Too bad you aren´t an IMC mole-agent, that would spice things up like in some sort of cheesy romantic spy novel.
Answers:
1.- How should it be fixed.
It is of common knowledge that whenever a retail store is caught up in “false advertising” legal consequences are to be expected, yet this is not a solution for the problem, what these retail stores use as protocol to face this sorts of problems is as follows:
a) As useless as it may, making a public official statement regarding the confusion/issue at hand.
b) Offering a similar or near to originally announced (the one with the issue in this case a x2 “double” exp without paying talt)
c) Reinsure and re-gain costumers trust by making a 2nd official announcement, correcting/editing/ the first one which originated the issue/problem at hand.
2.- This is not a question as it is an implication in a inference reasoning based on logical fallacies. But to show you a courtesy:
a) If I saw a coworker did a mistake I´d:
I.- Immediately let him/her know of the mistake he/she had done.
II.- See If I can assist to correct this mistake.
II.1.- If mistake cannot be fixed, go to next link in the chain of command/hierarchy/etc. to ask for aid.
b) If I saw other coworkers blaming a certain coworker for their mistakes I´d:
I.- Go to nearest authority in the chain of command/Hierarchy/etc. to state my version of this issue:
I.1.- If I don´t know anything about this issue working ethical suggest I don´t take sides for I could be posing blame on an innocent part.
I.2.- If I do know the source/origin of this issue:
a) Is the blamed truly at guilt - Stand by coworkers who put blame on guilty party
b) Is the blamed falsely accused - Stand by accused party and state my version of it to nearer work authority.
There… that´s a fairly “common sense” protocol/procedure when shiet hits the fan at work.
And yes Rabbit, mistakes do happen, but a series of continues mistakes hints at “something” failing… and a tho mistakes can take you to failure, a prepared and professional team will have back-up plans and good management of all elements to avoid mistakes and failing as much as possible.
Maybe you’re not the one who decide what to discuss in this topic as you’re not the OP. Plus the title is not about 50 vs 100 but about a bug from the event.
So deal with it mister WK.
As Lostac said :
Put it at 100%. More simple than everything. It’s like when the trader forget to make you pay the product, or like when your teacher gave you a score of 20/20 when you were supposed to have only 2/20… You deal with your own mistake and don’t change things. That’s your mistake.
Yeah but you said it should be fixed some way. You’re pretty much forcing the idea: “IMC SHOULD FIX IT.”
Then, how?
They did it. They apologized and updated the announcement which counts as public official statement.
I’d agree to that only to people who actually got the event before the updates on the announcement. These would bring even more problems of people calling it unfair.
Just like these errors happens on stores. You’re only compensated with similar or near original as announced if you actually finished buying the product. If you never touched it and “is too late”, sorry but you’re not going to be successful in getting cheap goods from stores.
I could even enter that afaik this only applies for paid goods and this is a free event but I won’t go this route.
They did it.
I agree that it’s common sense and with your procedure.
And yes, I agree again. IMC have A LOT to improve. Mistakes does impacts them negatively.
But IMO when mistakes actually happen (talking about MISTAKES here, something they said and was wrong) they actually handle them from so-so to well based on past history. Most of it is corrected within the same day or 1 day from when they notice it’s wrong.
An recent example is the collections confusion from the First Notice about the merge. As much as spam from players we had, as soon as they got confirmation from the dev team we got the answer and an update to the news page.
Considering all this and your position.
Let me ask:
Why are you then getting out of your way to complain about my posture and supporting someone who said this?
They’re clearly taking an existing mistake and trying to make it worse.
It’s the same as picking someone’s mistake at work and making it bigger just for the sake of it, maybe for fun.
So we’re even more off-topic than we should.
IMO the topic at hand should be defined by the title and context of the first/opening post.
At least, it’s what on community guidelines in which we should be following:
I’m not a great example of it, nor you, nor Lostac, we’re on the same boat on this. But unfortunately if you do it, I’ll just do it as well since I’m complaining about your post.
