[Build-Review] Krivis3 Monk 3

[[Build- Review] Krivis3 Monk
or as I love to call it Thunder Fist Monk

This is more of a review of my experience with this build than an actual guide
and my thoughts and experiences on skills, I will try to update this as often as I could and list here all the issues I encounter with this build

As of this writing I am around Lv206, Monk C2 a few points away from Monk C3, I will be updating this topic as I progress through

Krivis Monk is a very uncommon build, It took a long time to make because I want to test it first before writing, and since I am only able to play for a few hours a day after work

This Build is focused on solo PvE, sacrificing defensive buff skills for Damage Buff output and AoE capabilities. With Krivis 3 we get: AoE, Offensive Buff, Debuff, and a limited range Aggro ability

Another variation of this build is Cleric2 Krivis2 Monk3 but since someone has already posted about that build here I would no longer add it in this guide/review

Why Did I went this build - There are 3 common builds for monk for now
Priest3 , Cleric2 Priest3, and Cleric2 Diev2. It is not uncommon to be matched in a dungeon mission with 2 other Priest3 Monks and a Chaplain. so to be different I picked Krivis 3. I played RO monk before and Priest3 playstyle is a perfect mirror of that which I don’t want to repeat

Build Pros and Cons:

Pros

  • Very Solo Friendly, can solo most quests,
  • No Down Time, no need to take a break on bonfires
  • Has very capable AoE abilities
  • Able to solo boss rush most dungeons, due to the versatility of zaibas
  • With Zaibas at our skill rotation stamina can take a break from time to time
  • Zaibas together helps to take down High HP targets quickly. at LV 15 with Lv40 attribute and depending on Weapon Matk and Magic Amplification has an average damage of around 1k damage per hit on neutral targets, it hits 19 times with overheat dealing a total damage of around 38k up to 40k damage

Cons

  • No Defensive Buffs
  • Zaibas is Lighting Elem, and a lot of monster are Earth Elem, which reduces Zaibas effectiviness in half
  • Short Buff Duration you will find yourself spamming buffs more often,
  • Buff requires condition (Divine stigma)
  • Players expect you to resu them, I can feel the hurt of the players waiting to be resurected

unfortunately Heal and Safety Zone is the only ones you can offer

STATS

STR - DEX build 3-2 the rest to CON

-edit
conteplating on adding some SPR on stats so that others can benefit from the Zalciai even with low crit rate, but since I am a solo player, I hold it off until my playstyle changes in the future

Why STR-DEX:
All Monk Skills Scales from Strength. and every Rank gives 10% bonus to STR, it also raises Crit Attack so its logical that we to focus more on STR

The Cleric Class suffers from poor choices of weapon all with weak attack power. at Lv170 Swordsmen and Archer classes have access to weapons with 300-400 attack power and able to effectively wield dual weapons, while the best 1h sword and maces for the cleric class at the same lv is 230-240. What makes this worse is that Monks class have poor base damage to skills. so it is essential we make up for those lack through critical damage

It is highly debated that 200 Crit rate is the turning point for critical chance to lash out 40%-50% of the time, but most bosses have an average of 120 Crit resist lowering this chance to 10-20%. many believe 300 crit rate is the optimal sweet spot to deal almost 80% crit chance on most monsters and 40-50% chance to boss type monster

In my build I decided that it would be best to get half of that number as much as possible from gears, gems, Monstrance scrolls and Zalciai to help boost crit rate on bosses so we don’t have to sacrifice much points on Dex over Str

SKILLS

Krivis Skill set

–

Zaibas Lv15
This is the main bread and butter skill until I hit Monk C2

edited
The Main argument against going Krivis with Monk build is Zaibas, which is a magic based skill scales off from INT. Zaibas is a very powerfull even without investing much on INT.

