Does catagoon catch up to Hop3 with the new update?
As someone who resetted from Cata3 to Hop3, I feel like Cata3 has rmore in store for general gameplay.
Only great thing about Hop3 by R8 content is Spear Throw (which requires you to have a well-upgraded Geras and/or transcended too if you’re crazy like me) and Spear Lunge against bosses.
Cata’s latest buff has made it pretty decent in PVE. Only go Hop3 if you like to WB (not that you can’t WB with a cata3 too).
I’m yet to try ET with my Hop3.
playing both, and even after the buff even though cataphract buff was a very significant buff, hoplite 3 still stronger in single target AND aoe dps.

I was going to say I have a catagoon and a now resetted sw3-hop3-dragoon
Hop3 is a little more powerfull in AOE and a LOT more powerfull in Boss situation.
again this is with about 10m tops in attributes on both since those are not my mains.
I feel efficient enough with hop3 to do solo some of r8 content (currently at 314 nearing 315, so far everything but inner wall dist 8 was soloed, and I did not dare to get into THE CAVE yet)

In order for this class to really work, you’d need to craft sacmet/regad horn pike and transcend it to stage 4+ for the damage to actually be good and don’t forget attributes as well
I am well aware of that. and you are right. not investing in the character will not bring it to the good level of damage.
But my main is not sword. those were just experiments to see if I like the game play and to learn about the class.
BTW how is Sacmet compared in damage to catacombs pike on plate or cloth bosses?
Also on Orsha we got a guy who is using a one handed 315 weapon and a shield for everything (even bossing) <- is that a viable option for people?
I think he is doing this:
well sacmet when enhanced and transcended will be a lot stronger than cata pike, but still not nearly as strong as regard horn pike/solmiki pike.
is it just me, or it feels like 2h spears are still weaker then 2h swords?
at least on paper they look like an inferior weapon compared to Sarkmis
well it makes sense since 2h sword is the strongest weapon in the game
the problem is the significant difference between the 2h spears and 2h swords.
How much stronger is hoplite compared to cata?
with not a lot money invested not that big. But I would imagine more money you pump into attributes greater the difference grows, but I might be mistaken, would really be interested to hear what @DieHardLancer has to say about that.
pve wise - a lot
spear lunge makes dragoon skills VERY strong
i could shoot a video of both killing the same boss to compare.
I would really appreciate you do that.
Also what would you recommend attribute wise to prioritize?
(I am speaking of the +1% per attribute things)

Are the base damages of later circles so insane that the % scaling on cata skills can’t keep up?
i actually find the % scaling cata very good, a very nice boost to our damage.

I soloed inner wall 8 and all 5 floors of tevhrin cave with a +7 cata pike non-transcended and a sw3 cata3 goon2 build but it took a lot of time. I also blew quite a bit on pots, buffs and barrier scrolls (this is the key)

okay this is the 2 videos of both my pelt 1 hoplite 3 doppel 1 dragoon 2, and my sword 3 cata 3 dragoon 1 lancer killing the same bosses
as you can see, even though the cataphract buffs made is very viable damage wise, the hoplite dragoon still out dps it
it might also be because my cataphract is pvp built and hoplitegoon is pve built

Nice vids mate. Spear Lunge really makes a huge difference.
