DEX:STR Chaplain - Looking for some Input! (Lots of Info)

From the videos I saw Aspergillum do scale with INT so it does the damage what Aspersion itself would. (it gets more damage even when you equip a weapon with more matk)

What some ppl miss is rly that all magic attack scale with MATK.

The biggest confusing part is that Cure and Zaibas scale with INT too… and yes that should mean those skills should double scale with INT because they get additional damage from INT and its matk too… but I can’t confirm it for sure myself…

But again skills like Carnivory, Merkabah, Turn Undead, Owl…etc. do scale with MATK and they don’t mention any INT scaling in their description.

Because of this a STR build compared to INT should be worse because of Aspersion’s enchance nothing else.

If we compare STR and SPR builds maybe they would be closer damage wise because of crit but SPR gives Block with Stone Skin and bonus to some debuffs and other buffs too…so…

But still seeing videos for comparisons would be nice…
Also we still don’t know what will higher rank classes bring to the table. If there will be something that strengthens normal AAs even if Chaplain was more INT oriented it would be a nice addition to that imo.

So this is something that gets asked a lot so don’t feel bad. Think about it like swordsman skills, do they all say the scale off STR? Not really, but everyone knows that it adds your physical damage to physical skills. What increases physical attack? Str.

The same is for magic skills, the tool tips rarely mention Int, but they always add your magic attack in damage, and int is the stat that does that. Str and Int also benefit from a +10% boost everytime you rank up, and since for Chaps property damage never scales, it’s your physical hit and aspersion that scales. The aspersion hit will outscale the physical one because you can attribute it to a max of +100% damage while benefiting from int.

I’m level 229 INT/SPR chaplain (3:1 ratio). On Dark type enemy at same level, my Aspergillum deals roughly 4.6k-5k per swing, my attribute still at level 40 tho. Its quite satisfying to maul Dark type monster to oblivion with Aspergillum.

Can you F12 a video of you fighting various different monster types and post it to YouTube? I’d be interested in seeing the damage to non Dark type monsters also.

not my videos, and not a test run, but its a good showcase.
against 2 bosses
against 1 boss

full int build with some con, the character in the video is geared very defensively so dont expect max damage

spr is a inferior variant for dps because it doesn’t get the bonus scaling per rank int does(10% per rank) and doesnt scale at all with proper damage spells like carnivory or incinerate

spr however is good for pvp and tanking, because of the block pen and the scaling from stone skin, other wise its worse in all departments compared to int.

one thing you have to keep in mind is that clerics are not meant for pure damage, anything a cleric does will always involve supporting

if you want a pure damage set up, go with wizard or archer.

if you like going against the grain stick with str/dex, i myself have gotten to 240 with it in ktos, i advise you to farm extremely hard and stock up on money, you will need lots of it if you want to keep your damage relevant at 170, if your weapons damage cant keep up with the absurd monster health, stick with a party at all times and play as a support.

Just a tip, get a Ignition too because it works really well with chaplain.

Do the burns from the Ignition dot also trigger Sacrament, Blessing or other buffs?

From what I’ve seen it doesn’t.

Blessing should adds damage on DoTs.

@yodish92

I made this basic plan for Chaplain Int/Con:

Got anything to change about it?
Sac have same CD of Last Rites
Bless 3 for bless attribute
Res 2 for Revive attribute
Aspersion, Stone Skin, Mass Heal max

Then someone might get:
Cleric2/PD for support

Druid2 or Druid1/PD or Kris/PD for more Dps
Got any build?

Its up to you, but Druid1/PD would be a bad idea. Druid1 means you will miss a lot of damage on Carnivory, and wont have the Druids ‘immunity’ skill.

I’m thinking either D2 or Kris/PD

It’s amazing how druid synergize with Chaplain.
Both Int/Con, with ability to make monsters plant type to pierce attack with dagger for bonus damage + Carnivory.
Just hit everything with C to do pierce bonus like in this video:

He didn’t even use stone skin defensively or heal aggressively or cure or 40%HP bonus to maximize damage

But I think it will lack support to party well…

Why would it work?..Does it work like that? I mean Plant is a race not an element or armor type. Do you get any bonus to it?

I’m not even sure what I see in the video. Doesn’t he mainly using it for Sterea Trofh?

With that stats build his stoneskin is effectively useless at higher levels. The damage bonus when below 40% is pretty minimal as well.

@Ayalon

He used it for Carnivory, thats where his main damage is coming from.

Oh you are right he used that too…he used both… But my main question was if pierce has anything to do with Chortasmata’s plant thingy (?) Because I don’t think so. X)

@forgotten_dreams @Ayalon
I’ll be very disappointed if Chortasmata doesn’t allow you you to pierce with dagger, same way Carve Attack should get bonus attack too.
Plant type is Plant Type not an abomination Plant with Plate Armour or something. So, I’m curios. Anyone knows?

So basically if you are not Spr build your Stone Skin is useless later?
I see so many people defending it and trying to keep it 100% up with Chaplain/Monk. Also interested in your experience.

About 40%, you can keep it up after you healed. Any boost in damage is welcome.

Other questions…

Couldn’t he upgrade his damage using Rod for Matk instead of Blunt/Mace weapon?

And I know he wouldn’t survive soloing but with tank or world boss situation could he use cafrisun set for more damage?

Its very minimal damage.

Carve Attack does bonus vs plants, piercing doesnt as far as im aware.

Yes.

The weapon he is using already has high magic attack. That said, it doesnt make much sense for him not to use a Rod considering his build.

No. I dont know about all bosses, but for example Harpeia does physical damage aoe. Using Cafrisun against something like that is asking to die. The fifth would not be worth the damage either, as it pales in comparison to Aspergillums damage, and especially Carnivory.

Thanks a lot for your inputs

I think Plant race is just… Plant race and only bonus attack to that affects it. Diev have some bonuses to them…and I guess there are some equips.

I think for CON build with shield and for tank party members it still should help a bit…but otherwise…yeah.

Im full spirit and i have a white main hand weapon… what i do have going on for me is i have lvl 15 aspersion with 39 points into attribute. against demons i hit them for 3300 from aspergilium hit all in all around 6000 total dmg a swing… i hate to say it but spirit and spirit/ int is the way to go if you want big numbers. if i had the cash to max attribute that would be 61% more dmg but as is i 1 shot demons same lvl as me unless they have ton of life. i plan on switching to int once i get to 200 spirit but i love spirit for the defensive buffs it brings to party when im not soloing
