It canât technically be a bait and switch because they never offered something specific in the first place (thereâs not bait, hence no switch). Let me elaborate in case you donât get it. If I offered you a car, but you expected a Porche but I gave you the Ford instead, it isnât a bait-and switch because I never offered you the Porche in the first place.

Well if itâs not greed and it is necessity then say it in an honorable and professional way. They donât have anybody on the top of them to tell them anything about how they manage their game. Basically itâs like throwing money to a charity that the only thing you know about it is the name.
The forum outrage stopped the cash grab. Or heck, got it more attention. We called them out. Youâre hiding behind technicalities and white knighting the heck out of IMC.
Users are smarter than this. Not everyone is going to fork over $50.00 USD for an Open Beta which had absolutely no signs of being paid for. The Founderâs Pack and Early Access came out of nowhere.
I understand what youâre saying, but let me edit your example so that itâs not wrong. So I expected a Porshe, right? What if someone else got a Porshe for free and you had been hyping up this car for a while. Then out of nowhere you tell me I can get the Porshe, but I have to pay now or I can wait three months and get it. Ford isnât even an option. I donât have a car.
I dont understand this crybabys anymore. They said Open Beta SOON and it is SOON ! Soon means today, tommorow or in a year.
They never lied about the Open Beta, they never talked about a date, till now. Open Beta start at June and âWHENâ you want play before, you need to buy âFOUNDER PACKSâ.
IMC did nothing new, its the industry standard. Stop being selfish!
Beta are called beta because they are BETA which mean unifinished game to allow clean launches after. Making an early access to an open beta make no sense. The only thing that make sense is releasing the full version after the early access which is not what was announced at all before.
The game that will be launch after the early access will clearly be the non beta of the game and the march launch will be the beta.
Prove that IMC offered you this free unrestricted OBT (i.e. what you expected).

I like the idea of the founder packs. Why?
By paying you get something (early access and stuff) - nice
You help the devs backing costs for servers/datacenters so ALL of you can play later on (even the ones whining right now).
They can improve balancing and so on because they have mostly players willing to put some energy into the game - those early players will be much more likely to report bugs/help finding capacity limits and so on with their infrastructure.
those players whining about a price to pay still can play later for no cost. so just wait and stop complaining. The whole founder pack got delayed because of some people who donât want to pay (fine by me) and donât want to wait.

This is true. But many games nowadays have this very undefined line between release and open beta.
It is true that EA donât make much sense in a test envrionment (a.k.a why pay for an unfinished product). But if you look from IMCâs perspective, it might make sense.
I donât really know as well. But I have faith that IMC isnât a complete scam as they had previously developed titles before without shady tactics.
Wow this masterrace, they think work is something special, itâs just a normal thing, stop trying to be special you never are going to be. 
Thatâs why I keep saying they mislead users. They claim their OBT was coming soon. Then literally a week before the want to launch iToS, they bring up early access and planned to accept money the following day.
Itâs a F2P game. Itâs pretty fair to expect to be able to play in a timely fashion⌠for free. Three month head start? No wipes? Thatâs pretty pay to win.
They are stupid people don t try to argue with people like thatâŚ
Early access is still OBT. Itâs just not a free unrestricted OBT.
(Yea EA OBT donât make sense, and is not the usual model but they also never disclosed the payment model for their service)
try making a game/developing something then. guess what: if nobody pays you, it wonât be going wellâŚ

concerning your pay2win statement: from your perspective it is going into that direction. but hey, that game is no competition. You can play at your own pace, or do you have to race against somebody concerning levelling and progress?

Iâm a software developer, so I am very well versed in the development cycle as well as how payment works and what issues can arise. Iâm supposed to help the developers? They certainly didnât ask for my help. It looks like they hyped up an OBT then out of nowhere dropped a paywall which you need to climb or else you have to wait for three months. If iToS is confident enough in their game to make users pay for it, they obviously think itâs workable. So why the restriction? They want to work off the hype and make people pay, else they might have to wait months.
Also I could spend all my time in iToS sitting in town and chatting or I could try to hit max level and establish a strong PvP guild. Whatever I do does not change anything. Look at a game like Black Desert Online. It has a buy in and does not have a pay to win cash shop. I suppose iToS doesnât care about what itâs competitors are doing or what ever F2P player (their audience) wants.
So many fallacies in this argument that I wonât even bother listing them all. All I will say is:

80% of the playerbase. From what source did you acquire that stastic? Surely you do not believe that the couple of polls on reddits and the forums here are an accurate representation of the entire ToS playerbase. Donât pull numbers out of your bahooky without legitimate proof.
- Side Note: While I do not agree with the way that IMC has conducted this seemingly bait and switch tactic on ToS Fans (announcing an open beta and then presenting a paid closed beta), I also think that while fans who do not support the foundersâ server have a legitimate claim to make, a lot of you (note how I do not assume or claim a majority when I have no proof of the ratio) are being immature about it; letting your emotions cloud your judgment and degrading anyone who does not agree with you.

It isnât pay to win though, it gives them an unnatural head start and places em at the top of rankings without true competition but that isnât pay to win. Because any items they find, you can. Any dungeons they do, you can.
People talk like nobody will go to the founder server without realizing plenty of people WILL flock to it so that they can join a server with an actual economy and balance. Its really just a head start thatâs far too long but under their current lels model more people would get in with time at a cheaper rate anyways. Aint nobody got time fo that tho.
Scandia was MS first server and it had (while i played) the highest population, always, ever. People need to stop being salty and thinking of founders as their enemies when theyâre likely the ones paying for this game for youâŚYa we got in first but we didnât arrange this.

Balance? You think people will want to join a server where the powerhouses are already defined? Where world bosses are already successful camped? Where the top PvP guild is geared and continues to gear? Some might, true, but not everyone. Three months is an amazing head start. It puts you at an extreme disadvantage if you want to be a competitive new player.
Itâs not the F2P crowd joined afterwards on a whim. IMC is trying to force them to do, else they hand over some money. While true, Founders will be caught up with and even exceeded with hard work, but the advantage they have, the money, the levels, the sheer power on the market, the guilds⌠they paid for all of that.
IMC might as well remove the head start and just give Founders a few million silver, a max level character, a free guild and some top level gear. Maybe itâd be more obvious to you then.

they said that will announce the date of open beta and will be f2p (06/19 they have already set the date and yes is f2p)

3 months headstart ( it is a problem than pay is a Early Access and as a bonus you get TP + 2 cute hat things or 1 or none and will open new servers after the Open beta starts [06/19] so you will have a chance to begin from 0 with everybody else).
Im done with this.
