Cash Shop - What do you want to see?

Any Free to Play MMORPG needs a solid cash shop to stay alive.
What sort of items, costumes or convenience items would you like to see?
And maybe more importantly, what should they stay away from?

Personally, this is what i expect to see:

  • Costumes (obviously)
  • Exp Multipliers
  • Additional character costumization, like premium hairstyles / color / headgear
  • Bank expansion
  • Restat / Reskill
  • Cosmetic Pets (no stats)

And things i’d prefer they stay away from selling:

  • Insurance items (prevent Potential / Item loss on upgrades), if anything, make them a rare drop.
  • Costumes / Weapons with stats
  • More powerfull pets than whats available ingame

Now some might debate that EXP / Drop multipliers are P2W, each are entitled to their own opinion, mine being that they are purely convenience and theres no need to discuss this further in this thread, as its been discussed to death already.

I’m looking forward to a nice range of cosmetic stuff like headgears, hairstyles etc. Exp multipliers are fine as well.

As we are discussing cash shop items now, I would like to add one more question.

Should the cash shop items be sellable for the in-game currency (silver)?

I’m actually curious about community’s opinions.

Im gonna have to go with yes, i think that if they werent then IMC would lose out on potential income, since there is a market for Cosmetic items, but not everyone want or can purchase them from the cash shop and would rather spend the time to earn enough Silver to buy it, on the other hand theres people who dont have the time to farm silver to buy costumes ingame and would rather buy it from the cash shop.

Whatever IMC choose to do, there will be some people who arent happy about it, but i think overall, the ability to sell cash shop items is the better choice

Yes to all. I can also add a couple of things:

  • Warp stone
  • Repair stone
  • Housing/Lodge items
  • Skinned gadget like special bonfire (no bonus stat), card battle table, shop etc
  • Butler/Maid shop, where your butler/maid run the buy/sell shop and you can still go on that character and grind.

Although there should not be an enchant safeguard, I think a wrap box for market would be nice as well, where you can sell item without losing potential, or can sell 0 potential item

[/quote]Yes, they should be tradable via market, I don’t see any harm in it, after all, the money is still going into IMC pocket

  • Costumes, headgears and arm bands without stats.
  • Stats/skills reset scolls
  • Hairstyle/color changer
  • Lodge items
  • More bank space
  • Resurrection scrolls (resurrect where you died)

I will not play if they add XP/Gold/crafting “potions”.

crafting potions? can you elaborate?

I’m personally against Warp Stone / Teleport Stone. It kills the need to actually travel around and decrease the need to explore, which is more or less an insult to the developers / designers who had worked for days and nights just to create the backgrounds and such. It also decreases the opportunity of one player to meet another potential player who could happen to be a friend of him or her. Then again I guess it is only a matter on how do the developers scale the quest / monsters experience to increase the chance a player would visit and linger around a place since most of the MMORPG players nowadays will seek for the fastest route to highest level and will not bother to do any exploration.

Aside from that, as for cash shop items being sold by using “in-game currency”, although I hate this game very much for how it had changed, Maplestory’s mileage system seems to be a good example, in which you get certain points by completing certain challenges and you can use the points to purchase certain cash item from a special shop which uses this very special reward. If the developer has a heart, they can actually encourage the players to do all the possible contents in the game by issuing every possible challenge you can find in the game, which in return, reward you with these special points, and this would not lead to a case where a certain town / region is largely ignored and not utilized by the players.

Other than these, as long as the cash shop sells anything that is cosmetic and / or increase the convenience of players to a certain but limited degree (I still don’t fancy the idea of MMORPG being made too easy / convenience), I’ll not hesitate to pull out my wallet to support it.

Pretty much what @Skrunken and @thailehuy said

@Skrunken Any items that would help crafting by increasing upgrade success chance, preventing item potential loss, etc.

