Bug Description : Client has been shutdown due to an error. After the hotfix patch, I started the game and was getting this error every time I load Excrulon’s Add-ons. So I deleted the addon folder in ToS, and removed the .lua files associated with the addon (betterquest and expcardviewer). I started the game and it worked. I played for about 3 or 4 hours. I logged out to eat, and when I tried logging back in - I get this persistent error.

No addon files to delete this time. I verified the identity of the game cache, it downloaded 2 files. Tried verifying again to be sure - it said all files are validated, but still getting this. I don’t know what to do now. I can’t play the game. Please help. Please.

I searched the forums and I know that some people are getting the same error but I couldn’t find any real solutions to this. So, instead of bumping them, I wanna create a new topic to highlight this f*cking error. If there’s someone who knows the fix, please let me know. Thanks.

I don’t want to re-download the game since some people did that and still getting the same error so I think it’s futile.

Steps to reproduce the issue :
No special steps. It comes up during the loading screen.

I get the same error but I can login but I get the error like 1 minute after loading into Klaipada town…

Mine is this everytime I try to log in to server since the Hotfix. The game was running fine on Steam until now. People elsewhere have been telling me to disable addons, but I don’t know what they’re talking about since all I’ve done up till this Hotfix was download game client from Steam, play, and that’s pretty much it. Didn’t download anything else.

Oh, and verifying game cache files doesn’t work either.

I am getting the same error, I have sent a support ticket already and they told me to try and reinstall patch. I reinstalled the game, with all the patches still getting the same error.

I tried reinstalling the game, deleting addon manager completely and all addons I have installed before but im still getting the same problem. Can someone help?

Everytime I verify game cache after game is shutdown due to error, it validates 32 files and when I open patcher it downloads all the patches again.

tried reinstalling the game, the GPU driver, not working…

I had the exact same problem: No more add ons and Im getting the crash after loading screen just before i see anything. After verifying integrity x3 and doing all sorts of things. I just gave up- deleted the whole tos folder and re downloades the whole damn game. After patching… logged in and it worked! In game now. But then again- I got the crash error from just standing in a map and during that time, I didnt have any add ons already. So i am SUPER paranoid that I will get the dame error again and be forced to download and install the whole thing again just for a few hours of game time :confused:

I can log in my char now but I get crash from walking randomly… I don’t even know what’s triggering this anymore; again 0 add ons & a fresh full tos download and installed. Never experienced a crash ever before this damn patch.

Fresh install, no addons.
Getting the error at the end of the loading screen after character select.

Already filed a ticket … same problem after character select it went to the loading screen then when I thought I finally got inside the game that error message pops out …

I hope every one having this error would be able to read this because this is how it worked for me.

Steps that I did in order to resolve the issue:

  1. Restored my PC to the day before the patch happened
  2. Deleted the add-ons folder and the broken .ipf files (I only downloaded Excrulon’s Add-ons and there was no add-on manager the time I downloaded it, so I never downloaded the add-on manager.
  3. Deleted the addons.ipf and SumAni.ipf files inside the data folder of ToS
  4. Ran CCleaner. This will remove the leftover .ipf registry file.
  5. Ran Steam and ToS. It will download the addons and sumani files again. I don’t know why it keeps downloading those but it worked.

Also, after playing for several hours, the error came up again out of nowhere while I was just running through the maps. I just did step 3 onwards. And it worked again.

EDIT: The important part here is to run CCleaner or any other registry cleaning program, because even a clean install of the game doesn’t work probably because there are still residues of those addon files in your computer.

I’m mentioning you guys to make sure you don’t miss this, and hopefully it works for you too. If not, then I guess you’ll just have to wait for an update from the dev team.

I never used addons but I’m getting this problem…Gonna delete the game for fresh install and I want to avoid running CCleaner.
