Archer/Ranger feels weak?

Problem with fulldraw is that linking mobs is a pain, and you cant link bosses with it - you have to link them to make it apply the defence down. I took the easier option and didn’t take it when the cbt let me reset. The fletcher skill is better in that way.

After watching Korean CBT its seems archer class are strong ass hell… Maybe people are here complaining because they progress very slowly with current balance curve?

Thanks for the informative replies everyone! It gives me a lot of food for thought, i’ll continue mulling over what style of play I’ll be leaning towards.

I feel with you, I really do. I tested Archer as well and the lvling was insanely slow. By the time I reached lvl20 with my Cleric/Swordsman/Wizard, I had reached lvl10 with my Archer.
The problem at early levels is that not a lot of mobs there are weak to stab and even if you find mobs weak to stab, their Pdef is typically very high.
So even if you find enemies weak to stab, the killing is still slower than for other classes.
And since most Clerics and Swordies go down a route where Hammer+Sword are the options, you don’t have a lot of people to team up with.

What you would have to do as Archer is to team up with other stab-users like Peltast and Wizards who have the element that your stab-farm monsters are weak against and then you could grind away like everyone else does. But there is little incentive for other people to do that, because even if you are a Peltast, lvling still goes faster if you just group up in a Slash+Hit area since you can still switch to sword weapon. And only one third of the Wizards will have the right element to fit your criteria and those might just decide to grind with the majority of people at the Slash+Hit locations.

I’m still pretty sure the grinding with Archer get’s considerably better later on. And think of it this way, what would you rather be forced to do, grind fast early on? And have problems later? Or the other way around?

Here’s a link I was using Kneeling, testing if it was viable for long-term killing, the group was too big in the end, but just seeing how EXP felt (against mobs a bit higher) for grinding.

my theory is that kneel you can pew pwe from range before mob gets grouped up, i dunno, a lot of what i’m spouting out is untested, theory.

That’s why I went Arch circle 2 and 3. You get much more out of Multi Shot and if you do a dex build you get pretty much 60-70% of crits.

[Oblique Shot] owns AND crits as well. It’s actually fairly cheap at lvl 1 compared to any other skill. only 10 sp.

I went ranger C1 before going hunter. Ranger was useless for me once I got hunter. I am going archer C2 for kneeling shot next.

Isn’t Multi Shot supposed to have an attribute that gives you SP back if you crit with it? That would basically be your SP pot if you have a high crit Archer build. (I read that attribute on a fan site)

I don’t think that’s accurate at all.

The attribute for sp recovery has been removed since kr cbt2. I think a lot of people are going to regret kneeling shot in later levels, as the instances will 2 shot players standing still and you cannot evade many magic monsters. On top of that, a rank 15 attribute capped kneeling shot just does very weak damage later on.

Oh so they removed the attribute that can give us mana in multi shot…

yeah , but Im getting kneeling for the early game. At late game I will probably have different skills that will replace it anyway. The problem with ranger is that I replaced his skills as soon as I changed classes , so he was very useless to me at that point ( too quickly).

We gonna have a skill reset so kneel shot in early game is ok
