Rather than just discussing if it’s ok or not for these prices to occur, here’s some actual points:
-Recipe prices were arguably too high. However, they were the main source of income for most <100 players (before monster silver actually becomes decent). Some tweaks that would work better than the current flat reduction are:
- Reduce the sell price, but only by about 1/2-1/4
- In addition to the above point, either scale the finalized weapon equally, and / or make it so completed weapons are sold for the original (pre-patch) price or at a lesser reduction (recipes 1/4 original, crafted 1/2).
-Even though money starts to come fairly easy around 100+, the market needs a little bit of time to adjust to the changing playerbase. Of course prices are going to be really low at first, but once people know there’s more capital floating around, the prices will adjust accordingly. Now, this will occur at a very reduced rate.
-This dramatic shift really really messes up new players, due to the potion pricing. Archer life was already hell in this respect, but I feel awful for any 50-100 archer moving up in SP potion tier post patch.
I agree with the decision that there needed be a nerf in vendor amounts, but the decision was incredibly hasty and a lot of other closely linked variables went untouched, to great detriment.