In my build I have 12 base INT combined with Divine Stigma Lv10 which gives +78 to INT (90 INT) only adds around 100-200 damage to my lv15 Zaibas

Zaibas is a very versatile skill, cast it twice and retreat at a safe distance, cast it with Aukuras to make a monster trap, or cast it while Throwing Punches, or with One Inch Punch. It hits flying monsters, No casting time, 30 sec cooldown, and has Overheat. At Rank 2-3 and up to mid Rank 4, Zaibas out performs most wizard skills. I was able to solo boss rush lv50, 90, 115, 135, 175 Dungeons with Zaibas

Zaibas also synergize well with Blessing and Arde Dagger adding additional Damage

Its weakness is that it is limited to 19 hits at max level, the hit count is evenly divided on the monsters within its AoE making it useless on high HP mobs, especially if those targets are of Earth or Lightning element. we will need Blessing and arde dagger to make up for those weaknesses

Class Rank 2-4
Raise the Attribute to lv30 as soon as you can or Lv50 if possible

Class Rank 5 (MonkC1)
Raise it to Lv50

Zalciai Lv15
Zalciai works in 3 ways

As a Buff - Increase Crit Attack Damage by 100 and adds another 100 from attribute
As a Buff(attribute) - Increase magic amplification by 48 points at max attribute
As a Debuff - Reduce Monster Crit Resist by -28

A very usefull buff to enhance attack damage through crit, it is unaffected by Monster Defense

least priority over Zaibas. I start feeling its effect at Lv10 with 100 Dex where I am able to crit more often

Divine Stigma Lv10
At max lv, boosts STR and INT by 78 points. This is a “condition” buff-debuff, In which you need to cast it first on an enemy target and kill it before the duration runs out, which will then trigger the buff

This skill also works on Tree root crystals, as well as Mine Trap, and Pillar Type Traps from bosses including Restrain attack traps, but you need to keep a certain distance from it.

Divine Stigma works on Pillar traps from bosses, just found out the it also work on mine traps

Its weakness is its short duration, and buff condition, I often find myself rushing to unleash my AoE before the duration runs out

Aukuras Lv1
I can’t feel the regeneration effect of this skill at Lv5 so, Let us just add Lv1. just for the agrro capabilities of this skill, when cast all monsters within its range are drawn to the altar and starts attacking it, unless you are near you will become the monster’s target. Makes a perfect setup for Zaibas and Zalciai

Daino Lv4
My dump stat, I find it more beneficial than dumping skills to Aukuras. especially if you are with a Thaumaturge in a party, I find them more desirable than priest to be in a party because they really double you damage output

Monk Skill set

–

Double Punch Lv15
You main Bread and butter, raise attribute to Lv50 ASAP, with Zaibas at our skill rotation. your stamnina can take a break from time to time

Hand Knife Lv1
Just for the Knockback effect, which makes a good crowd controll skill and Armor Break, These skills have poor damage scaling per level so we will just leave it at Lv1 and max the Armor Break Attribute

It also synergize well Deprotect Zone, Creating a Shockwave AoE effect that spreads Armor Break and Deprotect Debuff on all targets, all monsters except boss types that are immune from knockback gets knocked back with this combo.
A target must first be afflicted by the deprotect zone first to enable the shockwave

Palm Strike Lv1
Just like hand knife it has poor damage scaling per level, so I just add lv1 to this just for the Knockback - crowd control, and Max the bleed debuff which scales with Physical Attack - Max attribute gives a total of 6 Bleed ticks

Energy Blast Lv10
This is the reason we went monk, Ranged AoE Holy property skill that scales with Physical Attack, It hits per damage Look weak compared to double Punch but its actually strong compared to the time it takes to deal the same amount of damage using just Double Punch

Its weakness is that this skill is too linear, you can only fire at 8 different angles, the trick is tokeep in mind that your character is at the middle of the screen to judge the angle of the attack

Energy Blast combos with Ice wall, have a Cryo3 cast ice wall at a straight line and fire energy blast through it, you get a full screen AoE attack combo

One Inch Punch Lv10
A highly overlooked skill, People keep saying “the only reason to go to monk 3 is for Lv10 Energy blast” This is the next big thing after Energy Blast. I have seen another monk deal a total of 20k damage with this skill. It completely drains the target’s SP while quickly dealing HP “bleed” which scale off from Physical Attack, also inflicting silence

even Goku Approves (gold freeza is left speechless)

That leaves 8 unused skill point that I leave I’ll contemplate where to put in the future

God Finger Flick
Put 1 point to this out of curiosity. A very bad skill, This skill has very poor range, poor targeting system, I always get an error “No target in sight” even though the target is rubbing its nose in my avatar’s face (Hello? thats a large golem infront of you)
Animation is also slow, monster can outrun this skill (which is the reason why I picked it in the first place!!) even the damage resolving comes out slow. at Rank6 where the monster’s HP are around 50-100K what kind of crappy base damage is that??!!

