An Intermediate Guide to Clerics

Okay so one more question for those physical damage clerics out there: Without having Paladin in your build, would you recommend against 2-Handed Maces? I dont see much difference with using a 1hand + shield/dagger or a 2handed mace. Im currently using a +11 Skull Breaker and was wondering if I should continue investing in it or start saving for 1handed maces and a decent offhand.

Two handed maces seem nice with having 5 sockets at level 350, but the potential on them seems moderately low compared to splitting the 3 sockets on main hand and 3 sockets on off hand

Just masinios 2-Handed mace is worth for paladin due to +2 AoE attack ratio, great STR & DEX stats. I use 2-handed mace for 5x blue gem socket slots on magic cleric. If you cannot get 2-handed masinios, a 1-handed + off-hand with great stats is fine too. Put 3x red gem into off-hand.

Mostly I’m just curious for physical builds that do not use paladin. I’m a monk-zealot and am struggling to understand why a 2hand would be worth it considering the small difference in physical attack.

Why do you recommend red gems on offhands? I could understand putting red gems on un-anvil’d weapons, but wouldn’t crit rate from green gems be more beneficial on higher-tier weapons?

Zealot skills do not need AoE attack ratio. The small difference increases if you trans it more, however a one-handed + off-hand could beat it if you get very good stats +STR, +DEX, +phys atk, +crit atk (…), and red gems. I recommend red in off-hand if your crit rate is already high. If it is low, you could consider greens. If you are full-dex, you should make sure to have a high crit rate.

Crit formula = (character crit rate - enemy crit def) ^ 0.6
Consider already high crit rate, example 700.
700^0.6 = 50%.
Increase it a bit with 3x off-hand 6 star green gem (42 crit rate each).
826^0.6 = 56%.
Your crit increased by 6%.

Consider low crit rate of 100.
100^0.6 = 15%.
Increase with 3x off-hand green gems 6 star.
226^0.6 = 25%.
Increase of 10% crit.

Whether green is worth, is for you to decide.

Friend wants a deivdirbys build. Loves the thought of carving statues during a fight lol. I am pushing the deiv//plague dr//miko build anyone got any other build ideals?

Moving from Cleric DPS builds , I read some posts from this thread and watched some youtube videos to see from iTOS and kTOS some best DPS builds available. In other words, I think it worth to put in comparison the best builds for Clerics not that there is one that everybody will agree it is the best, but find some different ideas that maybe kTOS is using more for some good reasons that could help some players or we could find the best boss killer build and so on.

One of the strongest DPS build that I saw for cleric was https://youtu.be/mQ7Fw5W61a4 Cleric-Priest3-Chaplain-Krivis3-Inquisitor https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#41222c333g.152535.1f213345516a9a.1545.1f3f5a65.657585 . I thought it would be a nice example as it does 250k of damage per second against a challenge level 7 boss . I saw similar build doing solo Raid, which is something that is cool as sometimes the server is empty and that could be bit fun and could be one of the points we could see it does a pretty good damage.

@Wolfy made awesome job in in https://youtu.be/YQ_yvQzjDmI , around 100k damage with druid 3 build. The advantage of this build is Druid transformation (which hopeful will be better) and the benefit that it have tons of HP and could get better DPS with someone with support role in the party (as the other build does already some buff on itself).

That chaplainkrivis AA video has 7.5k magic attack, with that amount of matk and gear I’m sure there are plenty of options to choose from too, from PD3s to BokorKabbalists.

So far the strongest burst video I’ve seen with really high matk (around 8k matk iirc) is Bokor3 Kabbalist3 hitting around 7m damage in around 20secs.

This is also relative to gear and funding available to the build and the kind of dps you are aiming for.

Single target, aoe, farming, sustained single target dps, burst single target dps, etc.

Cleric-Priest3-Chaplain-Krivis3-Inquisitor its good when monsters have aggro, so you dont have to walk to every one of them. They are a nice CM build.

@Nekorin

That burst doesnt work when you have more than 1 person hitting the monster, right? So thats a negative of it i guess.

Yep, one of the shortcomings for AA Chaplain Inquisitor builds is that melee attacks from your party mates also eat up Breaking Wheel hits too. If a shinobi is dpsing along with the wheel, the cleric can barely get in 3-4 autos before it is gone. The ChaplainKrivis is primarily a soloist style of AA cleric in this regard. For a more party based AA cleric, KrivisSadhu variant fits the bill better as they are able to fit in cleric2 into their AA build and have a spell caster fall back in situations where auto attacking isn’t favorable.

Another point to consider for DPS builds is the reach of the attacks. Meta AA builds excel primarily at melee/near range, with an occasional wide range AOE every 50secs (breaking wheel). Plague Doctors, while they don’t give high impressive damage per sec numbers like AA clerics during boss 1v1 showdowns, are able to out dps AA clerics in a 1 vs swarm situation with their DoT spread.

