@hallowedthings within WoW we have 2 builds and we can exchange between them. I mean, I really got confused when I chose my classes, and now I just hate that I choose a specific one that has nothing to do with my play style.
I agree with a class reset and I say that not as a player only, but as a ux designer: Player shouldn’t choose a class b/c he have read every single thing about the class before playing the game, but b/c he thinks it’s is interesting and likes to play with that (knowing how it is). The game should adapt to the player so the player can adapt to the game. Take for example MOBAs, you usually play a hero in a normal/bot game to get used to it. Then, while playing, you use the skills, read what they do, and have a better understanding about the hero. If you go straight to the fight with other players, you’ll be a mess.
At some point a class reset will be necessary. Yesterday I saw a Wizard 1 > Pyromancer 1 > Cryomancer 1 > Linker 1 > ? He clearly had no idea what he was doing, and later he will have to create a new toon. Now imagine when it’s F2P! A lot of people will join the game, b/c we are saying it is fun, it’s different, it’s beautiful… and then they start playing, get first class, get second and then… What am I doing? So he goes after some information and realises that he has to create a new toon to play with, b/c the one he was playing (at 40~80, when he will be able to start using megaphones and ask the high level players what they should do) is a real and stupid mess.
So, if it’s not now, later we will need a class reset. A Gamer stops playing a gaming if he can’t try everything that is in the range.
OR there could have a “training camp” for you to understand other classes before choosing them. REMEMBER: Not everyone played CBT, b/c it was CBT. But now it has been released, new players shouldn’t be punished for wrong choices.
