The problem with that is how can you tell who got a key buying it and who got it from someone with a spare one. Just now they told everyone to share their extra keys with relatives or friends, you gonna bam them too?
A real solution would be make the registration button unlimited. That way imc could give beta keys, idk, one time a week, and there would not be a need for anyone to buy keys.
That would solve everything. And that would truly test their servers if thats what they are trying to do. How can you test your servers when you arent letting everyone play? if they wanted everyone to play there wouldnt even be a need to give a 3 day registration period. they would just let everyone play. they knew everyone wouldnāt make it in due to various reasons. they say unlimited testers, but its really not unlimited when you have to give out keys for people to play. just let everyone play if you want everyone to play.
Well this is a closed beta, if they wanted everyone to test it would be an open beta, which im sure we will have.
Easy ban as long as IMC contacts steam and have that guyās key for ToS in his own personal account banned
@kaintos1 easy to say but hard to do dude. This whole situation was totally unexpected by them and that even if they have recovered personally on their manpower, their technical and logistics side of things may have been totally unprepared for this. So all in all, going with that decision at hand will cause a disaster and no meaningful test would be executed at hand along with the results that they need. They planned it to be a closed beta for a reason and this very reason right above could be that.
what you talkin about easy ban? you have no understanding at all. i told him he could not sell, and he understood. but you seem to be happy at having someone banned without telling him what he has to do to correct it. whats wrong with you? are all the community like this? all you have to do is tell they guy he couldnt sell keys. why are you so happy about other people being misfortunes? you probably posted on that other thread bashing people who registered and didnt get their key yet telling them they donāt deserve one, like i see so many others. the community is getting worse and worse, you are selfish, and the community is getting selfish.
on the topic of the beta, they said there was no limit to people who could play, and they call this a closed beta? its not really a closed beta.
Please do analyze my post before raging ok? The first half of my post was intended for ciagoaway as the reply was pointed to him. The second part is intended for you so I put that tag there just so you would know.
Itās not that I am happy to see other people suffer but without implementing and being strict on the guidelines as is will make people abuse things that go against these guidelines because of lax implementation or should I say, āhaving no single wordā like those people who just scold people and canāt appropriately give punishment to those who did wrong.
Iām like this because I was once a leader of an international guild in an mmo rpg game and that my lax leadership and execution of punishments for those who did wrong led to chaos and disorder. Because of that I realized what needs to be changed and that some people wonāt really learn until you teach them a lesson. I hope you understand, but if not, Iām pretty sure you will understand someday somehow.
All im saying is the guy didnāt know that he couldnt sell his extra key. i told him so he changed his post. I didnāt even know that you couldnt sell the keys, mainly because i donāt read everything they post. the last thing i read was before the 19th and there was nothing about selling the keys until the 22th i beleive. im pretty sure a lot of keys were sold between the 20th and the 22th and people didnāt know.
it was the 21st. even then plenty of people dont read every little thing that gets posted. so it got skipped. im sure a lot of people still donāt know.
Yep thatās why not reading is a disaster
But Iām pretty sure IMC did this so that they would most likely get testers who are actually able to test for them and give them results for improving the game. I hope you understand that sentiment.
Because if they explained everything through a convenient video of some sort or something similar, then they would get a huge bunch of people who wouldnāt even bother posting bugs here or at least able to read and use functions of the beta client that allow one to report bugs and/or improve the game. So yeah, everything that IMC has done so far really makes sense and that as a game developer that are consisted of people, they also make mistakes so we should also try to understand their position as well.
Ima have to disagree on you about the everything they did so far makes sense part. but i understand their positioning also. to be honest i think they are wasting their time worrying about beta keys, when there are other things to worry about. As long as they send them out to everybody that applied then they are getting the testers they wanted correct? so i think this is a waste of time for them.plenty of other people missed their chance to help test the game, that, is where the problem lies. unless they donāt really want too many testers. but then again they did say it was unlimited, which means they accepts everyone, by not really accepting everyone. thats where it doesnt make sense at.
They based their decision on the data from their iCBT1. They totally did not expect it to boom just with a few gameplay videos in youtube or so which is why they took that risky decision of letting an unlimited amount of registrants.
Also, on the logistics side of things, Iām pretty sure that when they made the announcement for the iCBT2, they only prepared for a handful of servers that are only able to handle around a maximum of 3 to 4 times the size of registrants in iCBT1. With the sudden surge of registrants, thereās a high possibility that they had to prepare an additional server or so which added to their busy schedule of preparing things and unable to properly give response to the troubled people who came to this forum.
Not everything can be prepared properly even if they did prepare countermeasures for unexpected events of a specific scale. This scale on iCBT2 however, was probably out of their calculations and expected possibilities. We donāt know if they have an incident management section backing them as well on this situation so right now, all we can do is accept the current situation at hand and wait for whether their decisions would be set in stone or if there will be additional keys to be given away during the beta test duration just like back in iCBT1.
One solution for this problem. Make the game Open Beta status next month!
The reason cause theyāre doing a closed beta isnāt primarily cause they donāt have more servers, itās cause right now the game has a lot of changes on the road and they cant keep the character data to an official release (for those who havenāt played many betas on closed they allways have a wipe ok transition to open beta but not from open to full release).
