Tree of Savior Forum

Does anyone play both ToS and FFXIV?

Never thought about the forum thing but that’s a good point lol. And yea, the restricted global chat kills it for me as well. Without having a guild to talk to while running around and questing or grinding, I do occasionally want to jump in global chat and joke around and talk to people, but considering I only have so many microphones, and I want to save them for trades and for finding groups, I really don’t want to waste it on banter, even though that makes the game that much more social and enjoyable.

Yeah and both games fail.

Yup and they had problem using the LB.
Which is why in the summer of last year (During the Savage Alex raid season) They gave them (and other Jobs) buffs. So now greased lightning is even easier to maintain through fights, and HW in general gave monk quality of life When a boss disappears you can start charging Chakra, to get an attack for when the boss reappears, or change your Forms on the fly, so even when bosses aren’t untouchable you’re preparing for them to return instead of stuck starting from scratch.

FFXIV has a few different things you can do for end-game (although you can start some earlier)
If your a crafting class - Crafters make money, and gear, new gear becomes available at level 60 as a crafting class, and you aim to get the even higher tier of gear above that so you can then do the stronger crafts, which other crafters/gathers desire and even battle classes (as an alternative way of gearing up).

Gatherers likewise make money, and fund crafters. New ores require new gear to be successful at obtaining, and you want to utilize your gathering skills to maximize profits and collectibles.

Battle classes have their gearing yes, but their raid contents are Alex, Extreme primals, the 60 Dungeons (of which there are quite a few now).
Niddhog EX. 24 man raids of Void ark and Weeping City. The Diadem as an exploratory area. There’s the new aquapolis dungeon which you have a random chance of appearing while doing time scrolls. The relic grind is there as well. Savage modes of Alex. And in a month they’re bringing out another piece of content with tiered floors meant to be a sort of rogue-like in FFXIV where casuals can start but they presume only the hardcore will make it to the end.

Then in general…
You have The Gold Saucer activities (chocobo racing, Lord of Vermillion, Triple Triad, etc.) which are far more indepth then our simple card battle

There’s of course still doing Fates for certain key items.
Trying to get achievements, mount farming certain fights. Fates and hunts.
Farming mobs on the map for crafting materials… as a battle class…
Housing/Free company housing, and crafting furniture for it.
The Chocobo companion also has a lot more going for it then our current companions (except we have more variety in species type vs just changing colour of chocobo’s, giving them their own skills and raising them).
Then there’s PvP.

It be hard to say FFXIV is lacking in end-game when there’s so many different options of things for you to do in end-game.

Again harshest thing I can say (it’s not a negative but it is something Tree of savior does in favor of it) is that tree of savior has a lot more customization/variety in builds so you can be a Highlander, pirate Templar with full SPR, or a 50:50 INT:SPR Thaumaturge who also becomes a Warlock.
Classes are fun to play with if you don’t get caught up too tightly in the balance issues of Tree of savior.
FFXIV devs on the other hand regret making Arcanist evolve into Both Summoner and SCH, because making a healing class stem out of a DPS has made handling the SCH complicated balance wise. Limiting build variety is how they maintain their game balance.

This post depresses me most of all because I see you went the shinbo route I was going on my swordie till I gave it up to make my archer (in hopes of decking out my future shinobi for some hope at doing reasonable dps) but I’m guessing this has not been your experience?

I played FFXIV up through the expansion and I really enjoyed it. SCH was my main role most of the time, and I found it to be extremely rewarding. I loved being able to throw down a short or full dps rotation inbetween heals (depending on the content). The sense of responsibility and teamwork is where FFXIV really shines in my opinion.

The major downside to FFXIV is that it takes a large time commitment to get the most out of it.

idk what your talkin about, i do very good dps with my shinobi, only problem is i dont have no silver to max out my attributes due to IMC constantly nerfing silver gain and messing up the marketplace

Oh, I gathered different from saying both games fail LOL, ok so maybe that does give me hope that I can farm up a ton on my archer to feed my shinobi dreams (minus the attributes…until IMC allows us to transfer silver to alts which is probably never going to happen).

I was playing them both but I found I spend far more time on ToS. So I didn’t renew this month.

No regrets.

I played WHM, SCH, and Bard in FFXIV (Support Slave <3)

Too damn toxic, zero appreciation in FFXIV, like constant ‘HEAL ME’ ‘WHY DID U LET THE TANK DIE’ ‘MOAR MANA REFILL’ ‘BIG PULLS BIG PULLS BIG PULLS’

like dude

im trying but the other healer/bard is afking/dead/DPSing WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE DPSing

Or I just need to ‘gitgud’ but damn FFXIV is just not my cup of tea.

TOS has one plus side and that playing as support or healer you seem much more loved and appreciated.

edit: i really like playing as male miqo’te and costume collecting but the toxic levels of zero appreciation kills me ;v;

Every mmo ever?

20 characters

RO didn’t have this level of toxic tho

Same with TOS

I feel support/heal classes are more appreciated in TOS by a long shot.

That sounds rough. Did you not have a very supportive fc or were most of your experiences just through pug runs?

I think you got some rose tinted glasses on. But everyone has their own opinion.

More like the cohealer was either dead, afk, not pulling their wait, or blatant trolls… The bard/coBard was fudging up mechanics (pls refill mana timely)

Or you know, the tank had terribad gear

And yet, the healer gets the blame c:

i want to believe

I agree with you having played support in both games (RO & FFXIV), I haven’t tried a support build here yet though. @_@a… but it’s nice to hear you’ve had a good experience so far.

The only time I had the big pull demand was back in 2.X for the 50 dungeons which can be mass-pulled.

As a response to player feedback they’ve structured dungeons pulls differently which means while you can still do some large pulls, they’re all in all smaller.
Even still if you do a small pull no one gives a crap.

Anothe response to player feedback was changing cutscenes in dungeons after the preatorium as they found impatient players would rush, as such you have cutscenes put after the dungeon instead of during it. Which again helped with the community.

The closest thing you’ll find to a toxic environment is really if you’re going to hardcore content (Savage, EX primals) in party-finder, where the expectation of the community (for that content) is to of watched a guide for that.

TOS if anything will likely be worse because its balance issues are more apparent. While Swordsmen are getting griefed to an extent currently, it will not be long before “Ah geez, its a Bokor 3. We need a real healer!” and so on.

60 DRK/60 WAR/60 PLD, 60 AST/ 60 MNK.
Tank main who heals often.
I always offer suggestions to people interested in Tanking/healing because the vast majority of things people get troubled with are avoidable (the game just didn’t illustrate these things well prior to Hall of Novice, and I’ve never gone into the Hall of Novice to know if it teaches well).

[internal screaming intensifies]

Well to certain extent it already is like this ‘you can’t be a cleric unless you have c2 for 10 heals or priest mass heal’

It’s currently happening with Earth Tower, which is our only end-game content right now, you are most unlikely going to be accepted into an Earth Tower party if you don’t have the core classes for it.

Yeah, I agree with this. The closest thing to a toxic environment would be running pug hardcore content.

In the early game it was common for parties to coach new players (tanks especially) through their first runs. I’ve mostly encountered a helpful community, and I made sure to help new players by offering them advice, as well.

If they change the random group finder to always include a cleric tree character that will be the next complaint people will have. Not that you need a healer in the first place to do dungeons/missions.
