[DropPerKill] Drop rate system- DPK- Explained [Updated]2

With these low drop rates and extremely low spawn. Nobody on the server is selling the item you are after. You spent so much time trying to hunt it like a no life during your days off. Doesn’t that make alot of people feel like quitting?

This system doesn’t promote casual farming. In this specific situation, Mausoleum F4 and F5 are maps that usually get people doing quests or looking for Cerberus.

The first time i farmed Venucelos, at 1.5k± i lost the Sage wall recipe to someone else, decided to farm it no stop, got it like 8 hrs later, and almost got ks’d again! Same experience when farming Medakia Metal decoration.
My only advice if you can’t farm longer than 6 hours straight, is try out your luck on weekends, and farm on a specific spot, if you farm the whole map, the recipe/item will most likely drop anywhere, therefore, more chances to get ks’d. Farm at night and channels you know people won’t show up.
And the most important: Don’t give up.

I personally feel that the drop rates are fine but, of course, I’d prefer it if everything was 100% RNG based.

Having high drop rates is somewhat necessary to ensure that there is a rewarding feeling once that rare item is obtained, but there’s little to no sense of reward when a DPK item drops (for me, at least).

DPK is discouraging because, if you obtain a rare DPK drop and you hardly put in any effort to obtain it, you essentially leeched off others’ work, making it difficult to give yourself credit (however, some people–definitely not me–may attribute this to luck in the sense of being in the right place at the right time).

From the angle where you do actually spend a long time farming for a DPK item, you’re constantly worried that others may have obtained your drop. This can also lead to territorial behavior.

For RNG drops, it is just between you and RNGesus; there’s no victim and there’s no need to feel paranoid or become territorial. You can actually have a comfortable grind.

You farmed sage wall in one spot? And it only took you 8hrs? They almost don’t spawn at all when i cllear that one spot.

Farmed doing rotation as seen on map.

When i was close to reach DPK (3.2k) i focused on one spot, (east room) until it dropped.

I’ve seen this topic floating around for a long time and I’ve always dismissed it as RNG superstition. However it seems possible that dev’s have implemented some kind of count based system.

My question is if this so called DPK is truly implemented, then the drop rate will not be consistent across players (due to drop stealing). So if you can demonstrate with statistical significance that a DPK item’s drop rate varied between 2 players - you’d have proven that it is not RNG.

I’ve not yet read through the whole thread (but I will when I get the time).

Yeah it’s a huge thread by now, it’s worth the read though, and there’s some solid data.

If you want to be convinced faster go to infrorocktors in an empty channel with a swordie or archer and kill them repeatedly. You’ll see the staff and mace (easiest dpk items) always drop in the same order.

Sage wall recipe at 17085 venucelos kills. Took me 3 days of 5-9hrs a day.

I can confirm that Hard Veris Gloves drop every 100 kills.

Wow. I’ll definitely test the Hard Veris Glove.

I’ll also test out the infrorocktors and do some statistical analysis on the drop rates.

Hopefully gather enough data to put this to rest once and for all.

you can also test deadborn scap magicians dropping acolyte parts alternately. I noticed it while farming Melinas Staff of course just make sure you are solo on the channel

O.M.G! Feels bad man.

Yesterday I was trying to drop my first MEDAKIA METAL DECORATION as you can see below:

I killed about 1400 Medakia and It didn’t drop. :frowning:

People commented on TOS base that they have killed 8000 for 2 drops ONLY.

Come on! I will never come back to that map unless Cerberus is alive. -_______-

I’d better level up and get Roxona Leather Boots for more Evasion.

Drake Boots for Lv. 75 also fits well.

Anyways. Good luck.

Ok guys, I’ve decided to test this over the weekend. I’d appreciate it if you could give me some help.

What I need is a mob with DPK with high chance of dropping (or a low DPK count). The mob should also be highly farm-able. The last requirement is that channels should be empty / low popularity (infrorocktors are not ideal). Please suggest what I should test with. I’m time limited so I can’t do all the research on mob / DPK drops myself.

Big thanks to any help / suggestion offered. Once this test is done with statistical significance I will publish my findings to put this case to rest once and for all.

Sicarius 1F.

Shaman Doll.

It spawns all the time and that’s an empty map.

I doubt it’s DPK…

I think it’s luck too.

I have one of those in a collection I haven’t even completed.

Can’t believe you put that thing in a collection. D:

I’m going to quote my last post:

Oh, I meant East Siauliai Woods, not West…

Well, this was forever ago when it wasn’t worth anything because it didn’t build into anything.
