Around 20k (now its 120k) or more CBT Registered, will the server be able to handle it?

  • just think about it, at the start of beta around 3-5k players logs-in then the starting area or town will be flooded with players, will there be any problems with this? like server crash or so?

-specially class that will use skills in town

-or what do you guys think other problems that will occur?

I suppose there will be multiple clusters or channels.

Most likely it would. If not, they will divide it by channels. Just gotta have a strong net and you’ll be fine.

It was 5 channels back in CBT1, may have more now.

IMC made no limit on how many people can test, i’m sure they feel confident it can handle many people at once.

Ikr I was in cbt1. It only makes sense in this situation.

ToS server arhitecture have channels.
So 10-15 channels at start will be pretty good amount to play comfortable.

I remember around 20 channels on first day of cbt1, when I was choosing one. Safe to assume we will have that many to handle 4x the players.

Oh god this reminds me of Ro1 open beta times when the population was so damn huge!

This is what we call a stress test. It’s kinda obvious they are testing how much the servers can take. However, I would bet my money on login servers to go down instantly and the servers going down at least a couple of times during the cbt.

I’m sure they know what they’re getting themselves into.

they have to test their servers at some point better during beta than release.
Prepare for downed servers thou i have never been in beta / release / etc that didn’t crash at when the flood gates open.

Same here, even very big companies like blizz couldn’t take the tidal wave of players hammering the login servers and game servers on their releases.

Yeah but there was like 5 millions of people trying log in xD I really hope we dont get the same problem with just 30-40k people.

4 channels and the channel 3 was off more often =)

The only lag i experienced previous icbt was when everyone gathered in Klaipeda on the last day. Well they have back up solutions ready if the servers can’t handle the traffic when icbt2 starts.

The servers will die but that’s fine, gotta test that at some point so it can be ready for launch day.

Reading the replies, there are some misleading comments like “there will be more channels so it should be fine.”

The amount of channels don’t really matter, it’s the servers if they have upgraded or not (which surely they have to have done for this uncapped beta registration). They could have 100 channels but if the Servers can’t handle the amount of people online at once, every channel will lag regardless of how many channels there are.

There’s no public estimate for how much capacity the servers can handle.

(channels are made for mobbing etc and it does help with lag ofc with less crowding but the main issue is if the servers can handle the amount of players online at the same time. Two different things in a technical point of view)

As someone said already, this is just a stress test for the new Servers they have.

we now have reached 20k Registered in 2nd Beta Test… there’s still more ongoing

You also have to remember that the current 20k are from all different type of timezones

EU, US, and some Southeast Asia countries (if they don’t have a local publisher).

You can likely assume that active users at a time will be signficantly lower than the registered total number.
