Dev Tracker Suggestion for Forums

First, thanks to @STAFF_Ethan for the status update and @STAFF_John for being actively part of the community. Hopefully all our staff members remain active in the community as the game comes to launch/beta.

Now I believe that although the staff tend to be fairly active pre-launch, it’s hard to see what the staff say, and as a player just coming into the forums, it doesn’t seem like there’s any staff activity when there is.

To solve that, I suggest adding a “Dev Tracker”.

An example of a dev tracker on another discourse forum is here, it looks like this on the top menu:

And when you go there, you’ll come to this page:

Obviously this can be changed to Staff Tracker, or something similar, but it should definitely be done in some way. This can be done with 0 plugins based on this thread:

But for simplicity, that thread also offered an alternate solution, which is with a plugin available here:

You can pretty much find our staff/mod/dev tracker here:
https://forum.treeofsavior.com/groups/moderators

Something like this?

register_custom_html(extraNavItem: "<li><a href='/groups/moderators'>Mod Tracker</a></li>")

It just needs to be linked to the top.

What Hatter said.

  • bonus points for JonTron.Love that guy.

cant you already do this by clicking on their names anywhere

heck, go ahead and click here > @staff

Yeah, BUT this is the forum where we keep getting topics asking for news when the staff already made a post about the current status of IToS. So yeah.

Thats the equivalent of clicking into profiles on any forum software, and the url equivalent is:

https://forum.treeofsavior.com/groups/moderators

While either of those methods might be used by some active forum goers, a dev tracker at the top is much more visible for the majority and it’s always good to show staff activity to the community.

Sounds like an informercial. haaha

Thank you for the suggestion!

Passed it up the line and you can now see all staff activity on the ‘Staff Activity’ tab on the very right marked with the red box.
