Clarification on Archer Auto Attack/Skill Combo

I’m new, so my knowledge is based on what I have searched and read on forums. I hope Veteran players will be able to enlighten me.

All of Archer’s Offensive Skills are considered Missile Property.

Q 1: Is an Archer’s Auto Attack considered a Missile Attack as well?

If yes, does that means the Ranger skill “Steady Aim” increase my Auto Attack damage by +20%?

Q 2: Does Steady Aim require me to be stationary? Or can I cast then move and shoot while retaining the buff?

Using Kneeling Shot + Running Shot will greatly increase your Attack Speed.
+375 attack speed + 30% attack speed modifier .
Attack Speed is affected by ping. (From what I have searched on forums, the general consensus seems to be that you need under 100 ms to have “decent” Attack Speed)
Chrono wiz can also increase ASPD by +450

Q 3: Without Chrono assistance and assuming we have around a ping of 80. What is the max auto attacks per second this Archer can achieve?

Q 4: At what ping range will you start seeing a noticeable drop in attack speed? (i.e at 20ms? at 50ms? at 70ms? 100ms? 130ms?)

Q 5. Are there any other skills/consumables/items/Titles/weapons/Pets/Guild buff/party buff/etc that increase your Attack Speed?

Upgrading your Bows as an Archer seems like a must due to the % damage penalties. Consensus seems to be +10 weapon will do full damage with no penalty.

Q 6. True or False. Upgrading weapons as an Archer has #1 priority over ANY attribute upgrade.

Q 7. Is there any way to increase your success rate at refining/enhancing weapons?

Q 8. What is the Pros and Cons of these 3 weapon sets. (i.e damage, cost, attack speed reduction, etc)
Set 1: CrossBow + Dagger
Set 2: CrossBow + Pistol
Set 3: Musket

In the Musketeer Character Overview page, it says that “muskets have high attack speed”

Q 9. What is the actual value of attack speed increase?

Q 10. What weapons (bows, xbow, pistols, muskets) that I should look out for? and why? (good stats? looks nice? good damage? easy to find? etc)

Thank you for your time, knowledge, and patience!

Attack speed test …

There is no longer the penalty set by refining the bow

PS: the ping in this video is between 60 ~ 90ms

What does it mean by animation cancel?

@chronoforever

Thank you for posting that video, it was really informative.

How did they get Running Shot L7? is it because they used Grand Cross?

How do you animation cancel?

Yes… used grand cross or the new xbow lvl220
When you move while attacking, the animation of the attack is less, leading to increased attack speed.
But I do not know exactly how this while using Kneeling Shoot

Bump, need answers for above questions

After additional and extensive research and watching a bunch of videos of archers.

A.1 Yes an Archer’s AA is considered a Missile Attack. So yes, the Ranger’s "Steady Aim’ increases auto attack by +20%. Read reports saying that it is a FLAT damage increase instead of % increase. If this is true, than this skill is worthless. Others have said, it gives +20% of your attack plus +100 FLAT damage from attributes. Sigh…I have no idea who to believe and most vids don’t help

A.2 No, Steady Aim does not require you to be stationary. You can cast the buff. Move and shoot while retaining the buff.

A.3 Max auto attack for this archer is 2.33 attacks per second (2.78 with a Chronomancer)

A.4 Around 100ms is where you cap at 2.00 ASPD, assuming everything is constant. Generally this means a person with under 100ms is getting an extra shot off every 3 secs more than someone above 100ms. Results will vary.

A.5 None, the best way to increase your attack speed is through Animation Canceling. To perform this, you Attack-Move-Attack. It is very similar to orb-walking/kiting in DOTA/League of legends. Basically, the moment you see the arrow leaving your bow, MOVE, then click attack again.

A.6 True

A.7 Nothing to increase success rate at refining. Failure will reduce weapon potential by 1. At zero potential + fail = break weapon. Success for any weapon is set at.
L1-L5 = 100%
L6-L7 = 88%
L7-L8 = 78%
L8-L9 = 68%
L9-L10= 59%
L10+ = 51%

A.8

Set 1: CrossBow + Dagger
Set 2: CrossBow + Pistol
Set 3: Musket

In terms of Total Upgrading Cost. Set 1 > Set 2 > Set 3.
In terms of Highest Attack Damage. Set 2 > Set 1 > Set 3.

Comparing Set Advantages
Set 1 has more +Crit Rate options and Specific Monster % modifiers
Set 2 has more +Crit Attack then Set 1. Bonus Elemental damage
Set 3 has the most +Crit Attack and has +Block Pen.
Set 3 has 1 extra Socket than Set 1 and 2.
All Sets shoot one missile/bullet.
Set 3 has “faster attack animation” meaning that the bullet has zero travel time while Crossbows’s arrows have to travel before registering damage.

A.9 Actual value of attack speed increase by using musket = unknown. Since musket’s bullets do not have travel time I’m gonna guess that it gives around a 0.20 - 0.30 increase in ASPD, which puts the max cap of ASPD at 3.00 Attacks Per Second.

Having watched through the attack speed test video, i can say that is the first time ive seen a 200+ AA archer on near level mobs. Most the other videos are AA archers killing the lvl 133 dungeon mobs.

Can anyone else help find a video of a 200+ say ranger/fletcher, musketeer, or other archer farming normal mobs? I want to see if having low burst potential actually hurts farming speed.

Also, is there a reason for the inconsistent attack speed in the speed test part? He seems to attack rapidly for 2 to 3 shots, then have a small break, then attack rapdily for 2 to 3 shots again. Is this failure to animation cancel? Is animation cancelling related to ping or just failure to execute?

Bump. Not seen too many higher level archer videos. It basically looks to me that high level content favors skills though since you can literally double the damage on skills through attributes whereas auto attacks are things you use in the down time.

It looks to me that he is dealing 8-11k damage about 2 to 3 times a second. I would say that the highest I see AA builds do is around 4-5k damage about 2.5 to 3 times a second.

So if I roughly estimate the archer in that video doing 8k + 8k + 4k (2.5 atks at an average of 8k damage), then he deals roughly 20k a second without his better cool downs (which dealt around 11-12k it looked to me).

An AA archer in that time at 3 atks a second would deal around 4k + 4k + 4k if he dealt 4k each attack at 3 attacks per second. This is again, without his secondary major cooldowns and while running shot is up and assuming 3 attacks per second instead of around 2.5 that the video above estimated.

So an AA archer would deal 12k/sec during an optimal scenario while a Ranger/Fletcher deals around 20k/ sec under standard scenarios. Both would deal more when they major cool downs are up.

I would say I’m giving the AA archer a lot of damage here with 4k crits…that would mean around 800-900 damage base + 200ish DEX. Kneeling Shot should add around 250 damage and running shot would give 200% extra damage. Add a Mana Mana for an extra 278 to that and I would think base damage would be around 1800-2000ish and the crit takes care of the rest.

IDK man, this calculation is just making me sad. It really seems like AA archers need a ton of equips to be inferior to skills spam.

I’d do what that person did, take A2 for swift shot crit bonus( dex build is superior) and multishot here and there. You can’t really compare a late game class which you can’t even pick up until rank 5 to a starting one…
