Tried to kill this boss 5 times in a row as a wizard/ cryomancer a few moments ago. The boss is this green octopus/ plant thing that basically has the abilities to shoot laser in a straight line and in a circular motion, throw out some white bolts which then explode and shoot green balls around it. While the boss is basically well thought out and the fight is planned out to be actually interesting and engaging, there are quite a number of reasons why it isn’t.
First of all the abilities the boss has are quite interesting and you need to adapt your distance and position according to the reactions of the boss. This would be awesome if you actually could do that. As long as I keep the boss in the top part of my screen, nothing goes usually wrong and it’s manageable to avoid the skills. However whenever I circle above the boss so that he is in the bottom part of my screen, the bottom of the boss goes out and the animations of the boss don’t show correctly. The green projectiles hit almost instantly (causing damage way before the actual projectile hits) and are basically impossible to avoid apart from pure luck.
The straight line laser is almost always avoidable as long as you keep on circling the boss but the circular one isn’t. It requires you to shift your distance from the boss to either take a step further or flanking the boss by coming closer. This would be fine if the boss would show the animation of using the skill correctly in all situations but again it for some reason does not if it isn’t fully on the screen which happens quite often when it is positioned in the lower part of the screen.
Tragic thing is also that all of the projectiles don’t always hit where they should be hitting. More than once I’ve been way out of the way of the green balls or laser beams and haven’t actually been in the path of them at any point but end up still taking damage. Sometimes the projectile just hits you at the max range right after it has launched. This is quite fatal because sometimes the skills cause knockdown and the boss can jump on you and cast the green balls, basically killing you instantly.
In conclusion while the mechanics of the boss have been well planned out and actually make the fight interesting and engaging, the poor mechanics and bugs in animations and hitbox recognition or visual projectile/hit area correlation make it insufferable. It is not in any way reasonable to spend minutes on fighting a single boss just to be killed by an invisible projectile.
