DEX:STR Chaplain - Looking for some Input! (Lots of Info)

So if hes just using Druid for Carnivory, why is he spamming dagger?

He’s a Chaplain as well. Auto attacks are used when Carnivory is on cooldown, or if there arent enough mobs/not enough health to warrant using it.

Maybe those monsters are weak to pierce by themselves…but I doubt a bit… that all of them are.

The other thing is that afaik daggers are faster. And I have a question about it in my mind since a while… and I wanted to ask it in another topic but it is connected to this.

So… anyone knows if… when you attack with dagger… do you get the matk bonus from your main weapon to your Aspergillum?

Because if it would affect it anyway… then for INT builds…and especially for those who would choose a wand… they should attack with dagger for the attack speed…shouldn’t they? X)

@forgotten_dreams

Yeah im fully aware that hes a Chaplain, i was wondering why he uses dagger instead of mace.

@Ayalon

Im not entirely sure as well. But since he uses dagger to AA 100% in that vid, i think we can safely assume that the MATK from main weapon is applied to the dagger (maybe only MATK thats in weapon description is applied? Like the mace). Because imo, its not worth it to use your dagger just for the pierce bonus without the MATK.

Im starting to think that he uses dagger just for the attack speed. If thats so, using Venom might be a good idea.

The MATK isnt added to any weapon. The only hit that makes use of a weapons damage is the first physical hit. Whether it uses the main hand or off hands ATK depends entirely on what key you use (main hand or off hand attack)

The +100% you see is from the holy damage applied by Sacrament.
As for the choice between dagger and mace, daggers animation have a shorter cast animation, but the delay after hitting is about the same as that of a mace. Daggers also have slightly less range then maces.

Whether you use your main or second attack is mostly a matter of preferences for a Chaplain.

If you want to minmax tho, use mace+dagger as that gives the fastest combination hit in my experience. (mace for hitting sooner due to range, dagger after because of faster speed)

You miss the part that weapon MATK applies to Aspergillum too…( so yeah not rly applied to the dagger itself but when attacking with Dagger to Aspergillum) and still that’s the question if it applies to it even if you don’t attack with your main hand matk weapon itself…but I’m almost sure it does.
I think they didn’t actually separate MATK considering which hand you use like with ATK because it doesn’t matter with most magic skills…It would only matter with Aspergillum actually.

But I guess we can also say MATK from weapons are affecting your whole body because it is magical so just holding it is enough…or something…so MATK is not as connected to the weapons as ATK maybe.

I wish there was more information on the future Cleric classes at higher ranks.

I was considering 2 INT: 1 CON: 1 SPI for my Chaplain, going Cleric -> Priest -> Priest -> Priest -> Cleric -> Cleric, though a 3 INT: 1 CON might be ok too.

For the most part Spirit is rather useless, and doing it only for Stone Skin seems rather meh to me. I don’t think I’d have as many mana problems with potions since Clerics still get good SP. Dunno, maybe someone else can convince me, but I’m not entirely on board with Spirit at all as a stat.

Cleric 2 and Cleric 3 in my opinion seems to be the best options for Rank 6 and 7, or at least I think that’s what I’ll go for (many more Heal Squares, many more Cure hits, Divine Might to push Sacrament/Aspersion even higher, since I’m assuming every level counts for Last Rites since it says its based on Sacrament’s level, so a level 12 Sacrament with Gem and Divine Might should be nice)

Carnivory is really nice, but I don’t want to take Druid just for that, even if it is really good. I would’ve wanted to try Sadhu, but I read Sadhus don’t get your buffs, and even if you buff them, they lose it when they’re called back, so kinda made me turn away from the idea).

I’m just hoping one or more of the future classes offer something for Chaplain. The Wiki states Shepard is Spirit based though there’s no information about what they do and how they do it that requires Spirit. Hopefully there’s something in one of them that adds more to the auto attacks  If Shepard is any good and makes good use of Spirit, maybe it would help me consider raising Spirit more.

Sorry i have worded that poorly lol. What i meant is what Ayalon said. Not the MATK is applied with the dagger, but MATK from mainhand is applied to the aspergillum performed by the dagger.

MATK is applied to any skills used as long as that weapon is still in your main hand. If you attack with the Dagger it doesn’t matter the MATK is already present and added. Just like Arde +fire dmg is added to main hand attacks.