But what if the max grade of the exam was 10? Would you give it 20 out of 10 even if the school or government disallows it? Would you really go against important regulations and systems that doesn’t allow it just because it was wrong and someone complained about it for hours and you got tired of listening?
I´m out. I literally can´t follow any of your 6 (at least) lines of syllogistically reality tergiversations constructed on the assumption of false inferences…
Go home Rabbit, you´re drunk.
Half a day has passed and IMC did not stated anything nor addressed anything. (No, posting an apology is not an statement… and I can´t be more specific/clear as to what it means when I answered to your questioning). This is past news. IMC won.
Peace out. See you all on patch day.
P.S. Imma tell my boss to only give half a steak for the price of (a whole) one, and then say: “I´m sorry, half a steak was as intended.” whenever costumers complain.
…and outside of their updated line of “- [Update] We apologize for the confusion, the Weekend EXP Boost buff you will receive is 50% as intended.”
It still says “Double EXP” in multiple places on the event page… nor talks about the talt that has to be consumed en masse to upkeep said buff…
You guys can argue all you want… but I’m waiting for that delicious 50% base exp nerf so that the 50% EXP buff can be a proper “Double EXP Event”
(And to hopefully get my stolen talt back)
You can’t prove it’s 50% either, again rest of the page says 100%.
Trust the event page. Gets trolled by imc.
The thing is, you’ve eaten the meat already, as well as paid talts for it. False ad. if you haven’t taken it up yet then okay, but damage has been done.
If they said they corrected the announcement because the intended is 50%, of course I’m going to trust who has the source code instead of who doesn’t give a single thing to support his claim and tries to presses it in an arrogant way
Sorry but lacking information isn’t technically a lie. It’s still wrong though.
A lie is intentionally posting a wrong thing there and that doesn’t happen. That’s the only thing I’m complaining about your posts.
Which by the way, you could open a new bug report thread or report by ticket instead of discussing with me if you cared about having the problem solved
Repetitive mistakes…no longer seem to be mistakes, but rather a lie. You’re doing it on purpose, Even a human can eventually correct himself after doing the same mistakes over and over. This is too much already.
Repetitive cover ups…makes people lose trust.
This is what IMC got really. False ad is a type of lie, this is a false ad. Not misinformation. You’ve promoted 100%, double, then gave out 50% AFTER people had starting getting your so called “double” down into 50.
Call me a troll all you want, now I get why you get a lot haters here now, everyone who disagrees with you is a troll? Okay.
You claim that IMC has repeated mistakes but by searching old NEWS posts I can find like… uh…
Please remember me if I’m wrong but the only “bad mistake” from event announcements I can recall is:
The event back then where the list had golden anvils but was still diamond anvil by the end of event. Change that happened due to player feedback.
Actually, I can only remember this instance of a really bad mistake on announcement.
Can you cite any others please?
Let’s see:
False advertising is the use of misleading, false, or unproven information to advertise products to consumers.
an intentionally false statement.
Reads event page
They’re:
A) Not advertising products to costumers. But I won’t go this route.
B) They apologized. It was an announcement copy-pasted from previous week. It’s clearly an error. It’s not an intentional “hey, I’ll reduce EXP from players”.
I actually don’t have a lot of haters here. But they do appear a lot. Did you already count? It’s like from 5 to 10 users maximum.
And that’s including alt accounts like it happened in this case (and the alt account some of the same people makes to evade bans or for other reasons):
If they’re actually banned from forums. I don’t need to explain who’s trolling and who’s not, right?
But why do they appear so much and seems to be many? Because the HUGE discussions that happens.
But where do those HUGE discussions comes from?
Population discussions where they only includes CCU doom post. I insist to use both measurements, CCU and Unique players.
Mixing, overestimating and making up issues. Some things such as old fixed cheats being repeated over and over makes other players follow the same line of thought - even when that doesn’t apply anymore.
