Awkward companions - need adjustments

Please fill in as much as you can :

Date and Time : Anytime

Game Control Mode (Keyboard/Joypad/Mouse) : Doesn’t matter

Where it happened (which map, which quest, which npc, etc) : Any

Bug Description :
Hunter’s rely heavily on companions, yet many of the companion’s actions are just nonsensical.

Companions will often stand around and not attack. When using abilities they will just pick a random nearby target, not what you’re fighting or anything you have targetted or selected. There is almost no way to control the companion properly.

They often get lost in dungeons or areas, or will often just stand around and not fight. When used abilities will often not trigger or work, companion will run around, get stuck, or just not engage an enemy.

The class is conceptually neat, but if you are having several classes revolve around companions, then companions need to actually work on a basic level…

Also, can’t feed a companion in a dungeon, but it will take your feed anyways without any stamina benefit.

Abilities are poorly described - Coursing doesn’t work on mots enemies, making it hit or miss at best.

Steps to reproduce the issue :

  1. Be a hunter, seriously just be a hunter and try to use half the skills. :frowning:

Hunter skills and companion AI has been known to be buggy since the CBT days.

Search the forums for a ton of these similar threads and you’ll be surprised how we haven’t gotten a solid reply or assurance that these will get fixed anytime soon.

OK for 1v1 PVP though but not for damage but for utility.

Developers not interested that, they do a new costumes

Yeah, sad story.

I presume they’re just relying on what fixes kTOS is getting and Hunter unfortunately might not be a popular pick there, if not the least popular, so not prioritized.

Someone just wrote a post with a possible solution for the “root” companion problem: turn the First Aid attribute off

You could test it and share your findings with us :relaxed:
