Does anyone remember Ragnarok Onlines Beta/Launch?

I remember those betas in RO and I remember some of the glitches (blacksmith upgrades and some dupe %$&#%$)…
Any of you have ever played kRO?
Its amazing how much people play until today…

I think MMOs will never go back to the old days. It is something irreversible, what with veteran MMO players knowing many different ways to exploit this genre, P2W, and bots everywhere.

RO at the beginning was the most pure, and enjoyable experience. It was one of the best titles at the start of the MMO era. Anyone that went through it before will understand, and naturally miss it when they compare to the bullsh*t today. Basically, it doesnt matter whether it’s a new game or not, veteran MMO gamers that started years ago will still take the lead compared to people that started recently.

In my opinion, it doesnt matter what new MMO comes out or what system gets implemented, the sad truth is that MMO is dying, or in fact, already dead.

Yep remember that day, but also remember the reason why RO has grown up. Because we have complainted and show dev many wrong points in game, and dev listened to us, then they fixed it.
Pretty sure you guys still remember how hard we “mortar” the dev that day. A lesson is: if we made it easy, RO would have dead.
So now in ToS, you know what we should do, people complaint about it because they still care about it. If they arent, they can simple ignore and play another game.
A MMO game without complaint to imrpove and discussion is dead game.

The good old day’s when level 60 was a high level, leveling took months and everyone would chill in glast heim church. Pre-Rebirth was the ■■■■.

I tossed in the $50 because I had it, and I wanted to support the game. I’m just hoping that the state it is in now isn’t the state it will always be.

The game has a ton of potential, but it’s not built so much in a way that says, “We need some money to keep things running,” as it is, “We are greedy, so you need to pay to do anything at all, and not paying puts you at a severe disadvantage.” I legit pity the people who will be playing who cannot afford tokens if they keep this same system which is basically forcing people to buy them to get anywhere, at least, when it comes to market and trading. There are less lazy ways to prevent RMT… Which is not preventing the bots, clearly, because they sure as hell are willing to pay to bot, and removing the $10 (USD) option, while leaving the $30 and $50 option, didn’t seem to deter any of the bots… So imagine how things will be once the game is free.

There are methods that won’t hurt the economy the way these taxes and limitations based around possessing or not possessing a Token are. Granted, yes, you can buy them from other players for like 400,000 Silver (I think that’s what people are selling them for)… But… You don’t exactly get that much Silver until later in the game unless you grind your ass off. It’s almost like the RMT botters KNOW that the game is built this way, which is why they’re PAYING to gain entry. “Remove the botters’ reason to bot, and you will have no bots.” This is something a friend of mine said in regards to the bot problem here. That structure is the only complaint I have about this game. Honestly, for the sake of the future of this game, I’m hoping that they’re just trying to get funding together for the future, and fully intend to fix things before things go F2P… Rather than just doing these things as a cash grab because they expect the game to tank.

The game also only had one job class to switch to. I’m not sure a lot if people from the West can handle a true kmmo today. If this game was like Iro on release it would fail miserable today in the West.

Wow that necro.

Alpha player here. I remember it. It was hell, but a good one. When you’re at that age you’re so enchanted by its charm, especially if that was your first MMO ever. The lag was far from your mind and you just have fun even if back then 56kbps dial-up was slow.

Now it’s just hell because of Renewal, P2W gears that made attaining god items pointless, and severe mismanagement.

Like what you said its 15 years ago. To think that a lot of years passed already and they don’t even know how to properly PUBLISH their game and Care for their potential customers. That’s like not even learning from your mistakes. They didn’t even bother to read how DLC’s work and how it would clearly Mess them up. You can’t seriously Compare 15 years ago to today’s market and how games are handled today.50 bucks isn’t too much but spending it on a game that’s not worth it is just stupid. I could buy better games like Overwatch.

I won a christmas thing where they sent me 3 poring piggy banks…
poporing, poring and a drops colored ones… Lol…
I played RO in alpha when there was literally just alberta payon and prontera.
I remember …

speaking of RO and ToS, I really don’t get people playing ToS because of the RO nostalgia. it’s pure BS. it’s as if RO is gone for good. You’re just fooling yourselves people. there are still tons of RO servers around in case you haven’t been informed yet.

RO of its time was vastly superior to other products on the market, cant say the same for TOS’s quality
