Anyone else find the story athmosphere really "dark"?

If it’s not too much to ask, can you summarize Ruklys and Lydia story? I know about their relationship, but I didn’t get what motivated him to make the revolution and why Lydia need to killed him.

Hey, it’s fine! I’m happy to know you’re into the lore too.

Spoilers from the main story

Based from what I understood (correct me if I’m wrong),

  • Goddess Laima entrusted Ruklys with the Revelation.

  • Premier Eminent ordered Ruklys and his team to assault a town or something that turned out to be Lydia Schaffen’s hometown.

  • Some time after that, Premier Eminent branded Ruklys and his followers as rebels and traitors. (Rebellion starts here)

  • Lydia Schaffen sides with Premier Eminent and has to kill Ruklys for the ‘crimes’ he committed.

  • Ruklys said he was prepared to die by the hands of the one he loved.

  • Lydia Schaffen kills Ruklys in 1 arrow. (Killed him because Lydia knew nothing (seeing him as a rebel and probably got contracted by Eminent) and the fact Ruklys destroyed her hometown)

  • Diary from the soldiers state that Premier Eminent is allied with the demons and is using them.

  • Fortress Battleground shows that Premier Eminent was a demon all along and is trying to get the Revelation from Ruklys.

  • Lydia Schaffen left and is filled with regrets.

  • The Petrifying Frost that was the “curse” of Roxona isn’t because of the revolution, but because of Gesti which is obviously a demon.

  • Tombrobber Amanda concludes that Ruklys is a poor man who was killed by the ones he loved.

I think Lydia was contracted to kill him cause she was the best archer and she accepted even though she then reveals that she liked Ruklys…

if you ask me am more amaze by the story of Rumpelstiltskin and how he got fulled into riding an arrow to the moon, but the arrow was rigged so that it would slowly disintegrate when in contact with his magic xD

Wow, thank you so much @Jew-chan nd @DrRM. And how Lydia discovered the truth? She concluded that he was being manipulated after killed him?

About Curse of Roxona, I remember when Kupole Meile told me about Giltine was the responsible. Unfortunately she no longer talks about the lore =/

Edit: who the Old Manager was? Premier Eminent or just a soldier demon?

Unfortunately it wasn’t stated. I believe she was just sad because she and Ruklys were lovers. Even Lydia’s pot in Fedimian only says

Ruklys… I’m sorry.

The curse in Roxona was Gesti if I remember correctly, not Giltine because I remember being surprised that Gesti was mentioned again and being the cause of the Petrifying Frost (presumably as ordered by Giltine).

I believe that Old Manager is Premier Eminent himself. It’s backed up that the fact he was using demons against Ruklys 500 years ago and he wants the revelation badly. He also states when you kill him that all what he has done for 500 years was just stopped by a lowly human.

Thank you again, but now I’m in doubt, because I’m pretty sure she told me “Giltine” =X

Someone can confirm?

If no one else confirms, I will try to check it again on one of my alts. Still a long way though but I will!

Looking forward to find one for Maven and more on Agailla Flurry who somehow burst into flames and turn into ashes in her room .__.

Anyhow, to add another thing on the topic, another sad/dark atmosphere of this game is with that quest in Vedas Plateau with that Necromancer Faustas experimenting on human corpses and killing all the soldiers. Well I don’t blame him… the soldiers did kill the Cryomancer, which is his lover. Even the Cryomancer’s diary says she’ll try helping out the soldiers because of the cold but they killed her for reasons unknown :sob:

Please make an official Lore thread

No, see the thing is, it brings up a lot of
questions because the Orsha revelators don’t get any slates as far as Fedimian. Like:

• Do they get a new collection, or even get a revelation at Mage Tower? (provided they do none of the Klaipeda quests - even sides)

• Are they really revelators since they don’t get the slates, like at all?

• Does the Goddess Orb count as a revelation or not?

While we don’t have one (and probably never will until they somehow add spoiler tag features), we have a wiki on it, although it’s still under development between me, ZeroTigress, and some other person I don’t know.

ToSBase deals with the meta, we deal with the lore. As of right now I’m trying to work on readable objects and character info. To add would be Dionys and Hauberk…I’ll get to the other demon lords and royalty…eventually.

Pretty sure Agailla turns into Grita, especially considering the typical story of the latter.

I think there was that book on Lydia that she started her adventuring life to seek revenge for her parents.

Then another volume mentions that when she finally tracked down and sniped her target, she recognizes them as Ruklys’ subordinate, and that she and him are going to become enemy because of what she did.

So I think the two were very much in love, but not quite lover, and tragically they could not be (coughRomeoJulietcough)

Since doing the Klaipeda side of things is a pain(tenet church is just full of people regardless of the time of day on Varena .3.), I’ve progressed on Orsha’s quite a bit instead. And… yeah, noticed that quite a bit of the people you help just end up dead or in a critical condition. Also noticed the frequency of you helping spirits along the way. Is Klaipeda’s line as dark as Orsha’s?

Also, just recently got to the part where you help the scouts on Feretory Hills(been going back on missed quests, since I rushed Mage Tower a bit too fast on my ele) and I wished I had Meteor already when the werewolf just swiped the dying scout away.

Hello guys, Does anybody know what happen to Legwyn Family? I’m really curious abt them but I miss the story

If I remember well, the father/head of family found a poor and starving girl and brought her to the mansion. The family servants suspected something about her and a few days later she brought a kind of curse, demons etc. which killed everybody, except for the daughter who managed to escape. She is [SPOILER]: The Squire Master, Justina Legwyn.

Sorry for my english, but that’s what I understood from the books and Mochia Forest side-quests.

I don’t know the real identity of the poor girl and what she did had a purpose.

that reminds me of the little girl in orsha that the demons want to capture and she slowly guides you to the goddess…

It’s literally the same girl. You find her at the mines, at the ravine, at the rainforest, in the legend about the shepherd boy, the story of the legwyn family’s fall, etc. She has healing powers that are impossible for ordinary humans, can drive demons away, and all that jazz.

@Jew-chan nice pictures, mind if I archive them in the wiki for future articles?

I made a topic similar to this on Gameplay Feedback. The story is indeed very bleak throughout ToS’s world and npcs. In fact, ever since my playthrough in CBT and after they added the Orsha leveling path, they improved the quests and story a fair bit, but compared to the Klaipeda path, you lose out on several stat points and good early game items.

Tl;dr ver: Orsha path - story/quests better, less rewards. Klai path - BORING, but more rewards and stat points.

However, along with the grind, the NPCs are pretty boring. I doubt you can change the story’s theme so much if we had more expressive(or even less useless escort NPCs - I’m looking at you Grita. >.>), unpredictable even NPCs.

Ah, yes go ahead. I don’t see anything wrong with that since it was also posted in inven.co.kr I got the thumbnails from here and the full resolution is there as well.
