Beta Feedback! below good ATM. 6/10

First off i want to thank Tree of savior for letting me have the chance to try this game, as i old rag player i feel amuse by the ark and style of this game, so lets appreciate that for a sec…3…2…1…done.

Okey i see this game as a little child from Ragnarok which is making the same mistakes of his father that have his positive and his negatives, but how good are his positive attributes? and how bad are his negative one? Do it really need to change somethings? or is it good as it is? just some polish?.. the answer is a NO, it needs a lot to compete with all this flashy games to come in 2016… Blade&Soul, CrowFall, EQ online, ect! Trust me!

I dont know what are the plans for the future, open beta etc i supposed they are aware of what they need to do, so i know this is not a final version of the game but do i know it will be something similar to this.

Lets get to it, things to /FIX or /Implement:
1-Party System, it sucks, i doesn’t let people create new parties, and is too difficult to find someone of your level unless your are near him. Parting is a big party of any mmo, and is a deal breaker to anyone to not be able to play with a friend, specially in a game like this where boss fight matter a lot.

2-UI modes, im talking about mouse keyboard, they are just not ideal for this game specially, thank god it lets you decide suits you more, but i couldn’t find one for me, i find my bar click everyone pet instead of atking certain mob, the direction of the skill is messed up so bad, i still don’t understand why if im facing somewhere i end up missing the skill entirely, i think you guys should check what you call AoE range and make skill be exec in the direction your are pointing the mouse or facing… or give to choose between.

3-Keybinding: i dont have to explain this do I? If it is already in the game… i cant find it.

4-Grinding:
Game this day doesn’t even give the option to players to grind because first, nobody likes to grind, it makes easy to bot flood the game servers and spots, if you want a health game for the server and for the community try to gate grind to items and resources only. How? gate the experience from mobs when you stand in the same spot and give other stuff to do which leads us to the next point, "

5-Dungeons: i dont really understand why there is just 1 dungeon between level 1-89 and is the lvl50 one. i don’t know if it is laziness which i think it is, cause the dungeon is bad, i mean is it a dungeon? it looks like map of the game with steroid mobs… no mechanics, no npc, no interactions, nothing… just go kill this and this—>get the hell out–>repeat. Guys, the first dungeon of a game should/have/must be GOOD, there are a lot of player that don’t like grind or questing that much, instead they love dungeons, raid , instances. If that is first taste of it, they will quit and fast, I mean ToS is the first game that i have seen in which you at lvl70 you are still doing a lvl50 dungeon, because there is no other dungeon to do, at a point where you have done all quest till lvl 83 and is not longer viable. That is what i call… the stuck gap, games cant have them… those gap make people try other games and leave the one they are stuck and bored, which led us to the next point. (err make more dungeons at least each 20lvls till 90 and font make em a square with mobs please… please guys… give it at least some interaction, some history…)

5.2- Dungeon Difficulties, if you not want to make lots of dungeons at least give em different difficulties. From easy(solo), normal (recommended party 3 people) hard (6 people) and insane or whatever. With the first 2 not needing for tank and healer at the same time.

.6-Game Guides:
This should be a greeting of some sort of window where it shows you what you can do at your current level, which show zones, dungeon, quest, events that why it will be harder to find yourself without options.

7-Server Lag: I know this is a closed beta and we are just giving some shot to the server, to calculate what we need and all that stuff… but i have to mention it, at some point is mad bad.

8-Shuttering/Fps spikes: i have a i3 2100 and a 660gt 2gb with 8gb ram, this game should be butter to my system, but instead i just get 60fps when im alone, when other players start to stack their skills, i get to 19fps. i don’t know if is just me. You guys let me know.

9-Damage in party. at least for me it is difficult to know what damage is mine or from my team, give them a different color

10- Character creation: ill leave just this here “Class—>Hair—>Name?”

11- Character customization:
i suppose this is how you are planning to maintain the game, people getting flashy costumes to show off, rare dyes for hair, hats, pets skins,…,ect. the issue is… a level 80 char looks exactly as a lvl200 if they dont use another costume… i mean there are some many twins here.

Well i think that is all for now, let me know what you guys think and remember this is just my opinion and is subjected to changes in the future, i believe this game will be awesome if done right! Looking forward to play with you and sorry for bad English.

Technically that is the first party dungeon aims to get the boss. If they add some more quests/stories related to it it would make more sense

The first dungeon would be the Crystal mine, second one would be Tenet Chapel, then Royal Mausoleum - Constructor chapel, Mausoleum 1F - 5F etc

There are plenty of dungeons in the game already, it’s just that party dungeon doesn’t have any story line connected yet.

1 - I’ll agree with the party system for the most part. It makes inviting people into a party quite annoying without a /invite command, as you’ll have to insert the party invite tag into a whisper or whatever if you’re trying to invite them remotely. The party search thing needs to be overhauled so that it’s more flexible in its searches (ie. search by party name, player name, player levels, etc). Also with the way the search works currently, I think it’s case sensitive which is quite bad as you’ll have to know how it was typed in exactly.

2 - Mouse and Keyboard definitely needs more work. There are cases where you need to switch to Keyboard mode in order to interact with a NPC (like the one in Klaipeda for achievements/iCoins, and there’s some quests out there that require this). Having a pet can be a problem as well if you accidentally mouse over your pet, your next auto attack/skill might go flying in some other direction/target.

3 - Keybinding isn’t in the game, you have to do it through .xml file editing (not too hard, but this should be possible in game).

4 - I don’t mind the grinding too much personally, but my friends that used to play in this iCBT feel like it’s a bit too linear in terms of grinding options (no dungeon options or too few map choices for a given level range).

