Archer/Ranger feels weak?

Lvl 52 archer (archer > ranger > ranger) and able to kill mobs at a decent rate but it just seems like swordsman of similar levels kill a lot faster.

Thoughts?

i’m level 65 now, archer circle 3.
Best skill to clear mob for archer is Multi-shot and oblique shot.
But Multi-shot need 2-3 second to charge, and in that time monster can hit you and stop your charge.
Oblique shot spam need so many SP, and still slow.
At early game, i think archer gonna be really weak, and being a bot or holding Z key when using kneel shot gonna be really public…

Couldn’t agree more. As long as they keep in the ability to AFK level though, I don’t see a problem. Archers in this game seem like they are meant to be PVP classes. I’m going for Black Rider and switching to Quarrel Shooter was a massive mistake as I couldn’t effectively hunt even with a +4 weapon with a +3 gem.

It’s rare I even see a monster weak to Stab damage, meanwhile my roommate just plows through everything headfirst as a Swordsmen without a care in the world and passed up my few days of leveling in a couple of hours. Made a Swordsmen myself and it vastly out-performed my Archer.

I always play archer in MMORPG game.
But Archer at early game in this game was so…

i play Fletcher on KR Server i still think Archer not a bad class to play if u like it but not good to play if u looking for high DPS

Well, at endgame, Archer is good.
But with this exp rate, early game of archer will be a nightmare.
Really hard to grind tho.
I’ve tried to spam SP on oblique shot and rest at bonfire then repeat.
But it’s too lame…

Yeah it was somewhat disappointing to see how reliant archer is on AA early on which definitely hampered my progress when grinding low lvl mobs.

Early archer is kind of a struggle, but archer classes get significantly better at rank 4. The only real weak archer right now is quarrel shooter (based on my cbt3 kr experience). I wouldn’t pick up kneeling shot at all if you’re going rank 2 or higher archer.

I really want a multi-shot skill without cooldown. :weary:

I wouldn’t mind a significantly cheaper Oblique Shot, honestly. Or, hell, even just an Attribute that reduces its SP cost by X% per Attribute level would help immensely. It could get expensive depending on how it’s implemented, but at least you’d be able to use it continuously, adding much needed consistent AoE-ishness to the Archer skill set.

That would be nice too.
Oblique just cost too much SP…

Aww, I’ve been really enjoying Kneeling Shot, and the idea of being able to pew pew any target on the screen if a swordsman lures it. If I go Archer Rk.3 Kneeling Shot 15, and boost high ATK/DEX, I was theorizing it may be one of the best sustain DPS against bosses. (To me, DPS means consistently bringing damage vs bosses, NOT burst damage, which requires SP). For the context above, what would you guess is an ideal archer build? (High sustain DPS).

I had gone 5/5/1/4 in my beta leveling because I wanted to see what Full Draw did, but the spell was so underwhelming I passed it altogether. Unless I misread the damage scaling, it seems a waste to invest in a disable that requires certain positioning, can only be used on multiple targets, and didn’t work consistently on monsters I tried to pin. If you were going for a more support/control style then I’m sure it fits, but for Beta purposes I needed to kill things, and Kneeling Shot does that much better (assuming you have a melee or two in the party to tank for you).

Archer>ranger.
Nice every time: early, late, pvp, pve, solo, party. Just get skills and nice bow/x.

I feel that you can build your Archer for STR (main), DEX (sub), and SPR (sub) which would allow you to spam those no CD skills early on while doing a decent amount of damage. Building a Kneeling Shot Archer is viable however you’d be giving up your attack skills (assuming you can use swift step along side kneeling shot) because Swift Step is too good of a skill to give up considering you are going to Circle 3 Archer in which Circle 2 has the attribute, increasing Critical Chance with Swift Step.

Seeing how Kneeling Shot doesn’t allow you to use skills while kneeling, it seems to be a rather awkward point to obtain such skills unless you are looking to burst down a target and use kneeling shot while everything is on CD in which case you CAN build towards the attack skills but you would probably have to sacrifice a really good skill for your class.

A build that is specifically built around sustained damage would possibly be Archer C3 > Wugushi C2 > Falconer C1
with skills built towards DoT (Wugushi) and debuffs on enemies (Falconer) while your main attacks would be auto attacking in Kneeling Shot.

Sustain isnt a problem late game, you have enough skills that dont use insane cooldowns to cycle, oblique > kneeling damage and you wont be spamming it anyway so you shouldnt oom before the boss dies. Kneeling shot is a problem because as an archer you will probably be attacked by something, on top of this a lot of groups will not have a peltasta since there is so many classes.

as ,long as your build has multi 15/oblique 10 its fine.

Well the thing is your ranged and warriors are melee. Warriors are more susceptible to damage compared to rangers. So they have to deal as much when they can. If you put this on a boss fight scenario, rangers tend to deal more damage than a warrior given that boss actually does something.

Yes indeed, archer is a lot better when killing boss but no place for him to stand when we talk about mobs, wiz aoe, swordman class and cleric class normal attack has aoe effect without any special skill, and you need good control with archer class. But i am still pretty sure fletcher is going to kick ass at the end.

How is the fletcher going on ? i would like to see

Did you try upgrading the attributes for Full Draw? I also took one point after checking them out. It ended up being a utility spell I’d use on high armored, slow moving targets like those in the Cathedral, for example.

The Attributes increase it knockback by a bunch and reduce defense. It was still rarely used, but it had its niche, at least for me.
