Did anyone else upgrade their PC in order to play?

As the title suggests, did anyone else upgrade their PC specifically to improve their experience playing in either the iCBT or kCBTs? I wound up building a new computer since my five year old laptop (albeit super speedy doing everything else BUT gaming) would drop to 1-3 frames a second during battles, walking through town, or even in certain graphics-intensive areas.

Did anyone else upgrade in order to make their experience better, and if so, what recommendations would you make to others hoping to participate in the OBT/release to improve their gaming systems enough to not have a poor experience graphically?

your computer being crap doesnt have anything to do with enjoying the iCBT at all… please edit the thread tittle into something more relevant.

my old pc runs TERA @90+ FPS but it’s 24~36FPS on this game at crowded place…

man love these empty posts about nothing made by the casuls -

Edited!

Honestly, though, my experience just navigating around in the iCBT was hindered greatly until I upgraded to a better PC. When you’re not able to actually experience party leveling without the game dropping (literally) to 1-3 frames per second, it leaves little to no room to actually get to participate in that facet of gameplay. I instead resorted to finding grammatical errors in translations and submitting those in quests that I could actually do without graphic latency causing me to die in more crowded areas.

Ahhh, I had a laptop with integrated graphics, and unfortunately, I couldn’t put a graphics card into it. I decided on building a desktop and put in an i7 and GTX 960 4gb card.

I wonder what the issue was then with my laptop; don’t get me wrong, sometimes it would allow me ~20fps when idle in some places (namely the entrance to certain dungeons) but the second any action started (skills, etc) it would degrade considerably. I had all the latest drivers and such, but it was simply intolerable to play on.

No

Save your money for later/better purpose

When i saw that you want to upgrade then i couldnt resist to post here, your gonna be pc spec is not much diferent than mine, curently my pc is…

i7 4790k, 16gb ddr3 ram, gigabyte z97x gaming 7 motherboard, asus 980ti and i also using ssd

With that i suffer some serious fps drops on the last day of iCBT (when the GM summon boss and everything), even steparu fps is drop too, he’s using gtx titan i believe

Upgrade wont help you, its purely the optimitazion of the game that need some serious tweaking or something

think you could almost play this game on your tablet. I think i was getting around 600 fps, only time it dropped was when i was getting lag from the server, not PC problems

I bought a shoddy graphics card because I had an integrated one lol. Game ran fine (10-60 fps lol), but had weird graphic glitches that crashed the game from time to time, which I hope they’ll fix :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem is that ToS is using Directx10 and this means you have only one core talking with your GPU (Graphic card) causing CPU bottleneck. Directx12 solve this problem using all your cores in order to talk with your GPU. And multicore optimization with directx 11 or older is hard and expensive

never

phenomx4 2.3mhz
2gb ram ddr2 800
win xp sp3
ati hd 4670 ddr3 512mb
coolermaster 600watts
lg 2053
asus m3n78-vm
samsung hd321hj
coolermaster tx3

The only one possible “solution” to avoid CPU issues is buy an Intel CPU, but even this won’t solve the problem… is just a slight improment. ToS is who need the upgrade to multi-core optimization.

just upgraded my pc

At least I didn’t.

I played on my 5 years old PC (core 2 quad, nvidia gforce 2XX if I’m not mistaken and 4 gb RAM) and on my lenovo laptop (i3, integrated video, 4 GB or more RAM, I can’t remember XD).

When I get home I’ll post most accurate info. Either way, none of my pc where expensive or new and I could play pretty nicely while streaming videos on twitch :3

Edit:

Old pc:
Core 2 Quad 2.5 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 220 1gb (OS Windows 7 64 bit)

Notebook (Lenovo)

Core i3 , 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000

I have a notebook with:
Corei5
4gb ram
And intel graphics 4000
Can I run tos?
I don’t care about the frame rate that much, but I want at least 30~40 fps

Nope. Not here.

if the Recommended Settings is reached, i don’t need to upgrade my PC yet.

But I’m planning to upgrade my Mouse if next iCBT or OBT is released. My scroll gave up after 7months of soft use. I will never buy another Razer DA again. I’m planning to buy this too if OBT is released. I want to try playing using controller while sitting in a comfortable beanbag.

Meh… I might put a new SSD in… I’ve been super lazy about upgrading my HDDs… Not sure if I could get much out of upgrading anything else.

i just use my i5 laptop(4 years old) and the game was quite smooth (30-40fps)

didn’t they say they were aiming their optimization to be able to play on tablets? I can’t remember where I read this but I’m pretty sure they did.