I agree with huxley
if they put any p2w options like exp potions/status/gold multpliers/drop and let ppl trade cash items for gold this game isn’t going too far like any other mmorpg.

i want only skins and reset stats/skill

but i can understand if they do money with boost xp…

i cant accept other ■■■■

It’s not a matter if you can only teleport to maps you already explored. It’s not a warp inside map, but rather a quick way to teleport to map without a goddess statue.

We already have a scroll (5k silver in shop) to do something similar

Well, if there is already a scroll to do it, why add another one? As mentioned, I personally dislike it to be too convenience, and it’ll be a personal statement.

The scroll allow you to go to a goddess statue and back once. Warp stone allow you to move to a map without a goddess statue. It’s similar but not the same. And it’s just a way to save a bit of time to run through 1 or 2 maps since we have a good amount of goddess statues already.

Just minor convenience.

Well, just so in case for you to see where I came from, I never used Fast Travel in Skyrim…

Im 100% behind this list we have the same idea on what is pay to win and what is not.

I’ll place here my list and thoughts.

First of all I would like to say that the game currency should be allowed for user trading with game items, completely negating the effect of RMT spammers.

The amount of trades between users involving cash shop currency should be daily limited, increasing the limit from very low to a reasonable amount (from 1 to around 10 to 15) after reaching certain milestones with the characters in your account. It should only be allowed for certain items like rare materials, rare companions, and top tier equipment recipes.

What I would like to see in the cash shop:

[The basic idea on what I want to see is that only time saving mechanics should be allowed]

  • Exp Boosters
  • Drop Boosters (Extra amount and loot chance)
  • Silver Boosters (Extra amount and loot chance)
  • Premium status that ONLY grants 50% increased XP, Silver and Loot Chance (3-day, 7-day, 30-day packages)
  • Companion skins (Same stat values as the ones in game, different design)
  • Costumes (Alternate looks and colors for already unlocked jobs)
  • Cosmetic accesories (no stats)
  • Weapon costumes (no stats)
  • Finished products from weapon and armor recipes (the basic recipe for the same item should also be available from beating monsters in the game or bought with silver from NPCs, top tier recipes for the best items should never be allowed, only step ins)
  • Rare Materials (should also be available from beating monsters in the game)
  • Monster Gems (should also be available from beating monsters in the game)
  • Already roasted stat gems with some levels already gained (unranked gems should be available from game sources)
  • Trading cash shop money for silver (reasonable and fixed amounts, not too much, only if trading cash currency between users iis allowed, should be a cash currency sink)
  • Bank expansions (only for weapon and armor slots, please be reasonable, don’t make it so we have to pay too much to be at ease with our bank slots and allow everyone unlimited resource and recipe slots, limit only what is really important, weapon and armor slots)

Things that I would hate in the cash shop and should never be allowed:

[The idea is anything that could not be obtained investing time in the game or job locked]

  • Character inventory expansions (unless you can get the maximum amount too from in game mechanics)
  • Exclusive and improved items (Potions, Armors, Weapons, Companions)
  • Alchemist products, Pardoner scrolls, Squire improvements (Anything that already has a job dedicated to it)
  • Skill and Stat resets (They break the game in many ways, and might be a detrimental feature for a lot of people, they should only be granted after major updates and gameplay changes for people to adapt to the renewed mechanics)
  • Insurance items
  • Potential resets (if this is ever allowed and the item can be acquired in game without limit like materials, recipes or monster gems, then it would be fine)
  • Closed content available only for premium users

And I think this pretty much covers all my concerns.

Some words about Pay to Win, from my personal point of view.

Pay to Win only takes place when the goods you acquire are completely locked out for free users. This point of view completely excludes time saving options, since a free user would still be able to get everything a paying user does, just he would require more time invested actually playing the game. Plus, if users trading with cash shop currency is allowed, limited to some extent, many “Pay to Win” mechanics would be much less detrimental to a free user experience.

these ones sound like a slippery slope.

Yeah, thinking on it I’d have the gems changed for gem experience.

Some kind of VIP :))
