Does anyone know how exactly Sneak Hit's +crit chance works?

As title says, has anyone done some testing on sneak hit or has info on how exactly it works?

I’m planning on having a circle or two of rogue in my build, but I’m not sure how having sneak hit would affect my stat distritbution. If it adds a flat crit chance at the very end of formula then I can just go full/high str. If it is multiplicative at the very end or just affects my crit rate (number shown in stat window) like how swift step does, then it will be very beneficial to have a lot of DEX.

For example, at level 168, with a crit rate of 200, fighting a monster with crit resist of 100, using the crit chance formula: Critical Chance = (Critical Rate - Critical Resist) * (42 / Character Level), will net me a 25% crit chance on the monster. Now if we factor in Lv5 Sneak Hit which does “+70% crit chance”, it could work in one of the three ways:

  1. 25%+70%=95%
  2. 25%*(1+0.7)=42.5%
  3. (200*(1+0.7)-100)*(42/168)=60%

The first scenario allows me to invest mostly in STR, where as the second and third scenario requires a lot of DEX investment. Problem is I can’t find any information on how it actually works. I would appreciate it a lot if anyone can enlighten me on this!

i do know that crit resitance has been buffed so that you can now have a negative crit chance. That means if you do a full str archer with a bit of dex to hit ppl in pvp your 0% + 70% (sneak hit) crit chance can be quickly reduced to 10% if the enemy has a lot of con.

1 - 25%+70%=95% ( from my tests in game)

Some ppl in KTOS was talking about a buff on crt resist so the info from @Kerzenflamme seems acurate.

Also note that any red mob (higher levels than you) reduces your critical chance by tons…

I tested these stuff back on CBT2. Sneak Hit’s crit rate is solid flat % chance BUT it gets reduced by crit resistance of enemies which is why it’s still necessary to max for 90% on pure STR builds.

It makes sense. now on LVL 159 I missed my first barrage critical hit ( 9 critical hits 1 non critical ) looks like enemy crt resist was high…
