Armor Break (Why does the title need to be 15 chracters?!)

Does anyone know if armor break is good? Or how much it reduces defense by?
I’ve attempted to find information about it and the most I got was “Reduces the target’s defense.” Which is hardly enough to determine if it’s actually good/worth using.
Looking at both PvE and PvP applications.

Based on my personal experience, we will deal around 25-30% more damage against enemies that are affected by armor break.

IIRC Armor Break basically reduces your enemy’s pdef to 0.
But it can be resisted sometimes.

Small addition: with auto-attacks, yes. Skills with huge damage multipliers won’t benefit much, weak multi-hits like Flare Shot or Carve may deal double the damage.

And yes, it drops enemy PDef stat to 0.

Overall it’s a nice thing to have, if you can afford to take it, you take it.

That sounds great, definitely worth taking some points then.
Debating whether I should just dump all the points I can into Skull Swing/Vertical Slash combo or get Moulinet to 9 with 1 point in Skull Swing.

People say that vertical slash damage is lacking. So you might rather max skull swing and moulinet. Duration of armor break increases with lvl of SS.

get skull swing lvl 5. any enemy but bosses will lose their pdef to 0 forever (even pvp)
when u have it only lvl 1 it will last for 10 secs on bosses, while lvl 5 lasts for 30 secs.
for me this skills can be considered a great dps skill, if u use it in bosses. cus all your party pdmg will go up. and on world bosses its even better

in the other hand, vertical slash only need 1 point, cus its not good, but i believe it can shine when u are fighting world bosses

Is there any confirmation that it cuts all defense? Or maybe it’s just a huge flat chunk?

I mean it may be like -200 armor if it was tested only on enemies with <200 armor.

If it could cut like 500+ pdef from world bosses it would be too essential skill to not get it.

And more importantly, it would make any defense increasing/decreasing skills even more meaningless in PvP.

Nice video, it shows mechanig of the skill pretty well.

But I though that crits can’t deal 1 damage, because crit attack is “pure” damage. Now I see it’s not true. It seems that if you have less attack then enemy defense your damage can probably become “negative”, and will substract from your crit attack. It makes defense much better stat then I though, turning it into another effective crit counter. This way DEX build look even less profitable then before and skull swing becomes a must skill for such a builds. But I think it will be nerfed sooner or later, permanent defense destruction is too good for PvP.

u can use it only once in 40 secs. and its not AoE. and swordsman need good skils right?

also, as u said, its a “must” for DEX builds, thats why its on highlander c3 (a pro - 2hander)

Ahem, it IS AoE. You just need a proper gear/a falconer, and hit box is really big.

It is a must not only for 2H sword builds, it’s even more essential for any DEX build from Spear users to Rapier+Shield users. I just designed a DEX build of Rodelero/Fencer based on Shield Push -225 defense decrease, but now I see this build is absolute trash, because you have a skill that permanently destroys enemy defense completely.

I simply HAVE TO build Highlander to not fall off in terms of damage. Absolutely every party that deals physical damage need highlander in order to not lose tons of DPS. And it’s probably not even main highlander skill.

I think it should rather be short durational(~10-20 seconds max) 50 % decrease, 8-10 seconds 100% decrease(like finestra piercing defense ignore, but for the party) or flat amount long durational decrease (like 300 armor for the duration which is now applied only on bosses). This way it will be a great skill but won’t kill the purpose of other similar skills in swordsman tree.

If swordsmen ever become as strong as the other classes, then this skill should be first to nerf. But it’s my personal opinion, maybe I will reconsider after few days. Now it looks just too good for me in comparsion with other SW skills. Feeling is similar to Stone Skin.

Cannoners have armor break too ^^. No need to ge tit if you party right.

Cannoners have it the right way. Short durational (10 seconds), with only 35% chance on skill with 30 seconds cd.

Compare to Highlander permanent with 100% chance (I think it still may be resisted, but the same applies for cannoners). Though CD is slightly higher, 40 seconds. Though I agree that since Skull swing is Circle 3 skill, it should be stronger, so even 100% chance(like it is now) to break armor for 3 seconds per level would be completely adequate. However I would rather prefer double duration 50% armor break in order to make other skills that decrease armor viable (especiall flat one, so they would apply after % decrease). Also they can leave permanent armor break on non-elite mobs.

But anyway, there are so much skills that break armor while armor buffs are so meager (yes, I’m talking to you, Armor Maintenance).

So there’ll be a skill that completely nullifies armor?

Who wants nerf xD.

I want it buffed. And i want clerics stoneskin nerfed.
And some cc counters … for all archer/ swordy classes.