Intentionally insisting about something without providing any valid argument for their claims. Which is a little fine depending on what it is about, but also using this to try to spread even more hate or misinformation.
We’re actually in the group 3) and I didn’t actually call you a troll before.
I respected you - I wasn’t going to treat you like a troll. I understand your reasons for being frustrated with whatever you are.
And you simply assumed your position:
And going back to what we were talking about:
We’re on the group 3 type of haters. Let me remind you:
Intentionally insisting about something without providing any valid argument for their claims. Which is a little fine depending on what it is about, but also using this to try to spread even more hate or misinformation.
All I’m complaining about your posts is that you have literally 0 - zero - things to support what you claimed.
Yet you have the urge to claim “lies, lies! I’m the right one, IMC is the wrong, I’m the true Dev, I know what should be intended, not who coded the event.”
You’re displaying a troll behavior, you assumed you were already like this when you came back, so, it’s just natural to call you a troll - because you’re acting like one.
It’s not hard for us both to be humble and drop the useless never-ending discussion. But, sorry, if you insist on trying to make a little show trying to play the smart “I’m the right, I know more than the devs, I’m da god”.
I’ll just keep answering to you and we’ll keep going on.
Oh. I actually forgot something. Thanks for focusing your hate too much on discussing with me in a few threads. That actually takes a lot of your time and prevent you from trolling in other productive threads where people are discussing more useful stuff. I’m a great bait for these troll-haters don’t you agree? :poporainbow:
LunarRabbit doesn’t necessarily disagree with your base claims, he just disagrees with your use of words like “lie”. Because a lie means it was intended, that IMC did it on purpose.
But the truth is the staff simply copy-pasted the old double EXP event rather than write a whole new one. I believe they probably didn’t even know it was supposed to be +50% and not +100% because of how long it took them to verify/correct the announcement.
Did the staff make a mistake ? Yes. Is it a miscommunication between the different departments at IMC ? Most probably.
But it is not a lie since they didn’t intend it.
But I think it’s actually even worse this way.
It’s a beautiful proof of things we’ve known for so long: they don’t double check information, they don’t communicate with each other, they don’t pay attention to their work and the details.
Personally, I call that being unprofessional and lazy.
What kind of communication team doesn’t check the information before posting them ? You’d think that after two years of TOS, and even more years of being a game company, they’d know to at least do that…
I like the fact that they modified a couple of lines in the announcement too, but didn’t completely redo it in order to have the correct one and explain how they messed up.
By the way, two easy solutions because they messed up would be to turn it to 100% EXP or simply make it last longer.
Still waiting for the Talts too. WorkingAsIntended™ or not ? I’m glad I don’t take part in this kind of event.
… When games make you feel you’re “glad” you don’t participate in events
Apparently I don’t reply to other threads because none of them seem to be reply worthy? Which is why I end up in this thread always. There aren’t even a lot of new threads. Most of the new ones I see are also related to this thread.
I ignore threads that do not interest me, simple.
Advertisement isn’t always about products. Remember, the problem here is that the correction was done after the event started. They fixed it later. Still advertised as 100%, changed to 50%
100%/Double:
headline
content
images
Copy paste or not, human error, whatsoever, they know what they’re getting into. Anyone copying or reusing the crap page could also see clearly that it’s double, multiple times. Even added a Kupole related text to make it double.
Then they edited it, still forgot about the talt. They probably didn’t know. Big miscommunication. Which lead to this false ad lie, perfect.
Correct, but again it’s more than enough to be seen as a lie because the possibility of:
They fcked up, they cannot change it back to 100%.
They simply made a mistake.
^ with any of the two possibilities, leading to their edited announcement page.
Now, I believe that they fcked up and lied because the fix cannot be done in time.
Rabbit believes that it’s an actual mistake
That’s all there is to it.
Before you probably misunderstand, I don’t hate you or anyone else on the thread.
If you wanna see how I look like when I reply with hate, go check out one of my threads. Good luck finding it, lol
