Archer Inquiries

After a long hiatus from ToS, I decided to come back and play a hybrid Inquisitor, but apparently hybrid clerics are in a bad spot right now.

I don’t know much about Archers, as I only played one up until QS, so I’m wondering what the most effective builds are. If I do go Archer, I want to be able to solo level easily and pvp/1v1 well and outplay anyone. Currently the only Archer classes I’m interested in is Schwarzer Reiter and Appraiser, with the latter not even released yet, although I’m wondering if people are theory building with the very little info that has been released on it.

Overall, I’m just looking for insight.

A2-R3-SR3
Archer 2 for the +25% crit attribute of Swift Step
Ranger 3 for Spiral Arrow on PVP
SR 3 for mobbing PVE

ToS is hardcore rock-paper-scissors.

There’s not one build that beats everything else. Each build will always get a counter.

The only time that you are guaranteed a win is with a proper party that “outpicks” the enemy team’s lineup.

SR, popularly known for having the best sustained DPS and being most wanted in end-game parties as main DPS, is also viable in PVP especially in 5v5 TBL and GvG. It’s going to be gear dependent though and survival will depend on party/enemy composition though you can kite if you have QS3 in your build.

What are the pros and cons of going QS3 instead of Ranger3? Are there any other paths to SR that are better? And what in QS3’s kit allows SR to kite better than the other pre-SR classes?

Pros:
Qs3
-low sp cost
-some utility
-focus on autoattack (running shot)

Ranger3
-better aoe
-barrage+feint combo (feint wiill dismount u, though)
-easier leveling until rank 4
-focus on skill spamming (steady aim)

Cons:
Qs3
-single target focused
-weapon restriction (grand cross+dagger+cafrisun, or something like that)
-scater catdrops wont work on flying monsters

  • ping dependent

Ranger3
-sp consuptiom
-nerfed version of steady aim on iTos
-lack of utility

There is more, probably, but i really need to sleep right now.

We no longer have the “nerfed” version of steady aim. Now it’s the “official” one

I’ve also seen Wugu SRs and Fletcher SRs who do really good on single target and mobbing. Adding Rogue instead of A2 is also an alternative.

Also, scatter caltrops not working on flying mobs is not a cons since that’s not how QSs deal with them. You can cast running shot and switch to a bow to deal with flyings.

I don’t really know what to recommend for someone who never played the class because the 3 people to whom I recommended SR ended up rerolling them because they hated it. How would you like to play with it?

Well I’m not sure, since I don’t know much detail about my options. I want effective pvp and dueling, be able to grind solo fairly efficiently, and be set for when Appraiser comes out. Apparently SR has a lot of mobility on mount, so I want to use that as well.

my plan for the first class path is A2>QS3>Scout>Musk…

but i’ve changed my mind and went to A2>QS3>SR1 … going SR2

im happy? yes… but i envied those who can snipe me to death on PVP.

But then again im happy dealing AOE! <3

the cannons get it easier  you should really envy those ones.
SR is a great class btw.

haha hvnt researched about cannon yet but i guess i dun like my loli holding a big bazooka :3

Seems cannoneer may be for you.

I’m doing a ranger3>rogue>scout>musketeer for the gameplay style, so… thats right, pick what makes you happy first then build around it.

How does Cannoneer suit my needs more than SR and the other Archer classes?

Cannoneer is better for pvp(manly because scout cloaking) and do well enough with their aoe for pve. And if you want single target for bosses, qs3>rogue combo can get you top1 even if it isnt your focus.

Btw, cannoneer has utility and aoe, so it wont be wasted if another class does more damage later on.

What’s scout cloaking? And top1 as in leaderboards?

Cloaking skill from scout and top 1 as in top damage dealer on boss fights, though we have a cannoneer in the top 10 tbl on my server too, just behind a fletcher, so… It is very much possible.
