Broom Trap vs Feint+Barrage in late game

Hello everyone. Since rank 8 has been out i’ve been meaning to build my mergen-to-be char. My build WILL have wugushi c3 no matter what. But, i’m actually torn apart between two options:

  1. Ar 2 > Sapper 2 > wugu 3 > Mergen

  2. Ar 2 > Ranger 1 > Wugushi 3 > rogue > Mergen

My main concerns/thoughts are the following:

  1. I’m a little worried about broom trap into late game content. Seeing how mobs have 210k+ HP for the new rank 8 content, and most mobs seems to be leather ( - 50% broom damage since they are strike type damage);

  2. If path 1 is choosen, the “struggle” with possible tankier flying mobs until mergen, since my two best aoe spells fail to hit them (broom & Gu pot);

  3. Will Feint+Barrage suffice as a 20s~ burst to kill mobs in-between Mergen/Wugushi rotation? I feel like, with barrage at higher atributte levels it >may< be stronger that a 15s broom trap, despite the AoE factor;

  4. Since both Gu pot and Arrow Rain(Arrow Sprinkle) can be captured, rouge might be a nice little “plus” in the build;

  5. With the new Werewolf cards, and considering Mergen skills high base damage ( and probably c2 and c3 Mergen will have even higher base damage) Sneak hit seems to shine more, since it will be a flat 70% crit chance, and would help me focus on STR ( which will benefit wugushi a lot) and Con for survival. But i don’t know how many werewolfs cards can be stacked.

So, after this little wall of text, could you guys help me out, showing your points of view into both builds and my considerations? Thanks a lot to everyone who has read the post and to those who reply to help me here.

sapper2 here my opinion is
1.broom trap eventally fall off late game even current end game broom trap can’t do much dmg, but still nice addtion dmg and in your build can trigger wu gong gu well
2. broom and gu pot are good AoE that only hit ground and both fall off later. You still needle blow for single target and can use some left over point of sapper to detonate trap (have +250% to fly enemies) for the time being, but I think the problem still happen late game
3. feint+barrage is like burst 10 hit and has overheat, broom trap in upto 24 hits over 15s, both skill dmg most likely come from attribute level

Very similar build vs bosses (has cannon1), using captured arrow rain and more:

Yeah i really saw those, but the burst was so high that i could barely see the feint+barrage combo. I really wanted to see if that can be a reliable source of damage compared to broom trap later on. Also i’m still looking at how many werewolves cards can be stacked, perhaps you have any info about it ?

Thanks for replying btw

Thanks a lot for replying man. Many sapper 2 i know are too much biased towards the class to give me a real feedback. I’ve seen some nice damages on broom here and there, but always on plate mobs, which i don’t think is a realiable source to compare it’s damage at late game.

I had a Sapper 2 > Wugu 1 sometime ago, but i deleted it in order to open a character slot for a character my guild needed at the time. Broom was very good at lvl 90~160, but i already felt it lackluster the more i reached towards lvl 200 ( it had 40~45% enhance at the time iirc).

Thanks for you feedback. Really appreciate your opinion.

Hi, in KToS the max amount of stacked cards is 5. I think we will get it soon, so don’t go beyond 5x werewolf lvl 10.

Sapper2 doesn’t offer much, just broom trap as extra damage (and detonate traps if you want to be mean during worldbossing/PvP). And one gimmick using Punji stakes.

Sapper2 is very early true AoE, similar to Pyro for wizards. Rank 4 = broom trap, you may use it during dungeon 90 and +. Great to farm demon prison since spiders are plate. Lv 200+ you need high attribute or capture double broom trap to deal sufficient damage.

Not your build, but ranger rogue feint barrage vs lvl 280 mobs:

build two is better , because rogue capture and sneak hit always welcome for endgame , if you don’t take wugu3 , try this build ar1-r1-sap2-rogue-wugu2-mergen

i have both Sapper 2, Ranger and Rogue in my current cannoneer
for a 230 high HP mob, my bloom trap took away about 50% HP
and my Feint Barrage with 3 cast took away about 80-95% HP
note that my bloom trap have only 25% dmg attribute, and my Barrage have only 65% dmg attribute
I dont have any Wugushi in any of my character
Bloom trap deal less dmg, and having issue with flying mob, but bloom trap have relatively huge range, it literally hit everything within the trap
Feint Barrage suffer from AOE restriction, when the mob excess a certain number, i could not hit every single of them, but Feint Barrage become my only viable Anti Air skill until I have unlock Cannoneer

for a Mergen, i would take path 2, since Sapper 2 Wugushi 3 suffer from AA skill, you would have to stick with needle bow, zhendu for AA. Rogue seem to be able to capture Mergen AOE too, further more going Wugushi i m guessing high STR low DEX, Rogue sneak hit cover up the lack of crit rate on low DEX build

Thanks a lot for the video man. I really like the damage. it ranges from 40~60k damage per use, so it’s a possible 120~180k damage every 20s~ considering feint cooldown. I think i will follow build 2.

May i ask you how do you find those videos? I mostly search as "2016 [month we’re in] " and filter for date the video was sent. But mostly are pretty bad videos ( some gems in between but).

Look at Inven Kr ToS forums.

OR go to youtube directly.
Youtube - You should type:
TOS 2016 08 31 - and look at the lvl of the character (lvl 280+ is rank8).
Of course, look at the name of the uploader too.
Format: TOS Year Month Day.
Feel free to put nice videos into the rank8 video thread.

Sometimes the uploader doesn’t use TOS year month day, buy direct korean text, then it is more difficult to find.

Thanks for you input, i really appreciate it. That’s one of the things i thought too: Barrage, being a rank 2 skill, cost way less to reach high attributes value compared to broom trap. Even though it’s AoE is huge, i think wu gong gu + barrage/feint combo + mergen aoe skills will suffice pretty well the AoE departament, and i will be able to deal a very good single target damage with poisons + barrage/feint and the hovering fire from mergen.

The Sneak hit part is what entices me the most to follow this. Mergen high value for skill damages benefits the rogue path, since sneak is a 70% flat chance + the werewolves cards to help with positioning.

Will do, man. Thanks a lot for your inputs here. If i find anything interesting i will post there, i keep close track of that topic.
