So I’m currently 127 and just hit Fletcher (Archer C2–>Sapper C2–>Fletcher–Scout–Cannoneer) is the plan. And I actually want this to be a thread where we can compile some information and ideas on Sapper. I saw there was another sapper thread but it seems pretty old and didn’t want to necro an old thread. So making a new one. I’m having a lot of "success’ or enjoyment with my class so far and the ideas that I envisioned in my head seem to be translating fairly well into the game. Here’s my biggest dilemma at the moment: Coneal. This skill seemingly only works on Claymore. And I have ideas for how to creatively use the skill and make use of it. But is it really necessary? It doesn’t work on Punji Stake. I’m not certain if it works on Stack Stockade. I’m looking to PvP and GvG so I’m trying to work out my game plan if you will. I feel like conceal isn’t going to really be a necessity. Sure, your claymore is invisible. However. With a ranged class, if you’re zoning out melee (Do melee characters have a hard engage like a dash in or something?) They still have to approach you and respect the knockdown, no? In GvG even if people can see the claymore…they still have to approach it correct? Unless it can be auto attacked and destroyed. Just want to see what other people are doing. And get their ideas. If necessary I can elaborate more on my path things like that. Let’s share knowledge.
A2, Sap2, Fletch3 is my plan. Interested to hear about sapper stuff since we all know fletcher is beast. I can only see sapper getting better really from what i read. Alot of skills available, but only 1 seems to be worth a damn? Time for a look.
I think Sapper has more than worth skill worth a damn. I’m personally very fond of Claymore, and Broom trap. Depending on what you’re going for, Punji stake and detonate trap can also be very strong. Since supposedly detonate trap detonates magic circles. I know it explodes heal tiles, but it may have the potential to destroy safety wall. And that can be pretty valuable if you don’t have a hard knockdown. Which the only one we have is…Claymore I believe? At least in my path. Depending on how you utilize positioning and such the class has the potential to be very sneaky. I think you can be fairly creative, but that’s based on what I have seen, and what I’ve thought. I haven’t gotten real PvP experience in this game yet, but so far I d believe I’m on to something.
Ar1, R1, Sapper 3, going to Falc and Cannon.
Sapper traps are one of the worst for ping heavy people. I didn’t get the title for the Most Suicidal Archer amongst my friends because I like to die. Animation freezes kill.
Broom Trap is the best. It’s just awful that knockback while setting it up still counts as the skill being used. Otherwise, it makes grinding/farming so much easier.
Claymore helps as an emergency AoE but its damage is just so-so for me. Takes too long to set up, too long to explode, not enough damage + 2 chances for lag to kill me.
Detonate definitely kills Safety Zone. I didn’t die because of it though! >.<
Spike Shooter is…it could be worse. On some bosses, there’s significant damage, on others, not so much. I’ll come back when I have more levels on the attribute.
Collar Bomb has been a spoilt brat for me. Not a single explosion, except for some poor Pink Hanamings.
All in all, still in love with poison, but starting to love traps too. If only that dork of a Sapper Master would start stocking Ash Wood instead of Pine.
I’m not entirely convinced this is due to “bad ping” so much as a server side issue that occasionally spikes.
I have this problem from time to time where my character will anim lock and then not even put down the trap heh. I live in the US and my ping is generally 50-70.
Just so you know, Moon, Fletcher master carries Ash wood as well as the cleric npc Dievr…whatever it’s called. They both sell Ash wood at 12 silver each. I used to farm it until I found out!
I too have encountered myself freezing during animations and I’m quite uncertain as to why and I also live in the US. May be worth looking into as a bug or something. I feel Claymore has useful utility in a GvG setting or PvP setting. For instance…
Having a pine trap (or some other seemingly obvious trap?) set up. I see people opting to maneuver around that and if you have a claymore concealed it’s a hard knock down. A gimmick at best. But still some room for player creativity. That’s why I’m picking up a rank of scout as well to get Flu Flu and the camouflage and barrel. Just more utility and opens the opportunity to help build on Sapper and help in a PvP environment which I’m primarily focused on.
Fletcher master’s willing to sell you wood? I must go pester him! I’ve tried asking him once but he never showed me his shop. It must be that lag again.
I can’t tell what sort of lag these are as I’m in Australia.