5 - I agree that there are too few instances (I don’t mean the open world dungeons) in the game currently. The first instance (level 50), is somewhat in a bad spot to begin with since it’s shortly after an exp curve reset so you’re going to plow through its usefulness in a short time frame. There should be more instances however, perhaps one every 20 levels, so one at level 50, 70, 90, 110, 130, etc. This simply gives players more options on where they would like to grind or spend their time at least. More options cannot hurt.

5.2 - I guess I could agree with this.

6 - This would be good for new players for sure.

7 - The lag wasn’t so bad after the first week I guess, but that might be due to a good amount of people quitting after the first week as well (a few of my friends quit on the second or third day since their class can’t function when they are lag locked in skill animations).

8 - It’s not just you, the game definitely needs some client optimization somehow. The biggest offenders is the bullet stuff that bosses shoot out. The next offender is just simply having a bit of objects on screen, for example, a 5-man party doing an instance and my fps is a bit low on the last boss (level 130 dungeon).

9 - This would be nice.

10 & 11 - no comment from me.

12 - I wish there was a way to restore showing exp from kills like iCBT1 had. Also, I’d like the option to see the actual exp on my bars instead of % (or have both on/off).

Looks like someone clearly haven’t seen it all, and still not passing 100, been playing alone, while 1 or 2 points can be agreed upon but really… explore more.

People just too fond of regular mmorpg to expect straight line game contents

Party System: FIX IT. Then add maybe a better Party board where you can search for members and partys (best: automatically, worldwide over all channels ofc).

2&3.
Agree. I had to use a special modifieable external keyboard to get a good game feeling. This sucks hardly. And a personalized Key Binding is part of nearly any Game since over 10 Years.

4&5.
Personally i like grinding more then this anoying quests (Bla kill 5 monsters then go back to me) but ATM there i’m not finding enough good grind spots (for solo/party) and Quests are way more rewarding. Increase the EXP of the monsters and maybe decrease the exp cards a bit and implement more good grind spots all over the levels (espacially “level-gap”).
And: The Backwarping to the Quest NPC is a very good option i like, you should highly increase this option (f.e. allways porting to the next NPC if you allready talked to him [and maybe even a backwarp to the curious spot] - this would make quests way less anoying).

You have allready a game guide (called main quest) but i allways feel kidding when i hear “YOU are the ONLY one who can save the world” when i exactly know the NPC tells the exact same words to thousands and millions of other players…

11- Character customisation
I like your class setup, its very versatile and unique. But you should give the exact formulas to the players - it just sucks hardly if you cant really compare skills to each other, calculate the Damage, calculate the effects of STR/INT and if its worth to increase them. Its just anoying if you have to test everything out in the fields and invest month in an idea that doesnt work cause you missinterpreted one of the skill descriptions.

The Chat System sucks hardly. If you PM with multiple persons at once you have to do a high effort switching between them. If you relog, enter an instance, change Map or Channel mostly all personal and party messages are gone (only world messages stay mostly). I read that it should be possible to restore them but i asked several times in world chat and nobody seems to know, how.
Same as party play Chatting is an absolute CORE competence of any MMO… if this dont work correctly or your not interested in you can play an offline game too.

Fairchild:
He’s right in 1 point; most people decide the first days/weeks if they want continuing playing a game and then its mostly cause if they like the neewby content and game “feeling”. If thats not what they want they will quit, no matter how good the end content is.

Ok, here are some of my remarks:

  1. I didn’t really noticed that the party system is somehow badly designed, but maybe you are right. So far I noticed, that mostly the reason we cannot find a party is due to the fact, that many ppl don’t want to party with you, or there are simply no players at the given lvl/quest. Especially now, when many players left due to the connection issues / incoming end of tests or being at much higher lvls. But I noticed, that when there are party nearby and it shows in a window at the left side of the screen, I cannot send invite request to them by this window (or they do not replay to it D: ). Not sure if it’s just me or it lacks functionality.

  2. Yeah, I think it’s just not yet perfect and still needs some fixes, especially mouse mode, where you sometimes cannot click NPCs/objects or pet menu pop out during fight. Targeting system should prioritize monsters in such case.

  3. Good point. I believe it will be introduced anyway.

  4. Well, I’ve seen some ppl that actually like to grind, though I’m not really fond to it. It would be great if grinding was more rewarding, so it could take only about 2h to reach next stage of history, instead of spending all day. Especially when we are talking about low levels!

  5. Can’t really say too much here. I had no issue getting up to lvl 100 with just quests and instance at lvl 50.
5.2 Very nice idea, but I’m afraid that it could divide players even further, i.e. DPS class would just do solo dungeon where support classes would be in a pinch. Probably harder options should be much much more rewarding to encourage players to form a party.

  6. Good at the early phase of game. But I think it might be nice to drop it at later point in game, to leave player freedom to explore the world (considering that the game would be not linear at higher lvls.

  7. Can’t say too much here either. Huge lags for the first week. Now I can play very smooth.

  8. Yes, this definitely requires further investigation.

  9. Interesting idea.

  10. I’m quite ok as it is now.

  11. Leave some space for IMC to earn money, ok?

Also on the topic of the lvl 50 dungeon it gets you from lvl 50-70 with that much xp why do they need a second one? each dungeon covers 20 lvls

i repect all of your openions and thanks for explaining them.
As i;m leveling up ill be adding more issues, if notice that many of those just get worst and worst the higher you climb, and
concerning to why poeple dont like to party, is because (most of the time) they are dumb, this game isnt mean for solo playing and at higher levels its almost mandatory, and not talk just about dificulty, when you are in party the more poeple there is, the more experience you gain. poeple doesnt know that, and thats why the level alone
