Is IMC doing this on purpose? Some maps only have 1 channel while others can have 15 or more?
Channels are dynamically created based on the number of people on a given map. The maps with only 1 channel do not have enough players atm for another channel to be created. If more people enter that map, another channel may be automatically created. Likewise, if people leave a map then the number of channels may decrease.
by that reasoning, some of the lv60 zones should have more than 1, since they are often red, but they dont.
Ya, I know what you mean. After seeing a map with 4 red circles and only 1 channel, I am starting to question how well the dynamic channel system actually works… or if it is not just the GMs manually adding and removing channels as needed.
The dynamic channel system right now is not working good, at all. Areas like construction chapel that have a lot of people AND would be good with multiple channels always have only 1.
The minimum channel count should be set to 2 to avoid excess competition (for example maps with small spawn but a quest to kill X amount like Septyni Glen, as well as maps iwth good spawn but spawns in specific areas that will get camped (Construction Chapel 1/2F).
Unfortunately the channel limits currently stop the best form of grinding which is to run between rooms and let the spawns come back up, since most spawns are set on a 30s+ timer of only a few mobs, but doing this in areas that are truly good (thus heavily contested) will lead to poor results.
At least in Open Beta channels should definitely look to a minimum of 2 from the start. Good farming areas that don’t share well should probably look to 5.
The only reason I could see for having the numbers so low at the moment wuold be if they’re trying to create friction doing this, which might be the case considering some classes inherently have skills to stop other classes farming like sapper’s detonate traps, hitting a pyro’s fireball, or the ability to injure yourself and steal a clerics heals he might be using for damage.
Vieta Gorge and Cobalt Forest have only 1 available channel which is currently red.

best solution would be to increase the minimum channels regardless of people in the map. Maybe 2 or 3. Then fix the dynamic channel system because it’s wack
The channel management isn’t working at all. today, we have 10 empty channels (just the ch1 with 2 marks) on tenet chapel, and all areas above lvl 50 with just 1 crowded channel. The quests that demands to press space on some spawning objects are awful, as there is 2 or 3 people on every spawn spot trying to do the quest.
And meanwhile, there are channels of tenet chapel with less than 10 players.
