Honestly I do not have so many hardships with pet AI. You just have to know how to work around it. I admit that it’s not super comfy, but can be usable.
The rules basically are…coursing generally do not have many problems. It strikes what you target. Same for snatching and retrieve.
For Rush dog it’s another story, it will generally hit the closest target in the approximative direction of where you aimed. So mind if there’re mobs or traps in the way of the boss…it will generally hit those.
For all of the above, remember about the distances. You have to be close enough to the boss and at the same time close enough to the pet. If you hope that the pet listen to you while he’s far away, well…good luck. Same with target, don’t hope to be able to cast rush dog from the other side of the room. Those moves have a range too, after a bit you will get used to hit and pretty much never waste any skill.
Also…pet at begin is really weak. Both in atk and most of all resistance. Bosses at begin will pretty much oneshot it, but no big deal. Just try to get the timing of the atks, do not send your pet in when you see he’s about to do an AoE. So until it gets better (with levels and shitton of silver investement xD) play it carefully. And don’t try to skill when he’s stunned after dying obviously.
Pet isn’t that stupid (at least beside rush dog hitting the closest target instead of the aimed one, but that’s how the skill work…not much about pet AI). You practically manually control it, beside it’s auto atks, so it’s AI in the end amount to how well you can control it.
Main problem about the pet AI, that i encountered right now, is just when he sits down in one spot and stay there. And I do not mean with coursing…he just stands there. It’s a bit annoying, but just go to the pet window and turn it OFF/ON and it’s good to go.
I’m not saying it’s perfect, there’s room for big improvements for sure, but it’s not that much unmanageble.
