Corsair C3 first, or Doppel C1 before going C3?

I am making a farming build that will not be very good in PVE, I know. But the end of my farming build will have both Corsair C3 and Doppelsoldner C1. My question to you fine people is should I go straight to Corsair C3 for the Jolly Roger, or wait until rank 8 to get Jolly Roger and take Dopelsoldner C1 after Corsair C2.

Currently I am Corsair C2. My thinking is that the tradeoff would be that I’d get fairly strong attacks with Doppel C1 which might help me get to rank 8 sooner/easier. But on the other hand, I’ll be able to get Jolly Roger 15 much sooner, and maybe Pistol Shot + Hexen Dropper 10 will be useful as well? I don’t know how strong Pistol Shot is compared to Hexen Dropper honestly. I really like Hexen Dropper so far, so if it’s stronger then awesome. Any advice on whether to go Corsair C3 -> Doppel 1 or Corsair C2 -> Doppel 1 -> Corsair C3 is best, is much appreciated. Thanks!

Darn. I was hoping that was the opinion before manamana was used. Is it just weak? I’d hope it was stronger than Hexen Dropper, but is that not the case?

So with that said, would it be best to forgo C3 until rank 8 and take Doppel 1 for rank 7? Or would Jolly Roger 15 be worth getting earlier, and Hexen Dropper 10 make up for delaying Doppel1 knowing that Pistol Shot is hot garbage? I just worry that I won’t be able to farm certain things reliable with Jolly Roger 10… and this is primarily a farm build, so that’s important.

there aren’t many swordsman skills that are stronger than spear lunge+hexen dropper.

The thing is I won’t have spear lunge though, just Hexen Dropper. Is it still going to be comparable to c1 doppel skills at level 10?

um i don’t hink your post is a problem
rank 8 already came out so you can just go for corsair c 3 and doppel c 1 if that’s what you were going for ideally.
are you asking for opinions on different builds for farming other than corsair c 3 ? the only other option would be doppel c 2

I have neither Corsair nor Dopel, but on your question regarding which one you should pick first (Corsair C3 or Dopel C1) I can only advise that you take one that would help you level up faster to reach rank 8 because by that time then it won’t matter which route you took.

Corsair C3 will only improve your existing Corsair skills while adding Pistol Shot in the bunch and the attribute to wield a gun.

Dopel C1 on the other hand brings in new valuable skills on the table: DoV and Cyclone will significantly increase your mobbing power. DPE is a bonus.

Personally, I’d take Dopel C1 first.

I never understood IMC’s idea of making Corsair the only true dual wielding class, then upon hitting c3 make you have the option to side-arm a gun. It would be dope as hell if you could slice - shoot in the same attack using DWA, but, no. DWA has zero effect on the pistol shot. Its the same speed without DWA active.

They really need to tweak DWA - Once cast it will automatically use your C attack right after normal attack without a change in speed. It should work the same way with a pistol, Slice/shoot all within the normal time frame it took without DWA to attack once.

I had such high hopes for my Corsair3… really should asked around before figuring out its a pretty useless path to take (minus pvp, which overall isnt the best pvp swordie class to take).

It’s considerably weaker than Hexen Dropper.

Manamana is a really strong stat-stick, obviously, but I don’t think it comes close to being as good as Deeds of Valor and Cyclone. Pistol Shot has less base damage than Hexen Dropper, it has a lower hit count, it hits fewer enemies, and it has a slower animation. It’s legitimately just a little bit better than using basic attacks.

Also keep in mind Jolly Roger is a small chance to loot on every hit, and Double Pay gives you double loot within X number of hits, so if your dream is getting double Jolly Roger loot that’s pretty unlikely to happen.

I DWA worth even getting? When researching Corsair a while back everyone seemed to say it was too much trouble using, since you have to button mash between main and sidearm, and it wasn’t that strong to begin with. Is that not the case anymore?

How often will DPE be used? I also have a Thaum, so I already have the ability to use Swell Body.

I’m just wondering if there is a noticeable difference from Hexen 5 to Hexen 10, which would make up for the missed damage from going Doppel 1 first. My only other concern is that IF I choose to go farming with Jolly Roger, that I’ll miss out on the extra 5 levels of JR in the meantime. So just wondering if there is a noticeable difference, and if some items will not drop at all w/ 10.

And when you say that DOV / Cyclone is strong, is it still noticeably strong at level 5?

Something else I’m thinking about. Since Jolly Roger pillaging is random per hit, couldn’t going Doppel C1 and getting DOV 5 make up for not getting level 15 yet? Meaning that I’d be able to auto attack much quicker, procing it more in the meantime?

Hexen is a big multihit without a lot of base damage, so its damage mostly comes from your gear rather than the skill’s damage. Deeds of Valor will buff it a lot more than some extra points into the skill, and Cyclone is another pretty strong multihit skill even at level 5.

Jolly Roger 15 matters more or less depending on what you’re trying to farm. For example, Jolly Roger of any level will hardly help if you’re farming something like Battle Bracelets because you’ll just kill the mob in a few hits anyway and probably not trigger looting.

I’d love to see some data on farming for one hour and the drop rate for going Corsair 2 w/ JR 10 + DOV (should get more drops from hitting faster) vs. Corsair 3 w/ JR 15.

True, but you would likely get to the pillage quicker as you’d get more chances within a set amount of time.

OK last question I think. Since you’ve obviously played Corsair Doppel. How much more damage were you getting once you were able to get Doppel 1? I’m leaning toward Dopel C1 next now, as maybe if I don’t I’ll be hampering my ability to even get to rank 8.

this is pretty much the optimized corsair

combos are
spear lunge + hexen/ stabbing
cyclone
dwa for filter while skills are on cd

DWA is not strong but a good filler and not worth it to max

I highly suggest peltasta on non pure doppelsoeldner or catagoons especially on pve builds. Non peltasta in pve is okay but dont you want something more efficient in farming?

Just pray to IMCJesus that rank 9 will benefit 1h+ dagger types like corsair though.

Is there any point to having Pistol Shot 5 in that build? From my understanding it is absolute garbage, and I can’t imagine it would ever be used, especially with other skills in the build. Wouldn’t those points be better elsewhere? Thanks.
