour etc. which is opposite to their real life gender/colour are trans-gender/colour but I said that there are ones like that and they should not be discriminated against. Nor should the ones role-playing be discriminated against as well.
On the other hand, if youāre doing it to trick people then youāre a criminal, indeed.
Is very common, iĀ“m a Brazilian guy, bearded and straight and i like more to play with girls charsā¦here there no distinction, if you supose RPG is the key to be wherever you want.
=)
Ps. My English is a piece of ā ā ā ā sorry about it.
You sir, are a sad person
