As a casual player, i have 4*330 char and spent some money on the game.
I still would really appreciate a complete wipe. You know, fresh start
Even without being refunded

Ah, I still think even though I could collect a lot of my stuff again, there would only be a few players left to play with, not many people want to wake up one day with all their stuff gone!
TBH if they create new clean servers, i would play on these one, even if they arent located on my region.
I would accept a complete wipe.
However they should first delete bots and afk farming ppl.
It was a binary option proposal. Rollback or patch.
If all goes to crap, malware, etc, you can´t let the business die by losing costumers/players, faster action could be using a db backup, or a server image, instead of bug patching ‘by hand’.
Devs are doing what they can with what they are allowed to do, and if they are patching patches eventually it will become a dependency nightmare. Spoopy.
We’re already losing anyway. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Still llagging and lag spike wth
Gotta say I like IMC. They make Pokemon Go more enjoyable because everytime I think Niantic is doing a horrible job I check the tos forum to find out there is at least someone else doing a far worse job.
I’m sorry but no.
In this case (huge lag and crash) you can’t do a rollback.
The only reason to do it when the server explodes and you can’t do nothing.
But with lag issue or crash, when you can fix it, rollback isn’t an option.
I’m just mad that they were slow about fix.
But if was really a DDOS attack, then I can’t complain.
The whole point of a rollback is to get the servers back to a functional state as efficiently as possible. Also, the timing for something like this is super important. Essentially, after you patch a program you monitor it to make sure it works. If there is a huge or catastrophic problem or bug that can’t be simply addressed or you don’t know the cause you shut down immediately(I’m talking 30min to 12 maxhour window to do this.) You then can fix the bug or rollback to minimize issues like players wasting time and limit damage.
The bigger problem is that when the servers come up after patch, it’s already 9pm or later in Korea. Meaning that problems can fester for more than 12 hours before someone even notices.
This is like putting a pot on a low simmer and leaving the house for work. Sure, it could be find most of time, but if a fire came up you would be screwed. Fortunately servers can revert that damage, but if they don’t it’s like putting out fire that’s already full blaze.
Edit: most rollbacks aren’t even noticible since they occur when the server should be down for maitenence and no player would be affected. Most of this fallout is from patching and clocking out.
