Closers seem a little generic…we need more innovation in the MMO sector
From someone whos held an FFXIV account since its original launch I can tell you its great to meh depending on you. What I mean is, myself, I am OCD, when the FFXIV week starts I end up capping all weekly scrips and tomes etc and all my raids etc etc by day 2, I then spend the next 5 days watching paint dry, I basically do misc. daily quests and craft or gather. If you are more of a casual player and can spread things out over the entire week you will prolly be on the great end of the spectrum.
depends on people’s taste I guess
some people like those hack and slash moarpg
some dont
After my cube rested in peace I just downloaded the free trial, going to give it a shot.
Tree of forums is the best MMO tho.
not in this year now
not in this time when making a mobile game will top ur profits quicker than pouring a glass of water
many MMO become some short sight, launch and let it die game
and it is not racist or anything, be Korean game usually have same issue, class balance, RNG, and grindy
till now the only MMO i really enjoy would be Fantasy Earth Zero, a true free to play game until they introduce some cash enhancement sadly, it was perfect balance in PVP, it wasnt a game that u have to keep getting online like going to work
if u ask me 2017, eastern type MMO top fews probably still be FFXIV, black desert…etc
FFXIV overall is nice, big update every 3 months, nice graphic, good endgame PVE stuff, class balance is not perfect but high standard good, 1 character can train all class, so u dont have to make tons of alt
but it suffer from subscription, subscription alone is not a big issue, but you have a weekly cap and daily cap for equipment grind, and equipment progression is always 1 step at a time, and it is essential for higher content
economic a also badly broken, but not such a big problem if u are just causal player, and i found the main story not that interesting tbh (blame Bioware) especially FFXIV is a PVE focus game
Black Desert is another hot topic, unlike FFXIV, Black Desert come form Korean
it have huge freedom on character customization, it is also a sandbox type MMO, unlike traditional point and click combat system, it have a more action base combat system, and there are many things to do other than just killing mob in game
however, i found the storyline lacking, typical Korean MMO issue such as grindy and skimpy armor, lack of any PVE dungeon is one of the biggest draw back for me, although it have world boss hunt, in terms of PVP, it is the worst grinding hell, equipment enhancement is a nightmare, it is worse than TBL, if u want to be competitive, u grind like a dog, and if u dont have alot of free time, you better stay away from PVP, yet, to make matter worse, force PVP is an option in game, even though the consequence is not cheap, it is not every newbie friendly
to conclude, FFXIV is PVE focus mostly causal gaming experience, but require your monthly subscription which the developer is ok in managing their game, it still have some more difficult raid require good timing of skill us, proper skill rotation and positioning, but overall it is a traditional MMORPG
Black Desert on the other hand is a PVP focus, “Hard-core by extremely grindy” type of game, if you looking some experience making friends and going to dungeon, it is not for you
Finally, I have a love and hate feeling toward GW2
love is the unique PVE and interesting storyline with good voice act, good balance in PVE, PVP and WVW
hate is such a good game ruin by the “Meta” disease, 99.9% dungeon party you will find meta only, try to make your own non meta party, hardly get a full team which would not mind exploring with you, may be a good guild would help, WVW is also ruin by Eotm train, EOTM could be a causal WVW but it end it is ruin by the player base
these 3 MMOs would be the only MMO i recommend atm
■■■■ that game, all data of EU servers got lost after data migration and I literally lost everything I had.
Try mobile games if you have one
Didn’t they give out a compensation for this?
I’ve heard it was like, a complete BDN-L set (for non DN peeps this is equivalent to Lolopanther and/or Solmiki) and enough gold to actually upgrade them.
Although it was said that old accounts who didn’t login for a time will not get it anymore, so GGWP to them
These games don’t fit the bill, but they are certainly worth keeping your eyes on.
Lost Ark
Dark and Light
Crowfall
Dark and Light especially has my interest at the moment. The money I had intended to spend on TOS to make a return to the game is now going to be held out for the new line of Ryzen for a VR rig, because Dark and Light boasts an MMO experience with a feel and visual quality of a fully modded Skyrim, including optional first-person perspective…but with VR support as well. Check out some of the articles on it—Sandbox MMO, zero quests, crafting and building anywhere, housing, the largest MMO world ever conceived with over 15,000 square miles of terrain (would be like walking over the entire country of Switzerland by foot as it shares a similar square mileage), jaw-dropping graphics, VR, Survival with elements such as hunger and cold etc., the ability to tame and shapeshift…the list goes on forever.
ToS might have it’s fair share of problems, but tbh I don’t think it matters what you play. You’re still going to encounter problems with any game. There isn’t a game out there that’s prefect. You’ll be complaining about x, y, and z on another game just like people do here. So I guess what I’m trying to say is… Deal with it? Idk.
Go play maplestory… Hue. Jk.
Most anime rpg’s are either old af or unreleased. Good luck on your search.
Thanks for sharing Dark and Light here, the game looks amazing and everything I read about it seems very promising. I hope that game lives up to its promises, really looking forward to it!
Yes but all the rare cash shop stuff that will never return is lost.
I had this full set in red on my warden. Now all lost.
Well yeah while ToS getting a lot of hate, I surprisingly enjoy ToS at most when you can choose how to level (dungeon+quest) and not forced to buy gachas…
Siaulai is free to enter and get extra run with token. Blessed shard is daily instance drop. I’m getting salty when playing iRO or mobile RPG and need to pay to access similar features (Blessed shard wanna be is basically gacha’s junk and no other way to obtain)… You will be surprised that ToS tokenless is basically premium iRO/other game minus trading+market stuff…
I’m not white knight and complaining ToS before people accusing me
Oh my god, i didn’t know it was that severe. No compensation for lost costumes? I’d probably rage-quit too if this happens to me
I don’t know about this game, buy while looking for Au Ra race photos from FFXIV I found a screenshot of Aura kingdom, haven’t tried it and either did a research so I don’t know if it’s good, bad, dead or p2w.
All I know is that this game is a MMORPG and this style looks great, if anyone knows anything I would like to hear a review.
I didn’t play the game much since I got bored really fast. Sure it looked great but so many things you do in the game can be automated like walking to a quest location etc. It was extremely boring to me. Combat was regular click targeting and it didn’t really bring anything new or fun to me compared to other MMO’s.
If this doesn’t sound too bad to you try it out.
MapleStory 2 if no one mentioned it.
Other than that, still waiting for Peria Chronicles.
I’ve been following this game for a while back when it was previously known as Project NT. Here’s a G-Star 2012 trailer that got me hyped for this game years ago.
Here’s the official youtube that hasn’t been updated in a long while. It has some neat gameplays and trailers. Note that they’re years old, but it’s worth watching them all to see all the sandbox features and stuff.
Here’s a translated status update a few months before G-Star 2016.
G-Star 2016 trailer
and gameplay. Doesn’t show as much as the youtube channel.
i saw the game gameplay video, it looks fun. But not sure when it will be coming out.
Interesting! Dark and Light definitely in my watch-list now. I am also waiting for Star Citizen…
Yes Aura Kingdom looks very interesting anime-like… But that game has like less than a thousand players online in steam which worries me.
Would like to hear from people who have played AK before too.
