Doppel cyclone nerfed?

With the new changes starting tomorrow,

Cyclone

  • Attack speed increased by 33%.
  • Duration reduced from 0.3 seconds per skill level to 0.2 seconds per skill level.
  • Base AoE attack ratio increased from 3 to 8.
  • Attack speed and basic attacks will no longer result in additional hits with this skill.

Is that a nerf or an improvemeny? Pro and cons? What do you guys think?

Why do you need opinions? Just do the maths. If cyclone’s duration at level 1 is still 2.8 seconds, then it’s a big buff

is greater than [quote=“diss.sebastian, post:1, topic:350988”]

You basically get to execute it faster and spend less time spinning and more time winning.

Because I don’t understand, thought it was a skil that was already OP

Fix.

Nerf/Buff. Depending on the situation

Buffs.

IMO, this is a decent buff. Aoe Attack ratio +8 alongside with your base aoe attack ratio and gears will be nice.

fix or nerf in comparison to how it was till now?

I think it was a nerf since IMC didn’t know how powerful a 50+ true multi hit with max DOV and quicken can be.

+33% attack speed is like hitting for almost half a second more at the current speed, at level 15 DoV (not to mention all the benefits of doing it faster). In what situation could that possibly be a nerf?

The duration was the one I quoted not that.

the point of this:
"- Attack speed and basic attacks will no longer result in additional hits with this skill."
Is what is considered a nerf…
because people got used to a bugged mechanic, myself included.

You could, before, buff yourself with DoV and ASPD buff from chrono, and hit 3x times faster if you hold auto attack during cyclone… that was OP.
now you can not do that, but they compensated that with +33% increase in speed that the hits are delivered.

I would say that it is probably going to be the same (may be just a little lower) damage total as before.

Duration at level 1: 2.8 seconds
Duration at level 15 (before patch): 7 seconds
Duration at level 15 (after patch): 5.6 seconds

5.6 seconds +33% ~ 7.448 seconds

@Kostik yeah, for ET play it could be a nerf. This very same patch was discussed here in the forums last year and it was already concluded how many mobs you’d have to hit at the same time to have the same or better dps as without the patch + quicken. Idk why we just got this patch and not back then but then again… wugus…

yea, i do agree that that change is needed, to make other classes viable or at least be contest worthy, i guess

so glassmole card will fall?

My point was lvl 15 cyclone now is within full duration of cleave debuff which means both of your cyclone overcharge are now within the debuff duration. That’s a buff. The nerf about the duration is when during certain dps checks in Solmiki, you might need the extra duration. I’m well aware about the increase attack speed. That’s why I quoted it as a buff.

Be happy that it’s not a total hitlimit of 5 hits [1 hit per chariot and enemy] per CD time with no overcharges like Merkabahs “skill improvement”.

There’s basically no difference between whirling around a sword horizontally and getting rolled over by a wheel vertically[as the center of gravities position changes, the position and times where force is applied from to also changes] (even Breaking Wheel hits several times while it’s spinning around), yet the developers randomly apply this and that effect onto skills without even explaining why and how it’s supposed to work/be balanced…

So, to sum up, for solo playing is a buff, for party and some places like ET, it might be a debuff, right?

nerfed and we already expected that

Why do you consider it a nerf? your point of view would be much appreciated.

But is it worth taking Dov15 anymore via the skill reset trick after getting abilities? I mean main reason for dov was the cyclone, so is the skill worth it anymore…

The new cyclone is, imo, better, because you’re not relying on buffs for it anymore (as a solo player I found the reliance on chrono for full strength to be a pain in the backside).

It’s a little, a very little less effective, but at least now the skill isn’t bugged anymore and you can count on yourself.

Plus, as mentioned by @Sensate, it gives an interesting reason to go barb 3 again (which I did and I’m happy with that) because of warcry increasing cleave debuff up to 15 sec, indirectly greatly increasing the damage output.
