Actually, I’v been following Steparu the youtuber for a while for ToS and according to him/her the bosses are a bit too easy in CB1 and then buffed in CB2 with random attack patterns that doesn’t even target the players sometimes since also mid/late bosses aren’t meant to be soloed from that start anyways and I’v also been following the korean CB3 and it still seems a bit too easy for players.
Bosses need to be a lot harder, nothing is worse than a pathetic boss.
Everyone was saying bosses were to easy. Now its good they made them harder, plus bosses aren’t meant to be soloed, well most. Good luck to u on ur boss though bro
The issue is that they’re doing it wrong. Problems related to mobs/bosses “AI” algorithms aren’t being fully solved yet, and they’re making it harder by adding more strenght and bigger attacks to the bosses. At the end of the day, bosses will be doing 2-hit kills on most players. That’s a bit unforgiving, and doesn’t really translate to difficulty, just to frustration.
The ideal damage bosses should deal is around 33% of a average character’s HP, meaning he needs to get hit at least 3 times before he loses, otherwise battles become too volatile, you make one mistake and it might be it. I even think superplay (as in, playing in the most skillfull way possible, avoiding all damage, killing enemies fast, those things) should be incentivated by ALL games with a degree of competitivity, but shouldn’t be enforced.
Honestly, they need to solve all the idle bosses problems, then we can say if the game is correctly balanced or not. I’m pretty sure at CBT2 there were bosses who would stay still for as long as 10 seconds after attacking, which is probably not intended, and apparently this wasn’t fully sorted out yet.
I agree
The bosses lack speed… When they attack they always has long delay for the next attack. Monster dont cast their skill faster… So its very easy dodge all of their moves + Bosses have those red cast ring which tell where monster attack next… This should be only work with Oracle…
If they are going for lazy route they can just add more damage to monster balancing.
You shouldn’t play alone since its not a console offline game.
And i think its not hard, but challenging.
also, what is the point of soloing a boss ? If the game becomes that easy, its monetary system will crash, players wont be looking for parties and related stuff, making the game even more competitive and less enjoyable.
Exactly this. I don’t even mind getting killed, even oneshooted, if it was a cool designed attack that got me unaware, but this does not happen in this game(at least close to lvl 40, which is not that much into the game so i do not know many things past that).
So i should be gated of playing the game the way i want?
It’s neither of those, it’s just frustrating.
The point of soloing a boss, huh, let’s see:
Role-Playing, Challenging, Sense of accomplishment.
This are the ones that got in my mind, and there i a lot of ways to make party viable if they wish so, like adding more drop rates in party.
God of war series is your bet.
Onimusha series too.
Devil may cry series.
Those above has all you want/need. Beside their lore is awesome, i recommend.
Difficult bosses force people to socialize and work together, that is the point and that is how it should be.
thats why its called Boss, they should be hard
and easy games are boring =p
Oh my, did not know that any of those were online games were i could create my character so i can role play as i want and play as i want to, thank you so much mister!
You mostly welcome sir ! Always at the community service.
If you really like to “roleplay” try on DDO, tons of soloers there, fully customization chars.
Monster hunter series.
Koei games :
Dynasty warriors series.
Samurai warriors series.
(y)
That is totally fine. but i don’t think it should be need through the entire game, which if you are doing bosses(meant sidequests) there is 3 per area minimum. Now if it is a raid boss in any point the game i would be fine too with parties, but they have to be well implemented, not just include more people in a party just so DPS is increased and kill it quickier, this again is something that may or may not happen latter on the game, but partys are basically this earlier on.
challenging & sense of accomplishment -> souls series/bloodborne. can’t beat those
Totally off topic but why not?
Challenging yes, you can’t(i think), but sense of accomplishment can vary, sometimes even though you die in a boss fight, if you manage to parry him one time it is worth it( happened a lot in DkS2).
Last time i checked, bosses are supposed to be somewhat hard.
Then again, i have hitoshura on my list of defeated bosses, so what i deveive as hard are diamonds for others.
So, let me get this straight. You want to solo the boss yourself without asking for help because you want to experience a sense of accomplishment… and yet here you are asking for help in a form of a nerf in order to beat the boss?
I don’t understand how you can find any accomplishment that the developers felt pity for your inability to beat a boss that others seem to do just fine in… and decided to nerf it.
When something is challenging, I overcome it. I don’t become so frustrated with it that I ask my superiors to give me a break… especially when everyone else is enduring the same challenges I am going through… and they’re also not complaining about it. I don’t really know how people can so shamelessly plead like this on a public forum, is it because the internet is innately anonymous?
Last time I heard a bunch of people complain about difficulty, was with Mabinogi. Now it’s an terrible pay2win nerfed to heck piece of crap… do you really want a nerf? I don’t think so… Most well designed games rarely ever nerf anything to accommodate players who don’t like the difficulty.
Then again, most well designed games aren’t the most popular either. With games like Sakura Clicker getting more funding than games with actual challenge…
Please don’t nerf things too much IMCgames OTL
You are aplying singleplayer game logic here, and it’s not the right solution.
So what if you die with one hit? You should have a cleric in your party with revive, or just come back and not do the same mistake again.
Also you can’t exactly balance the attack to hit in 3 hits to everyone. Everyone has different build and skill and they are going to recieve damage in a lot of different ways and numbers.
Less attacks that one shot you, more smart ways to implement attacks, that is what i am asking.
And i said that i was mostly salt of a combination of small problems that turn into a big one, but i see you are not really that interested in reading the topic.
I do too, who said i stopped playing the game? And your analogies does not make sense. if this was a job where i HAD to play and do every single boss with the same challenge as everybody than i wouldn’t be here. I am just trying to suggest something that i think is another and in my opinion better than what it is in the game, in the somewhat official forum of the god damn game. So i think you are the one that is in the wrong thinking that i should just keep it shut instead of suggesting things.
Oh and Dota 2 and LoL do that too and look at where they are now. There will be multiple examples of both situations if you look far enough but this is totally irrelevant to this discussion.
Design is totally subjective, as there are a lot of games that you might think is awesome but will go under the radar, that does not mean that either one is better than the other.