Edit:
@Kannushi Another point for the chaplain video. The video is dated 18 Dec, at that point in time the Daino x Breaking Wheel patch isn’t implemented yet. IMC has sort of “fixed” the Daino x Breaking wheel on the 26th Dec, hence burst dps with wheel now should be around 60~ish% of the damage dealt in the video.

WTF I have 600 spr +11 skull smasher trans 2 and my owl only does 11k damage max sometimes it is like bugged and does way less.
Wtf he does 24k with owl

I read that one of the latest patch in kTOS would change the BW, which would not break anymore, have you guys saw that in the notice board ? would you guys liek that i get the link of it?

You mean the @Wolfy 's video right? I thought that too, awesome isnt it. Also, @Wolfy , I saw you testing Owls with Stone + Gem + Divine, I think you missed the Miko’s Bloom skill, ddint you?

Here are the changes for Breaking Wheel, translated by Gwenyth.
Breaking wheel still has a cap limit of 15 hits.

Sounds pretty nice, probably the most powerful . It might be very powerful against world/raid bosses . Would it be full int due the matk , right?

Correct me if I got it wrong but the source of dmg made would the zombies with waggons. I mean, I played very little with Bokor and Kabba, maybe a missed sth.

About the PD, I think it is a CC and support build like before r9 doing debuffs. Do you think it could do hundreds of thousands of damage like those other builds? Which build would you suggest for that?

My humble opinion around PD is that could be nice with the new card that could freeze enemies , but the debuff damage is not so high as it was in the release of r8 . I think sometimes that other DPS builds in a team with PD would kill so fast that PD would not be helpful against mobs, just a small help against bosses.

Thanks @Nekorin for the pastebin. Seems both were right but in case Extra Damage is active, only 15 attacks could be landed, what a pity . Do you think it worth to turn that off? Is the attribute mentioned the one that debuffs Burn status?

The Breaking Wheel will now continue to attack regardless of the number of strikes it lands for the duration it is summoned for. The [Breaking Wheel: Extra Damage] Attribute has been changed so that the damage splash effect only applies on up to 15 hits done to the Breaking Wheel.

Bokor3 Kabbalist3 isn’t good for WB at all. It is also a soloist build too, and excels primarily at farming, imo it should be the build that farms the fastest due to bokor3 (maybe with the exception of bokor3 pd3 )

The build burst for farming centers around Damballa + Gevurah (coupled with Kabbalist’s C3 +20% matk bonus). Burst for bosses is Hexing + Effigy + Double Chance on the 3rd hit.

What plague doctor excels is in the reach its skills. It is easy for them to get the whole screen of monsters down with their DoTs, unlike other cleric builds where they need to spend time to gather and group the monsters together. You will not see fountains of numbers, but you will see a lot of numbers as many more monsters are affected at any time, given that incineration can spread too with a C3 attribute.

It is best to leave the splash turn on. It is the splash which makes the wheel deal so much damage. Inquisitor’s Burn attribute isn’t affected by the patch at all.

Interesting , so for WB / Raid there is a better build in your opinion?

I got the the second post from @Wurmheart the build https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#4114447fff.1a25355565.152f31497a95.152535.113f455161779aa5 , I don’t think it is 100% percent aligned with the one you are mentioned , like it could move points from clone to put on double chance skill.

Do you have any video related to this build and showing that dmg?

Courtesy of Shanochi. Do check out his other videos too, he specialises in Bokor Kabbalist.

Can never do that in a WB setting since double chance will get used by hits from other players.

Thanks @Nekorin , I was searching after I posted and found that channel, pretty amazing DPS , in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2VIV3hAwjY I calculated around 450k per second . One of the source of damages seems to be the old heal bomb .

One thing that caught my attention in this video and the other one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6k0CAdMG7M are people mentioned that this buld is not so good, it is only working due his weapon go pretty high matk and whatever build could work with it and other build could be more helpful in party, do you agree?

You know I got build examples in post 2/3 or something right? to lazy to count atm.

@solidchris:

Wolfy uses trans8, that’s probably the main reason. (I think you got higher spr.)
And keep in mind that owls matk first goes through the def calculations and then it’s dmg gets multiplied. So having to deal with a 50% dmg reduction vs a 30% dmg reduction will be a huge factor. (I want the old dmg formula back tbh.)

@Kannushi:

A, you’re way off in terms of most optimal builds imo.

B, Trying to make such a dps or performance chart kind of defeats the purpose atm.
Most clerics builds simply struggle with being truly all-around purpose builds and generally have a few niche’s in which they perform best.

