Evolution of the Archer/Ranger/Fletcher meta~~~~~~ experts please read and help

So the cookie cutter dps build for this Archer class is (or was) A1>R3>F3. But with the nerf to Steady Aim in iToS people moved away from R3 and even in kToS people are starting to move away from R3.

So people started going A2 for perma Swift Step along with the 25% crit rate attribute at A2. So many poeple on both k and i ToS started going A2>R2>F3.

But then if you’re not going R3 then why even go R2?? Because only thing you get from going from R1 to R2 is only 5% increase on Steady Aim and 5 more points into Barrage which doesn’t scale well per point anyway. ( This is all from the PoV of late game so screw other Ranger skills for the sake of the argument)

So now people are starting to go A2>R1>blank>F3 or A2>blank>F3. So for the first blank people seem to take Scout1 or Wugushi1 and for the second blank people take Sapper2.

So this is where we’re at?? Am i understanding the Archer class dynamics correctly? This is the info I’m gathering after a few days of researching both here and Korean inven forums. In this case I guess A2>R1>Sc1>F3 is all around best one? because you get to move fast while having the best of both Archer and Ranger buff skills??

I’m at A1>R1 right now and I’m so afraid to level any further because I don’t want to reroll. I already have two Wizards and a pet and I don’t have anymore space to create a new character…

Experts please help me out and I think your valuable replies on this post can help many other noobies as well.

I’ve been told that unless you have a dedicated group supporting you for bossing, A2 R1 blank (my choice went S1) F3 will be the best pick. If you do have the perfect setup and unlimited money to invest in the toon, even through nerfs, A1 R3 F3 supposedly pulls slightly ahead.

maybe I’m just different sort of person but I have 12 slots open on my account. I’d say most of my characters are unfulfilled and/or complete failures but I don’t really regret it. I just play the characters I like the most at that moment and use the rest to farm dungeon bosses (if I have the time). What I’m trying to say is that I’m the sort of person that likes to just find things out via trial and error and have made at least one in each base class to get a broader feel for the game. just stopping forever at a1>r1 until you find someone to tell you what to do, which at end of the day you have no idea whether they’re spewing BS or not, is not the way I’d approach. just my 2 cents.

That being said, Fletcher builds are something that really doesn’t kick off until rank6 I’d say and that’s all b/c you need magic arrow before you become that famed boss killer. everything before it is the dressing for this core. a1>r3 was super popular in ktos especially b/c 40% steady aim they have with longer duration. still makes sense to do it imo over there. We in itos have 20% with 10 seconds. Realistically between your latency and server lag and skill animations, you can only fit in so many skills in 10 seconds. Also it’s obviously half of the effect for what you spend entire 3 ranks on, so that’s why a meta developed around trying to use archer’s 25% crit instead and exploring other options. Cookie cutters are there for a reason so if you want it “safe” go for it. If not, experiment and own up to it.

The build paths you mentioned have different pros/cons. They have different purposes/intentions for each character. It’s up to you which you like best. I personally started making a fletcher character going a2>r1>sc1>f3 when pple were still saying a1>r3 is the best and anything else is wrong/suboptimal. it’s a pity I didn’t really finish off that character’s progress to show them earlier :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess I’ll be going with A2>R1>Sc1>F3. Actually this is the first game I’m going with cookie cutter. I hate doing certain things just because they’re what everyone’s doing. I hate that mentality. But this game it takes a long time to level and your build is permanent for that character so I don’t want to regret after going over level 150 or something. I haven’t purchased any tp yet so I have 4 slots for characters but only 3 if I have a companion. I’ll probably buy more slots later. I want to test out QS as well because I actually prefer auto attack based Archer class but then I have to make a new character and delete this one. I’m already attached to this one so…

Where its at for iToS it doesn’t seem to make sense to go higher than rank 1 for Ranger. So I won’t be doing A2>R2 for sure and probably not A1>R3 even though a lot of people seem to still like A1>R3>F3.

Almost all Fletchers still go all the way Ranger 3. I was the first Fletcher 3 with Wugushi I saw in SILUTE, and till today I have only seen one more.
I think this class is rly boring, tbh, but me and my friends needed WBs, so thats it.

Like said above, the blank class you choose Will hardly make any diference when you bossing with a Fletcher 3.

Its kind of funny see how other classes simply cant compete with Fletcher, even when I have seen the same at RO and Bios.

how does wugu1 feel? is it useful?

I enjoy it a lot. I use Wugushi skills for up - mostly Wugong Gu - more then any Fletcher skill even past 220. I can win bosses against 280 Fletchers without Max attributes if there are no other Wugushi and when there are any Wugu against me and I dont need to bother about other Fletchers, I just wait to take their poisons away.

I made a Ranger 3 Fletcher before this one and I used to lose some cubes against Wugushis when there was only one of them. Wugushi dmg are rly scary, they just got screwed cuz they dont share poisons.

People are so geared now that you don’t need to be ultra min-maxed out to do 16% hp in damage on a boss before it dies, instead what’s more important is getting to the damn boss in the first place.

This is how the meta works right now for world bossing: you have a bunch of people looking for the boss with as much move speed as possible (Karachi xbow, Manamana, winrunners, movement pot, chrono haste, movement speed on headgear) and you speed hack through the maps looking for the world boss that spawns. If you find it a whole minute earlier than the next person, you can pretty much guarantee getting a cube because you arrived at the boss first and popped a few magic arrows on it already.

Once you know you’ve done over 1/6th of the boss’s health in damage, you kick back and let everyone else clean up as you enjoy your cube drop.

The ultra min maxing discussion is also mostly reserved for Dullahan, since everyone knows exactly when and where it spawns, so it just becomes a drag race in burst damage. Fletcher’s can actually lose pretty hard here because ma is not good burst, it’s sustain. An int Druid with pass support for chrono can easily out dps a fletcher within 30 seconds, but the Druids overall dos will fall off as the fight goes on longer, or his skills get reversi’d or soemthibg

good?
