Cannoneer getting a rework?

Musketeer with grooving and serenity looks awesome. In comparison, cannoneer is in a weird place. Cannon shot with the chain explosion attribute has become a mini cannon barrage with a 5CD. That’s nice but it makes cannon barrage useless as a result. I can’t test and haven’t seen any r9 vids but i’m pretty sure that bazooka stance still has a 3sec animation to set up and get up. You can’t (edit: derp, you can) even jump out of stance which makes this skill very unattractive to use. The class is an SP guzzler which removes any incentive to use skill attributes or max out skills. Smoke grenade does increase dmg but the radius is small, mobs/players/boss will move out of it, and even though it is supposed to “blind” enemies, they still hit you (bugged?). I like the idea of the class, just not the actual performance.

Yeah, between and barrage there isn’t really a differentiating identity between them once you pick up the attribute (minus the stun chance). Smoke grenade unfortnately doesn’t work on bosses either. I’m happy with what circle 3 is going to provide, but I agree with you.

Having shootdown exist was always strange to me since it only has synergy with cannon shot. Bazooka is just… it needs a rework.

Something like a skill where you’d load a special ammunition that gives a bonus to your next attack would be interesting.

It was always that way. They just changed it so you could jump to leave the stance as opposed to pressing the skill again.

I meant when did they make it so “you can’t even jump out of stance”? I ask because I know you CAN jump out of [bazooka] just like you can with [kneeling shot].

You can use the jump “button” to get out of stance but you still have the 3sec animation. Not exactly like kneeling shot where you can actually jump. Sorry for the confusion

Uh, no. I did use jump to get out of the stance just like [kneeling shot]. That’s why since you are insisting on it, I asked “when did this happen”.

There are 2 ways I tried it. Simply pressing jump 1x will cause the animation (which I confirm). Spamming jump will allow you to cancel the animation (which I’m pretty sure even IMC said you can do, just not in these exact words).

Yeah it’s the animation cancel at work usable often on skills with 0.0s interrupt time, cataphract’s impale can be spammed this way too.

I bet they will balance Archers again, it’s not only a Cannoneer problem but many other classes on Archer tree (look at the poor Scout).
atm Cannoneer (rank 7) is nowhere near Elementalist (class 4) in PvE.

Just the time you use bazooka stance and shot once the wizard used Frost cloud, Freezing Sphere and maybe Hail
and a 315 orange staff is far easier to craft than 315 orange Cannon :sad:

Cannoneer is fine, honestly it is the best of all the Archer Classes because it has ok damage, a huge damage boost with Bazooka&Smoke Grenade, AoE attack ratio bonus on the skills (which is also doubled during Bazooka), the ability to autoattack for high damage during Bazooka, low CD time on 3 damage skills (Shootdown, Cannon Shot, Siege Burst), really useful attributes for C3 (more damage for the low CD skills, less CD time for Cannon Barrage) and a really strong nuke skill with high base damage and AoE ratio.

and if you combo canonner c3 with hunter c3 using grow mobs cant atack you, and you deal a free huge aoe atack damage on the mobs stoped by grow, canonner c3 its a very strong class at rank 9, sorry for my bad inglish i am a brasilian player in SA - Silute

That seems to be the solution if you plan on using bazooka.

For me, Cannoneer is just on the right spot that suits this class the most. It lacks of mobility, and the skill motion is long, while it is one of the classes that has skills with broadest range and highest AoE Attack Ratio. I understand Bazooka has several drawbacks, but the merits Bazooka gives can totally compensate for them. The immobility caused by Bazooka makes Cannoneer a class that relies on party play, which further emphasizes the concept of a clumsy artilleryman.
In my opinion, Cannoneer is one of the most well-designed classes in the whole game, since it has distinctive pros and cons, which a player has to use his/her brain to take the best advantage of, not just a boring dealing class with boring dealing skills. If you use it wisely, Cannoneer is actually pretty strong.

I’ve been playing with c3 cannon and its not as bad as i thought it would be. If i had trans wep i would probably luv it. I still feel that cannon barrage is useless, 1 point skill
