Hi guys, I’m trying to come up with a DPS monk
Why not a dps druid? Be the master of mushrooms!

I’m set on being a monk
If you ever change your mind, consider a druid xD
Bump please help guys

Here is my suggestion that stays true to your original build somewhat.
Change Deprotected Zone to Cure, since you need more damage in the early levels unless you start to do partying. Cure and Heal deal damage if you didn’t know. Kept Safety Zone since it’s actually pretty decent. Divine Might is also kept the same way as well.
Paladin stayed the same as before, combining Heal and Restoration together is good.
Palm Strike and 1 Inch Punch can both apply a bleed and deal good damage themselves as well. Hand Knife can apply an Armor Break debuff for helping against high Physical Defense targets. Double Punch is your main ability to use inbetween cooldowns.
This build works pretty well, except the beginning might feel kind of slow at first. But the game will start to pick up the pace mid-late game.
Edit: You can probably keep Deprotected Zone if you plan to do a lot of partying in the beginning since you don’t need both the damage of Heal+Cure to party (Only need damage of both when soloing). So that you’ll be able to have Level 10 Deprotected Zone for when you want to lower the defense of enemies while Monking. BUT, you already have Hand Knife to lower the enemy’s defense.

So, in short you basically want something like this?
Iron Skin can somewhat be viable, it’s truly only useful when you’re up against an enemy that is able to attack a lot at once with physical melee attacks. Iron Skin cannot work against ranged physical attacks. Iron Skin doesn’t have a block limit like Safety Zone, so it can take however many hits it can during it’s duration. The only real problem about Iron Skin is that it’s duration is pretty short for how long the cool down is for it. (Oh, and since Iron Skin doesn’t have a block limit like Safety Zone, it’s pretty good when against multiple enemies attacking you and they use physical melee attacks.)
It’s the same with Golden Bell Shield, it’s really strong but the duration of the ability that it can be used for is too short for how long it’s cool down is. (Meaning you’ll most likely only use it when you absolutely need to. But I guess you’ll usually only use it when against bosses or overwhelming amount of enemies.)
Unless you plan on soloing everything late game, since Monk can only be chosen later on in the game, you might want to use the above build. But if not, you should use the build that I had stated before.
I say this because if you’re planning to be in a party, there’s usually a player that will take care of bolstering your defenses so you won’t need Iron Skin/Golden Bell Shield.
Thanks for your thorough response.
On paper (Or rather computer screen), almost any build can work as long as anyone doesn’t throw out their damage source out the window because even supports need to defend themselves. (Not anything can work for PvP though)
As far as I know, your current revised build works really well DPS wise once you start getting into Monk. The game might seem a bit slow soloing before you reach Monk (Since most of your damage will most likely be coming from Heal, and then lowering defenses with Deprotect Zone then using basic attacks. Although there will be a period during Paladan once you start using Smite for reliable damage.).
But since you won’t be soloing since you’ll have a friend, the leveling process should be a bit faster until you start to reach Monk and then start dishing out some grand damage. Fully upgraded Double Punch deals great damage in between ability cooldowns.
Your trump card will most likely be Golden Bell Shield, it’s duration is always too short since the max level of it is 5 no matter what you do, and it’s cool down is very long. But since it DOES make you invincible from any kind of attack, you can use it and then during the short period of time of invincibility you can use that chance to kill your target before you die. (Like for example maybe it’ll be used as a trump card surprise when low HP and then finishing off an monster/boss/player.)
Golden Bell is a Channel. You can’t use any skills while channeling.
Anyways @OP, I’m also looking to make a Monk. Most likely, I’m going to make a bruiser-esque monk.
Lets start from the top,
Cleric
I am not a fan of going into the cleric tree after the initial, forced, cleric1. Safety Zone is a single tile area for its effect, making you stationary. In a situation with small numbers, I can see it being amazing. However, in dungeons vs. a lot of adds, it’s not going to hold up too well. Divine Might got a nerf, and is only worth going into for 1pt now, and fade is also worth one point. However, I would just look for someone that’s going an actual healer if you want to utilize those skills. For a self-sustaining monk, I don’t think it’s worth.
Priest
If you go priest, you need to go at least till Circle2. It’s more Bruiser oriented than the other routes. You get a Flat DEX buff from Monstrance(why you only put 1pt into it apparently, because it doesn’t scale with skill lvl), a %Phys.Def buff from Aspersion, and On-hit flat dmg buffs from Blessing, and Sacrament. On top of that, Revive acts as a great survivability card, allowing for x-sec of invuln. after reaching 0%HP, and Mass Heal is a 20% max hp AoE heal, on a 30sec CD. Overall, probably the best bruiser route to go.
If you chose to go Circle3, Stone Skin offers a buff to Block Chance. Apparently, only really useful to shield-users. So, Clerics, and Swordsman. Otherwise, it’s pretty much useless.
Krivis
Krivis is really focused towards DPS, with buffs from Stigma, and Zalciai. Otherwise, it’s focused towards Fire.Res, Hp.Rec, and -Acc for enemies on their Torch, and increasing the # of buffs your allies can have. Def. seems to have more in the way of damage, than Bruiser capabilities, but does offer some sustain with torch. It’s just torch is stationary.
Paladin
Finally, a physical damage spell! As well as, a nice elemental Res. aura, and a great HP.Regen aura. Between Priest3 and Pally1, it really comes down to what you want Sustain, and ele.res? Or +5lvl cap on priest skills+ maybe picking up stone skin.
Sadhu
This is allows you to use your abilities at range. Prakriti also allows you to have mobility to either gap-close, or gtfo. Doesn’t have anything in the way for sustain, but helps with mobi., Damage, and debuffing enemies.
These are my Monk Builds that i’m currently trying to decide between.
Yeah I had found that out earlier today (While watching a youtube video.), here’s what my current Monk looks like.
i got curious about 1 think… you say Sadhu can make you use your skills at range, however dont all skill used while on OOB cast at the boddy? so how does it make you have it at range?
Hello guys , I’ve been intrested in a Monk as well , and would like to know if you guys recommend a Full STR , or Dex/Con/Str ? Dex/Str ?
From what I’ve heard so far…
Full STR is the most popular
STR/DEX is second
I’m not sure if Con is needed (except for lowering SP regen time)
Thanks Kengstai, I’ll try a full STR.
I will try a STR/DEX build
With the way they nerfed Divine Might, Cleric C3 doesn’t really make as much sense anymore.
I’d say you are better off with Cleric C2 -> Krivis C2 -> Monk C2
So you get some very good buffs from Krivis and safety zone/heals from Cleric.
Divine Stigma will give you a very big boost in strength and since you will be constantly killing its almost 100% uptime.
How much did they nerf it?
