Does anyone play both ToS and FFXIV?

I just see the writing on the wall, I’ve been in enough communities.
FFXIV is a very well balanced MMO and there are still a small subset of people who pick at things (these don’t stop people from playing the jobs they want in all content, and getting teams/parties but there are complainers).

Legit in 3.0 prior to 3.2 (where they changed the VIT stat to also provide damage for tanks) people were opting to exclude Paladins in favor of War/DRK (these are tanks) comp (there are 2 slots dedicated to Tanks, 2 to healers and 4 for DPS).

The issue? Paladins did less damage then Warriors and Drks. All tanks are made to survive content, PLD excels in phys def, DRK in Magi def. All tanks are made able to contribute enough DPS for the content, but WAR and DRK do more so forget PLD. This wasn’t a casual concern just a concern of the hardcore community. Even going to the point of WAR does 40 more DPS then DRK, so Double Warrior instead of War > DRK.
Then they changed STR/VIT and reduced DPS checks of fights to try and alleviate this small portion of the community.

The Casual playerbase did at one point hate warriors when they were underpowered compared to paladin (although I played both during this time and had no complains about my WAR) while the hardcore community really disliked them (though some teams still used them).

Tree of savior is flipping over Peltastas and what not, and this is a larger % of the community. Then FFXIV’s. Hell before it was (and theres still demand ) “Need Linker”.

Lol @ anyone who thinks they’re safe from exclusion in Tree of savior. This game is inherently going to have a lot of balance issues because of its class variety, and customization.

FFXIV got a lvl 60 patch now but I haven’t tried it… its not even possible to play that game pre 50 ~ 60 because you are required to queue up for dungeons for several of the storyline quests starting at around lvl 15, and NOBODY queues up for those low lvl dungeons

Well this explains a lot then. Yeah, not sure why I was doing this to myself honestly.

Maybe I wanted one nice person during a pug run and kept on running it over and over…

I’m going to have to eat my own words sooner or later.

At the time being… I have not encountered toxic players that rail on ‘why are you not healing properly’ and stuff like that. I have encountered players that /strongly and violently/ insist on picking a certain build because otherwise, you are scum

That’s not true.
The Roulette system is there specifically to solve this (and has been there from day 1).
Under level 60 you get EXp (a lot) for doing a roulette. At 60 you get end-game currency which is very desired, for doing roulettes
Roulettes pair you with people looking for dungeons which is how they make sure players of all levels are able to get a party.

The thing is as a DPS class, dps classes have the longest ques. However there are always people available for content that is in the Duty finder.
If you are a tank class at any level you will have fast ques. Healers also have fast ques (just not as fast as tank).
Only time Tank que is slow is for 24 man dungeons, and by slow I mean around a 10-20 minute wait. Otherwises tanks almost always have instant queues.

FFXIV is very very traditional MMO, great thing about it is, there are no meta build, other than when 3.0 first introduce the hard-content required heavy DPS check, which ppl seem to avoid specific tank class,

Roulette system mean that even late joiner would not be left behind, and also give ppl which reach the cap a reason to run low level dungeon

yet, there are issues in FFXIV too
some DPS class feel very similar, even the skill are similar just different animation

tank class feel very similar either, with Warrior slightly exception

Personal housing is the biggest failure

endless grinding for end game gear, which could become trash in 1 or 2 update

no diversity among class, but that’s give easy balance

but the lasw straw that stop me continue playing FFXIV is the community, the endless debate of DPS meter, it is as toxic as those “meta or go home” philosophy

Loved the level sync in ffxiv. Makes it easy to dungeon with RL friends anytime. In tos I rarely get to group with friends because our levels are all different.

Also loved linkshells (social guild system). Had multiple linkshells for friends, raids, world boss hunting, etc. Here it’s ridiculous to have to level to 200+ just to make a guild.

tos sometimes feels like a solo MMO compared to ffxiv.

i did play FF14 for abt 2 months when it came out. the graphics is nice. very clean and smooth. after i maxed level i found myself doing the same thing over and over. was fun experience though and loved pressing the limit break. :joy:

compare to ToS. FF14 sure wins, because its a more complete game. ToS can be on par though if IMC can make the improvements.
