Is mounting your companion optional or necessary when using cataphract abilities?

I am going out on a limb here, but I think it would be necessary…seems logical right…right?

No I dont think so, because you dont know if the previous class skills can be used ON a mount.

well of course the “trot” requires a mount however what about the other skills such as earth wave and doom spike

Id think so, but reading the skill descriptions it doesnt say so. While some of the skills say that they can be used with Spear and shield or one handed spear. And theyre known to be used with 2 handed spears.

hummm, that’s interesting… what about schwarze reiters? can they use their abilities without mount?
but it wouldn’t make sense to not use one lol…

I think they can. If im not mistaken I believe I saw a video of it with no mount

If I remember correctly there was a video where a guy casted doom spike after getting off his companion.

So I think no, there isn’t a need to mount before using the skills.

Open Cataphract and use google translate…all skills require you to be mounted, and this page is updated with skills from CBT3

If you’ve got a more recent source that says otherwise, please link it.

Well then that makes no sense at all, assuming all except steed charge and rush actually uses the companion.

Would u then require to dismount before using skills for other classes?

Is there actually any reason to use 2H spears other than being forced into a cataphract and on a mount?

Kinda sucks to have cataphract as a part of a build if the above were true.

I used to be knight at RO , so i enjoy mounts, but i just
CAN’T love the model of this one we has, it is so damn ugly… i lov the Cataphract job, but i can’t accept this ridiculous ‘mini-grass-monster’ for a knight mount…

Bummer im stuck at lvl 66 my computer crash down and I have to re install everything D: sigh it delayed all my projects T-T

If you get a chance to log back on your Cataphract, can you test the following for us please?

  • Use another non-spear weapon combo eg. 1H sword + shield while mounted and see if you can use Cataphract skills or other class skills (eg. Swordsman, Hoplite, etc.)
  • Test each Cataphract skill off the mount and see which one works.
  • Test the skill Impaler with a 1H spear + shield combo and see if it works

Sorry to revive this topic, but I would also like to know if its possible to use Cataphract skills without the mount. I used to be a Knight in RO aswell and sometimes I liked to walk by foot.
