[Archer] Mouse vs Keyboard? And skill hotkeys

I know it’s about preference. But what are the pros and cons of the two? I’ve played both but I’m mostly playing in mouse mode now.

I’m having trouble with skill hotkeys. I don’t know which keys I can press easily while moving with WASD and aiming with mouse. And it’s hard for me to move using left click and then aim to the target and use skill without stopping and it increases the risk of enemies getting near me.

And my experience in keyboard mode is that it’s hard to aim skills like Multishot at enemies that are constantly moving. It’s also hard to focus at a single enemy when the mobs are clustered together, like when I want to use Spiral Arrow on the magic type enemies to kill them first.

Which one are you using? And do you mind if you can share your keybindings?

I am currently using default mouse. But dam is it so glitchy, multi shot sometimes get cancel even though I stopped moving, so does rapid fire.

I am trying to go back to my standard FPS set up. Aim with mouse and move with wasd and skills around it. Moving with the mouse is so awful in this game with the combat, also I found numerous places that is COMPLETELY unplayable with mouse click movement.

So I think the best set up would be keep in mouse setting and change the movement keys to wasd. Makes strafing a lot easier.

Hello,
I´ll talk about how I use my binds:
Mouse Is very good to focus your enemy or change in a fast way using a skill in a hotkey.
I use AWSD for movement.
Buffs I use at the numbers 1 to 5.
Binds for attack I use Q, E ,R
F, C, V,
Alt+Q, Alt+1.
If I need more, I will put
X, B, G, Alt+ 2, Alt+3.

It´s important to say, that I use a lap top in ABNT (Brazilian).

Mouse.

Move with WASD, aim with mouse.
Bind your most used attack (oblique shot or normal attack) to space bar, it helps a lot.

I know that the topic is about mouse x keyboard, but i strongly recommend controls (ps4, xbox or others) to archers. The skills are easy to use and its easy to aim skills like multishot. Besides, u can just hold the AA button and move, much better than mouse system

Yee but sometimes it is hard to change target (ps3 pad) but ofc still gamepads r very good.

I don’t think this game was meant to move with mouse. It feels more natural with some type of wasd / direction pad for moving. But for archer ESPECIALLY AA builds having the ability to easily hover over a target and attack them is better then using a controller.

People tend to forget some of the skills actually don’t use the “ground” target system and just fires it at the current focused enemy.

It’s so hard for me to move in a southeast direction (S+D key) and spam my Heavy Shot (3 hotkey) at an enemy. Because when moving with WASD, you should always point your mouse at your enemy. Maybe I should just think of a better keybinding setup.

P.S. Some quests are unable to initiate when using mouse mode and must switch to keyboard mode.

If you set the controls into mouse mode (not auto) then you can actually hold left click after initially targeting a mob and still run around and auto fire. I tend to do that with my wizard while jumping around if I’m playing in mouse mode and it works just as well on archer.

I don’t know if that works the same on other peoples machines though, should give it a try anyway.

I do that too. The only thing I worry about is how can I smoothly use skills while moving with WASD.

I use mouse to play. I use mouse to move and select a target. I changed auto atack from Z to ’ so I can use 1 2 3 4 5 6 quicker. Also, I press Ctrl with my palm so I can acess Ctrl 1 Ctrl 2 Ctrl 3 and Ctrl 4 with easy. All other skill hotkeys I use with skills that I don’t use much.

I don’t use WASD I use the mouse to move and use WASD for my skills, i re-binded them in the options

Is it not hard to only move with mouse? How do you aim your skill without stopping your movement?

If u keep pressing autoattack hotkey the aim will be fixed at the target.

I use my arrow keys on the keyboard to move, got autoattack on W and jump on Q. The other keys are free for skills. Other than the regular letters within reach I also use shift modifiers.