That being said you’d also have to account for any update changing the meta around, and you’d need a good understanding of items, cleric skills and general mechanics to properly pull it off.
(For an example, the 22 nov ktos patch had some potentially big changes that I still can’t fully predict how they will affect the game. Esp Froster Lord and the shield cards.)

So I’ll try and break down the class list of niches and restrictions first, I’ll need to properly explain those anyway:

Spr Bokor aka Zombie builds:

  • Since you need kills to spawn them they don’t work well in PvP or vs Bosses in general.
  • Their health and def are just lacking atm, so they’re not ideal for high-end content regardless.
  • Pretty good for regular PvE, but struggle with Challenge Modes due to the def/dmg increases on mobs.

Turn Undead Conversion spr themed builds:

  • Needs mobs to convert first, so of no use in PvP.
  • Even worse health and def scaling, or just far higher agro, means they die even faster.
  • Either has a vastly reduced chance of working vs special mobs or none at all, so of no use in ET/Dungeons/high end content.
  • The exp/item removal from converted mobs make it also rather wasteful for regular PvE.

Spr based Diev3/Miko themed builds:

  • Owls are immobile, cannot change direction and need time to ramp up alongside miko’s clap. Aka it’s a bunker down type playstyle.
  • Weak to specific object removal skills, but those are incredibly rare anyway.
  • They take 1 dmg per hit and can get to 140 health at skill lvl 10, and since heal works on them they can survive a ton of dmg.
  • Essentially they’re great for huge amounts of mobs, like ET mob Floors and Challenge Mode. And they have a bit of a niche as aoe dmg turrets for PvP.
  • A ton of support to boot as well.

Spr based Zealots:

  • Blind Faith is one of our best single target dmg skills period, and they still get fi+f combo to boot.
  • It ignores defenses, so vs the 330 raid boss it’s by default the best dmg option. (just watch out for reflects)
  • It is very reliant on buffs and debuffs so it has a few counters in PvP, but not that many.
  • Its AoE dmg is not as good as it’s lack of patk will mean it has a higher def dmg reduction to deal with.

Str based Zealot:

  • Fanatic Illusion is our best AoE dmg skill atm, and works well with high str to boot.
  • Can’t benefit as much from Blind Faith as the sp cost and lack of sp will make it hit like a wet noodle.
  • That’s all …

(Paladin) Inquisitor builds:

  • Offensively it’s sole niche is in PvP imo since it has some pretty good spike dmg and utility. (silence, aoe extender).
  • Paladin is extremely support oriented if you picked it, and quite good at it tbh.

Monk:

  • See zealot2 builds, monk1 is an alright filler for both variants but other monk builds can’t compete.

Int based builds:

Plague Doctor builds:

  • It’s pretty good all round tbh, just gotta make sure you aim and time incin/bds right.
  • Damage isn’t that amazing vs bosses, but it could be worse.

Druid:

  • Bit of a niche in PvP due to Telepath, but that’s about it.

Krivis/Sadhu/Bokor/Miko or other generic AoE focused spell builds:

  • Really not ideal for PvP, these circles are just to easily avoid and/or run out of.
  • Only bokor may have enough dmg to solo Challenge Modes, but others will struggle.
  • Bokor isn’t ideal vs bosses since you can’t always get the 8 zombies per damballa without mobs to kill, and bosses can kill zombies quite quickly.
  • Other AoE builds just don’t really have the dmg needed to shine vs world bosses, but can solo regular 1m hp ish bosses just fine.

Cleric3 aka heal bomb:

  • Has a niche as spike dmg vs bosses due to heal hitting twice while under the effects of blessing, and is incredibly cheap rank wise to boot. Don’t underestimate it.

Kabbalist:

  • Literally only works well with an organized team (or no team at all) since you need to use double chance and gevurah on high dmg hits for kabba to have an effect.

AA builds:

  • They have a niche vs Challenge Modes since Inquis Flames allows them to attack a ton of mobs at once, assuming they can kill quickly enough to get this trick working.
  • I’m not sure their dmg actually scales high enough to compete for world boss dmg spots tbh, a lot of their dmg comes from bonus/additional dmg type effects and don’t scale as well with a godly weapon.
  • They’re not that bad for ET, on mob floors at least. But since they are melee only and depend on inquis flames a lot they aren’t as ideal there either.
  • Would be nice in pvp if auto attacks weren’t so easy to avoid… Oh well.

Think that’s about it.
Suffice to say, the amount of builds that can compete in the same niche is quite small so there isn’t a lot of choice tbh.

Which is kind of good imo, since it means more builds will shine in their own right.
If you want a truly allround build I’d suggest looking into a kriv3/zealot2 variant, that’s the one that should be pretty darn strong vs any scenario.
