Will you guys allow people attempting to cheat/exploit the game to do so freely during the Beta since this what its for? I know some companies have different policies some which will allow it openly during testing and others that will straight up ban.
I think its important that people know if it is or not, since I doubt you’ve tested the system fully to handle all the ways that you can use to exploit the game I feel like it should be allowed until the game release.
I think you can, but don’t make a public video, stream or else about that hack, bug, cheat,…
Then you should report them through email, message.
All is good to speculate, and there are pros and cons on either style of management.
However, as pointed out in the main page (under “Can I stream Videos from ToS?”) and PoohVz, they will not allow any instances of bugs/exploits being put up in public.
It will be good to wait for official word on this.
Attempting to find exploits/bugs should be ok, as well as using it for the purpose of recording as evidence when reporting one (but when doing that only link it through PM to the staffs)
But repeated use for your own gain is probably a big no.
I haven’t waited an official statement about this ; according to the Terms of Services of the last beta, there is no section about modifying the process memory or any client modification.
I’ve reported multiples security issues to IMC (making obvious I “cheated”) and they seem thankful for that. So I would suggest to feel free hacking the game as much as you can as long as you report the issues
WOuld ask IMC if your alloweed to mess with it, based on an find and report basis.
But not many comapnies like to do it that way.
Many of the freelance helpers… tend to monopolize bug information.
Like the gold mulitplier bug of “Settlers Online” which ruined the ingame currency on the first few servers … it did get solved for the other servers. But the currency was still up and running in those few first servers. Forever.
Things like this is worth much much money, for these gold trader sites.
Sadly to say, the best to rellay on it. Is people boostign with what they did or showing it off, so you find out abotu the bug exploit and backtrack all of its usage.
Sounds weird if someone got 40000mio gold ingame currency on day 10 of beta?