That is why it is also good to Gem and Socket your daggers because whatever Gems you add to it applies to your overall stats and main hand attacks.

I thought I explained that.

Aspergillum is not performed by the dagger. Its an extra hit independant of the weapon you are using.

The magic attack on a mace or rod adds directly to your stats sheet, and its your stats sheet where Aspergillum damage comes from.

It doesnt matter with Aspergillum either. Its just magic damage added as an extra hit. Why would magic stats on a weapon not affect magic? This is pretty easy to check as well, just unequip and look at your status window.

On top of that Carnivory suffers from the same weaknesses Cleric abilities do: cant hit flying targets, and its not true aoe (more enemies means fewer hits per monster). If its good synergy you want Chaplain/Druid isnt the best choice.

I’m a lvl 147 CON/SPR Build Chaplain… I’ve got 80 CON 130~ SPR and Started putting point into INT. I have issues hitting opponents. The Dex provided by Monstrance helps loads, but 25 seconds and I need to recast it again. My stone skin blocks all kinds of physical attack skills. So MONKS please come at me  However, unable to hit at all through full dex builds. So i’m trying to reshuffle stats now, since i haven’t got any reset stats.

SPR increases Mass heal, stone skin, Dzone pDef decrease, and well mana recovery and mp points. I personally think that many supports in this game who want to ā€œfullyā€ support they say, think they shouldn’t go for damage spells, when honestly what is your mana points for ? I’ve had 1 time that my mana was below 50%. And I forgot why that was…

I’m like quite sure that any INT / SPR Chaplains probably need to increase Dex if i want to hit archers or Dex Swordies…

I just pvped a lvl 248 Fencer last night, and we were in a tie, He had his dodge spell on, while I had my Stone skin. Blocks FTW! But since i’m currently using Cafrisun, and well 100 levels below the dude (girl character in the game) I honestly couldn’t be farced to vs him anymore. I needed to find safe spot to cast monstrance EVERY 25 SECONDS. Waiting for Safety zone to pop just to add monstrance, and I was trying to dodge all his hits waiting for safety zone -> monstrance just so i can hit again with my AA’s again, and as this happened he popped his dodge spell. Yes Stone skins quite facken’ sweet. I’ve got almost 1000 Block. But without dex even INT builds are in for a no good in PvP Mode.

INT Builds AA thin air
SPR Builds Block everything
DEX builds hits everything/crit without so much Aspergillum dmg

Honestly this Chaplain is orientated on its Aspergillum for overpowered AA’s but without allocating some points into DEX its useless (for PvP at least) . Honestly, If you plan on using aspergillum for its (magic attack) without dex. Its no magic at all. Or keep casting monstrance, However, I capped at 30ish Dex when cast monstrance without it below 10.

So maybe like 20 points into Dex? Worth it you think?

You are using cafrisun set that lacks accuracy on gloves, get in his level and use a leather or plate glove that gives accuracy and upgrade it, then you are good to go.

I’m not sure I understand… So you were 100 levels below him and you still ended up with a tie…and you are complaining? XD

Anyway INT builds are not even restricted to their AAs only especially not in pvp I think… I guess you just didn’t reach that point where you will have enough other skills to use.

Stone skin becomes worthless later on without spirit. It may be better for skill investment to drop it for more ranks in revive or mass heal. Even as a ā€œdpsā€ heal, mass heal and revive really take care of your party.

Do you know how much Spirit is a ā€œgood enoughā€ amount for block?

I’m a spirit build, I guess an INT build wouldn’t have tied up with a lvl 248 fencer. Cause the lack of Block stone skin gives. But hahah no i’m not complaining i’m trying to find what I need to make the class just unstoppable.

Exactly why I am lvling an int/dex Chap~
But I am having almost 80 DEX and still doesnt seem to be sufficient to land every hit~

Poeple said that aspergilium procs on any attack even if it misses, is that not true?

Base on my experience, no, it is not~It will be nullify completely~

This is true, INT builds have their other spells to deal with high dex targets.

A 280 swordsman with no spirit investment only has 143 block penetration, whereas a max stoneskin minimum gives like 400 block.

So even if you went INT stone skin would still give really good block. Does it not scale well for PvE epsecially bosses? Yeah. PvP? Pretty good still.