This skill needs to be reworked! at least add a targeting system same to Archers and add overheat… or at least a bleed or stun debuff

could be promising though, as a few times I did 2k -4k damage on crit with this skill at Lv3

without enough Lightning energy to propel the coin, God finger flick lacks the fire power neccessary to be a viable weapon

Iron Skin
From what I have heard this skill has potential especially in PvP it give knockback effect, but with the 100 sec cooldown, makes you turn way from this skill. Timing would be very essential when to use it

Golden Bell
Many player who go to earth tower find this skill very usefull, timing is essentail when deploying this skill since it has short duration and with a 3 min cooldown

Gameplay

Cleric1 - Krivis3
Since I can only play a few hours a day I mostly play solo, so this build realy suits my playstyle, Never asked to join a party but I do get invites thanks to zaibas

I breezed through Lv1-50, took only around 4-5 hours thanks to zaibas
Zaibas proves very usefull, with the cleric’s large SP pool and fast regen rate, you can almost spam zaibas. I used enchant scrolls on a goggle head gear and was able to roll a +37 to SP regen, almost never needed to use SP potions again

I start building STR and stopped at 40Pts then start building on DEX

At rank 2-3 and even mid Rank 4 zaibas over powers most wizard and swordsman skills. Farmed a full set cafrisun armor even though there 5 more players in competition in 40 min

At Lv60-80 - Things start to slow down a bit since most monsters are lightning and earth elemental. never got lucky with the arde dagger so I rely on Blessing to boost Zaibas and Auto attack

at Dex100 and Lv10 Zalciai I started to feel the crit rate connecting more often

Monk C1
A depressing state, Monk C1 is very… lackluster, especially when you see another player with the same rank as yours do better damage than you, started to question the meaning of life, the universe, religion, and politics

Still heavily rely on zaibas and and my two offensive Buffs, In fact if not for Zaibas I might have re-rolled to another class

Stopped buidling Dex at 180 and started Dumping on STR

Monk 2

Things start to pick up, saving 8 Points from Monk C1 allows me to Instantly Max(at circle2) Energy Blast and Double Punch at 9 Points, with Suncus Maul adding +2 to all stats, and my current crit rate I’m dealing better damage than expected, At this point I start to less use zaibas and more of Double Punch which reaches from 2k(on crit) to 4k(on crit) depending on the target

Lv3 One Inch Punch + Lv3 Palm Strike can take out enemies almost 20K Hp

Lv3 One Inch Punch + Zaibas x2 can take out targets with almost 40-60K HP

Was really disapointed at God Finger Flick mainly due to its targeting system and range. Damage could be promising as I was able to deal between 2k to 4k damage on crit at Lv3.

As I build more STR and my Double Punch getting stronger, I start to use less Zaibas, but it is still usefull

at LV10, Divine Stigma adds around 200-300 Damage to my Double Punch
and around 100-200 on Zaibas with a Total of 100 INT

DPS seem good as most of the times I deal more damage to Boss Monsters in Dungeons compared to other swordsman classes since I stay infront most of the time due to my high evasion and Safety wall, spamming Double Punch

Having a sorcerer in the party solves the stamina issues

Monk C3

Comming soon

Party Play, Dungeon Runs and Missions

Always the First to throw the Initial Attack thanks to Energy Blast’s range

I Leave the Healing to the full support build, and use my heals and safety zone to back up the main healer and help buff up damage output

Unfortunately at times, You are forced to support whether you like it or not, especially if every one in the party has low HP, most notorious are the messy players who knows only how to spam skills and don’t pay attention to boss monster movement

I can feel the hurt and disapointment of players as they lie there in the dungeon floor waiting to be resurected

All I can do is offer a band aid (here’s lv 5 Heal sir)

To do list

Currently saving 10 Points for Monk C3 and building up Lv6 Green gems.
Monk C3 seems very promising.

Farming Silver to upgrade attributes

Zaibas Lv40 to Lv50 - around 400K
Double Punch Lv30 to Lv50 - Around 1.5m
Energy Blast Lv20 to Lv30 - around 300k
Zalciai Lv50 - Lv100 - around 400k
Leather Mastery Lv50 - 100 - ??

