I very rarely get hit, block goes up to 1500 with C and I don’t have a lot of evasion xD. Duration isn’t a big deal, if he focuses on me, it’s a win for my team, he should be chasing archers/wiz.
Rush won’t take down a 30k+ HP swordie with shield, but 2 or 3 others from the team attacking a rushing cata will take him down.
@fatedhour Impale has a long cooldown, too.
Having C is very situational, but an advantage with our limited options.

i am a swordsman c3 cata c3 dragoon use catacombs pike+12 with triple green gems and 120 con
never had any problem with pvp against anyone.
still top 20 in pvp every week.
You can also weapon swap in battles if you didn’t know that.
Man, idk, there are no swordies in the top 20… or 30 right now. The top swordie is at #40 with 1075 points, are you SeraphicLaw? Yukimura? Faker? Either way, you still have time to catch up.
I was good on thursday at 1082 but got greedy and now it’s 1050.
It’s not theory crafting, I’m not taking decisions based on unreleased content or things I haven’t tested. I’m just testing the 1h cata route and expected some other catafolk to maybe try it, or who has already tried it and might have a few pointers for me.
i personally just weapon swap between my cata pike and brandish+aias whenever i please
generally i switch to brandish and aias against heavy physical damage like muskets and canons.
I use the cata pike vs wizards and clerics. (soon to be cripple)

Yeah that’s pretty cool. I switch to cata pike (mine’s just +6 and brandish +7) whenever I have ausrine or the opponents have no way to defend against it quickly. Also when I’m left 1v1 with a defensive cleric.
1h + swash saves my butt when I hit those R7x Kabs or locks. But my point is you kidna need to have both options, like you do.
sometimes, when im against high evasion archers i have a high accuracy set of accuracy 1h spear (which is chaser) and +13 superior bandit gloves double green gemmed thats what i do whenever im against high evasion builds
i suggest every swordy out there to have an accuracy set
i also keep max accuracy head gear, so in between rounds i quickly swap it.

i’m, at top15 of my server and today i got 3 extra win above the number of loses, so once the rank update, i should go up to top10 again.
but i just wanted to say it, since i’m happy, haha.
now about the topic:
the viability is always there, just like when we see the game as hole, each aspect of the game allow multiples paths, and tos this is true as well even if many do not want to see, some paths may be hard than others without doubt but they are there, even if the player need to put fair more time and manpower than everyone else and this is why we see many talks about META and viability of builds but by the end of it, the people is just tired and always try to take the easy path to success(so follow after the ones who came before, simply put follow the META) this is why before no one liked swordsman, and so on.
i know i have not talked about the one hand spear directly but i hope that you can understand where i’m going with my post, that is we can do a lot more in the game than most people like to say that we can be with when choosing some builds, or using for example onehand spear+ shield in the place of 2handspear.
the true is, both way is possible and each side will have their difficulty in doing so, by the end of it you just need to try.
on a side note, since we last talk about brandish, i have been using my megas spear more in pvp and is doing fine as well, i won’t say that is working better than my 2hand, but i can say that when i face someone who i can not win against with her, because of block, i just swap back to 2hand to bypass the block and keep going, in the end we need to focus in BOTH weapons to be good, just like the dude before me have said when he fight against a high dex archer, we just need to adapt our-self and try to not limit the game play by choosing always one style, this will make the game far harder for us, but it already have been like this from start , so we just need to keep going.
personal rant: i find it so bad that the passives from cata/dragoon only effects 2hand spears, this is some of the things that need to change for swordsman, every little thing we have that is good, have a downside as well, we can never have something nice without paying something for it.

Does the passive work in Tbl or outside of Tbl? Yesterday I equip and unequip my 2hded spear , the number of block pentration still stay the same
the number does not goes up, do not show on f1 window, but tests made by me and many others, seems to show that is working, just search some of videos that players have made , the cataphract topic.
