Anyone else find the story athmosphere really "dark"?

People die left and right too, betrayal and lies every corner
It’s actually a rather dark story, just because the presentation is kinda plain, monotone and boring so most people don’t bother read it

I assumed it was dark from the get-go, because of the Goddesses going missing in the first place. From what I’ve read in the early stages of the main storyline, “Medzio Diena” was a pretty traumatic time for a lot of people, and I’d be willing to bet it was borderline apocalyptic.

After dinking around on my piano, I accidentally played something that I felt I could turn into a bass line and melody to form a song that I imagined could overlay the scenes of Medzio Diena: buildings being destroyed by the roots of the great tree, people running for their lives with demons in tow, orphaned children crying out for lost parents, and Giltine’s laughter on the wind.

…But maybe I’m overthinking it a little bit.

I will always remember the wounded archer I was escorting to safety, just to have the giant werewolf smash and kill her almost at the end of the road :sob:

or the time curiosity killed the epigraphist

Try reading the Starving Demon’s Way quests.
They’re approaching Silent Hill territory (dem feeding habits) ¬_¬

I was kinda rush leveling so I didn’t bother reading the quest. : <

Go to Sutatis Trade Route and do the questline there.

Enjoy your Haubro.

On topic: It’s a story about people trying to survive after a pretty large disaster (Mezo Diena) and worse things after (demons)

And you appear at what is probably the bleakest of time to bring hope back to the world, rescuing the goddesses who already lost much of their power (especially Laima) and defeating demons along your way.

You are basically heading towards the ground zero of this, towards the thing that caused Mezo Diena.

You mean the quest line that’s all about offering more food to the 2 NPCs to snarf up then turn into horrible demons?

As far as I remember, quest goes like this:
“Please, I’m so hungry. Can you get me the meat of [x monster]?”
“Oh that was delicious but I’m still hungry, can you bring me meat of [x monster]?”
“Oh that was delicious but I’m still hungry, can you bring me meat of [x monster]?”
“Oh that was delicious but I’m still hungry, can you bring me meat of [x monster]?”
“Oh that was delicious but I’m still hungry, can you bring me meat of [x monster]?”
Transforms into horrible flesh eating demon.
Boss fight ensues.

Actually, there are 3 NPCs who ask you to feed them some nice, rotten and rancid demon flesh (have you looked at the color of that meat during the quest?).

A girl (who turns into a monster and get killed by you), her lover/friend who turns into a monster and can be beaten into submission and another fella who urges you to feed the demons with something that comes from a lumbering pile of decomposing meat. I think he wanted to make his child to throw up, too. All nice and cozy, eh?

Aw there was a third one. I need to go back.

quite disturbing lol

Has anyone else here read the Research Records of Demetrius? i talk about it a lot but it honestly, to me, has the most interesting bit of the whole situation.

Click on the spoiler tag to read a part of it.

Research Records of Demetrius [SPOILERS] So basically, humans, demons, and goddesses lived together. as in on a sort of equal ground. Even better, the goddesses willfully wiped this memory, and it's implied that this is in order to keep their divine status among humans.

I don’t think the goddesses are necessarily evil, but this explains how strangely powerless they are. Also, this is personal opinion, but I can’t really find a story dark if it lacks like. depth, HAHA. I mean this game is pretty new and translations need to be smoothed out and everything but nothing really makes you go “oooh my god I see” you know? Like there needs to be some level of fridge horror for something to be dark beyond shock value.

I wish translators were given more freedom to rearrange text. All the line breaks and spacing is following how it is in the KR version and it makes it very awkward and clunky to read.

It probably won’ reach that level of ‘horrify’ dark but more like post-apocalypse world dark, although unlike Fallout where the world falls into anarchy, the presence of demons help unite the survivors against the bigger threat.

At a certain point he says he wished to create a world where humans and demons could live together. I’ve loved him since I first saw him on the Orsha quest line, where we helped him gather the pieces of his souls.

At some point near the end he says that we were deceived too and I’m yet to understand what he meant, was it because we were forced to chase him? Or did he mean that at some point we will realize the goddesses were deceiving us?

soon there will be a Cthulhu entity like in bloodbourne…

cept with more bewbs and more tentacles

Has anyone actually tried the Orsha questline first than Klaipeda? Without intersecting with the Klaipeda route at least until after Mage Tower?

there is no point but kind of yes…

Orsha feels like it is the actual start of your story…

why you ask…

simple, in klai you just wake up and go to the people and say “hey am a revelator” and everyone believes you and ask you do do stuff…

but in orsha… nope… in orsha as soon as you mention that you might be a revelator the first thing they say is “prove it” and you have to prove it through most of orsha quests…

This is some Monster Girl Quest plot right here if Hauberk was right. pleasedontkillmeladiescanplayittooyaknowforthestory

In any case, I’ve been wanting to see a thread all about the lore and stuff of this game since I’m one of those people into lore (link me please if there’s any thread . The story of Roxona, Ruklys and Lydia Schaffen is one but oh well.

I’ve only done the story quests so far up to Fortress Battlegrounds with that crazy old NPC. I’ve checked the new kToS patch notes and saw 3 new NPC portraits added but two noteworthy ones. Would this mean more quests then?

This one is Vibora. Yes, the ones from Wings of Vibora, which I think is backed up further by that book of hers and Lena saying “they follow the will of Vibora and record all that is in this world”

And Dalia, another goddess of fate like Laima. Edit: I just noticed her eyes are closed too and is crying like Laima!

I wonder how will they appear in game? Hopefully not with tentacles as you guys speak :open_mouth:

If it’s not too much to ask, can you summarize Ruklys and Lydia story? I know about their relationship, but I didn’t get what motivated him to make the revolution and why Lydia need to killed him.