I wish all you guys going this build luck since people get salty when u don’t have 10 tiles.

Heal scales according to the Target’s HP, it mostly enough to almost fully heal most Archers and Wizards HP. Swordsmen are Healed at 70-80%

Never tried asking to be in a party but they still add me…

Tad contradictory since INT directly influences Matk, and also Zaibas has INT in the damage formula, meaning that INT influences the damage in 2 ways. I understand you are trying to justify your build, but it comes across as misinformation in an attempt to support a poor decision.

The build actually works really well. I went a similar build Cleric2>Krivis2>Monk3 SPR/CON/DEX I need very little dex/crit rate to crit my targets thanks to Zalciai. enemies crit resist drop -115 and my crit attack +175. I mostly party with swordsman and archers since they get the most benefit from my build.

Gawd your right!! I screwed up there… will need to revise this that part, Its hard Trying to find words to describe the ideas in my head . whill change that

How much SPR did you allocated, the multiplier for SPR in zalciai is .8 so I’m guessing around 40 SPR which is -32 to crit resist + lv15 zalciai (-37) to reduce a boss monster’s crit resist in half

I have a stat reset potion sitting in my box, so I’n not afraid to make any mistakes at stat points for now

I put about 90-100 pts into SPR 50 pts in DEX and dumped the rest in CON.

wow, I think that is really high, If calculations are correct that is more than enough to reduce most boss monsters crit resit to less than half

curious…, why did you put more points in SPR wouldn’t you benefit more with a CON DEX build - High HP and evasion rate?

I could of benefited more with more CON and DEX but i wanted to focus more on the Zalciai debuff, from what i hear you can reduce an enemies crit resistance into the negatives.

I see… That is more effective since the whole party benefits from the Zalciai even with low Crit rate.

Good one b ^^, d

Out of curiosity why did you not take the c2 diev 2 monk 3 path?

I didn’t want to be like every other monk. I just like to try different things to see if it works, and so far so good.

Its the 3rd most popular Monk Build. for me I want to have a build that is unique and personaly belongs to me,

It also matches well with my playstyle which is how I approach most rpg games

The charm of this game is letting you fully customize your class build and seing how it turns out.

@Senpachie
I like your build, I might make my next build similar to yours or turn it into a plague doctor to spread the crit debuff

I was thinking of going PD, kinda wish I did since im more of a support monk.

Interesting build. I actually have a Cleric 1 - Krivis 2 character that was going to be a monk. I was thinking Cleric 1 - Krivis 2 - Priest 1 (for moonstrance) or Cleric 2 for Safety zone - Monk 3

But now that you are doing it I will hold on this and focus on my other two and see what you can say at 220+

I am unfortunately not going as fast and am working on 2 characters at the same time. May be will drop one of them at 180ish once i see how c2 monk performs at my end

Just one thing I want to nitpick on:

Zalciai shouldn’t be leveled past Lv3 (For the Enhance attribute) because of the low scaling per skill level. Here’s the Lv3 and Lv15 Zalciai:

  • Lv3
    Ally’s Critical Attack: +(25 + SPR)
    Enemy’s Critical Resistance: -(9 + SPR x 0.8)

  • Lv15
    Ally’s Critical Attack: +(100 + SPR)
    Enemy’s Critical Resistance: -(28 + SPR x 0.8)

For +12 skill levels, those benefits aren’t worth it, and the main benefit comes from the Zalciai:Enhance attribute and SPR (Which you’d only be getting from equipment if they have it since you don’t run SPR in your stat distribution). Those extra points would be better off in Aukuras.

I see… that makes me contemplate wether I should add more SPR in this build
to make most out of zalciai

I tried building Aukuras but since I am more mobile and keep moving from different areas (thanks to the game’s low spawn rate) and Aukura’s 1m cooldown
I don’t benefit much from Aukuras. I’m a solo player, maybe when my playstyle changes I might shift those points to aukuras when I skill reset
right now I benefit more from Lv15 Zalciai since I have high dex I go through the monster’s crit resist wall

interesting thing, its actually -37 to enemy crit resist with Lv15 Zalciai not -28

my Zalciai enhance is only Lv50 here so its only 161

That extra 9 should be coming from your current SPR amount. Is it 11?

Yeah its… so -28 is correct
