Exorcise and Magnus Exorcismus

I feel like this needs its own thread since these skills are quite poor and need to be looked at. As it stands Exorcise is a C3 Priest skill that does less damage than Cure, and the field disappears the moment a monster touches it, making it very difficult to follow up with Magnus Exorcismus.

There are a number of ways to solve this problem.
1.) Make the magic square stays up for the duration of the skill, and have the Damage Over Time apply after they walk out of the area of effect or when the square disappears.
2.) Allow Magnus Exorcismus to be cast on its own, but still require points in exorcise, perhaps combine the damage?
3.) Remove Exorcise from the tree entirely, allow Magnus to be cast on its own.

Feel free to put your ideas here on how to improve Exorcise, or its ability to trigger Magnus.

I vote 3. Kill the exorcise garbage and replace it or not w/e not like priests will notice its gone. and make magnus its own skill as is.

Honestly Exorcise is another of those ‘‘Why are you a thing’’ skill Cleric has, literally no one takes it because it’s terrible in literally every way.
But at least it’s the one skill on C3 unlike Paladin that could as well get nothing from C2.

But yeah, Exorcise (and by extention Magnus Exorcismus) it’s just bafflingly bad.

Give the possibility of cast several magic squares around the priest for every level of Exorcise. (Lvl1: 1 square / lvl5: 5 squares Maybe even two squares per lvl?)
Make Magnus Exorcismus an area spell that activates all Exorcise square in the area.

I like the idea of the skill as it really does help differentiate from ‘support’ priests and ‘battle/damage’ priests. It just needs a little love.

What if you could actually cast Magnus on the monster itself who has the exorcise debuff on it. So when you do it would appear under the already exorcised monster… X) But casting it directly on the circle would still work too.

That would certainly have some interesting PVP uses, as you could turn the exorcised person into a problem for a while.

EDIT: Exorcise could be a targetted skill instead of a square effect with that in mind. Like a holy version of Hexing/Effigy.

The square should remain a few seconds after a monster walked on, but remains inert. That way the two spells stack well. Magnus Exorcismus would work like Detonate, but only trigger with Exorcise.
Would love to see the divine light fall all around the priest.

Magnus is one of the few cleric skills that can damage flying enemies, so I hope that we can get some applicable uses for it or remove its dependency to exorcism.

Bump. I’m not sure to understand why forcing a chaplain to play a Priest R3 is a good idea?

Sorry for the resurrection, but I was curious about something related to this.

So I get that everyone seems to hate exorcism and I can clearly understand why. The question however is about the exorcise attribute enhance.

TosBase: “Increases the damage dealt on an enemy with [Exorcise] by 1% per attribute level.”

Now does that mean it increases exorcise’s damage, or does it mean the monster itself takes that much more damage from all overall sources?

That would actually make the spell excellent vs bosses…I will have to look at the tooltip on my priest when I hit c3 and test it out.

EDIT:

No tosbase words all of the damage enhance abilities like that, so it would only increase the damage of the skill itself.

Can we show these skills some love and get a rework. Exorcise-I think allowing it to stay on the ground when triggered would be a good first step, or even a single target would be nice also.

Exorcismus- not sure how it works dmg wise with exorcise, does it stack the dmg from it or does it only work off its own?(will do some testing later) but could use some aoe in its current state.

how many skill point do you guys put in exorcise to use magnus? 1 skill point or is the magnus dmg depends on the lvl of exorcise?

0 in both. They are awful skills.

Imc really need to look into exorcise and magnus , these skill are really not friendly in dungeon or cword mobs place, it make priest and chaplain handicap with such a powerful skill

+1 Bumping in desparation after using 2 skill points into this.

The Exorcise:Duration passive (Increase the duration of Exorcise’s magic circle by 1 per attribute level) doesn’t prevent the circle disappering when monster step in when I thought it should.
Honestly who need duration increase for something that, in all cases, disappeared right after cast

The only way I can cast Magnus Exorcismus now is: carefully cast Exorcise into blank space, Magnus it, lure mobs into it and enjoy the whole 5 remaining ticks, which damages as much as 1 or 2 Aspergillum-ed auto attack .

May be I should invest 1M silver into the passive to increase the damage into 4 auto attack.

My two cents at a buff, just make exorcise not vanish when something walks over it and make magnus have a slight suction effect on dark and demon type mobs.

Would give Chaplain more endgame options.
